Rakewood House Care Home in Castleton near Rochdale, provides residential, nursing, residential dementia and nursing dementia care.

Residents are invited to decorate their rooms with small items of their own furniture.

After experiencing extremely poor care at another home in Rochdale, I made the decision to move my beautiful mum to the Rakewood unit at Carders Court - and it was the best decision I could have made for her. From the very beginning, the staff were simply amazing. They consistently went above and beyond
to ensure Mum was cared for with dignity, compassion, and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
The nursing staff were outstanding - always attentive, responsive, and ready to adapt to meet Mum's changing needs. I visited her daily and was always made to feel welcome. I even decorated her room to make it feel more like home, and it gave me peace of mind knowing that when I left, she was in such capable and loving hands.
Mum spent her final seven months at Carders Court before passing away in February. While it was an incredibly difficult time, I am forever grateful that she was surrounded by such dedicated and kind-hearted carers. She was truly treated like family.

My wife was at Rakewood House for several weeks and she and I found it to be best she has been in. It is well run and the attention given is quite simply the best. I have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home to anyone who seeks a comfortable home with superb attentive care. Beware there are
lots of places that are awful so choose with care.

During the short time my mum was in Rakewood, she was treated with such care and respect, all the staff I felt went over and beyond, nothing was too much trouble, we were welcomed by everyone it is spotlessly clean and a pleasure to visit, any questions we had were dealt with everything explained. The staff carers are very friendly, welcoming and professional. I always feel good when I enter to see mum and dad. My sister who lives in Australia, phones almost every day and always feels good after she has spoken to staff, mum and dad.

The rooms were very nice but the staff were superb. They looked after my wife's every need and made my wife's last day very well and made her very comfortable.

Excellent service, who made my mum comfy and painfree during her remaining weeks on days.

Since my mum arrived in February 2025. She was very agitated but she has seemed to have settled down very well and has made friends with other clients, also has a good relationship with many staff as well. Overall I am very pleased with the care given to my mum.

The care my mother has received so far has been excellent, The staff have been great, very attentive. The food is good but mum says sometimes that they put too much on her plate. Being sat in the lounge every day has been great.

Mum has been in here for a few months now and I cannot fault the care she has been given and the staff who work here.
She was fed extremely well, her hygiene was looked after and her dignity was kept at all times.
Really happy she is so comfortable here.

The home has been great since Mum had to go in late October. Support from both care staff and nurses has been great and we have never been concerned she isn't in good hands. The hygiene is done effectively and with dignity. The food is great and varied. Without having her home we know she's in the best
place with the kind of care we would want her to have.

The staff here are lovely they really have taken good care of her since she arrived. Mum has a lovely room and is cleaned and checked regularly. Mum is unable to get out of bed and has end-stage dementia she has really settled here and seems happy which is all we can ask for as a family.

I am really pleased with the care given to my mother. The staff are excellent and work very hard, they are kind, caring and professional. The meals are of a good standard and varied. My Mum came into the care home in November 2024. She was quite unwell and had difficulties with mobilities, speech, and eating. All the staff made her feel welcome and took good care of her. This care was extended to my Father who came to visit and stayed by my mum's side for most of the time. The staff
including the nursing staff and carers went above and beyond to care for my Mum and were compassionate to all my family at the end of her life.

My wife was referred to Cordes Court due to late-stage dementia, and the inability to feed herself and take care of herself. The care she is receiving is of a high standard and I couldn't ask for more. Any queries are answered immediately as are any concerns.

I am delighted to join Bloomcare as the General Manager of Rakewood House. I hold a BSc (Hon) in Adult Nursing and post graduate diploma in guidance and Counselling. I have over 28 years of experience in a care setting and I have been a manager for 5 of those years.
