Going into residential care is a huge undertaking for any resident and their family, and not one to be undertaken lightly. Finding the right home with the right staff is a minefield and, to a large extent, a calculated risk. Finding Fairwood Fields was an absolute blessing. Not only is the home beautiful,
it has an atmosphere of kindness, compassion and understanding which comes right from the top. My Dad has now been in 11 weeks and is settled and has everything he needs. Thank you to all.
Reply from Amy Watkiss, Customer Relationship Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you for your kind words. We understand how important the decision to move into residential care can be, so it means a great deal to hear that you have had such a positive experience. We are delighted that your dad has settled in well and feels at home with us. We will share your feedback with the whole team who work hard every day to provide compassionate and supportive care.

My mum has been a challenge since her diagnosis with dementia, she decided under her own will to move in to Fairwood Fields at Pontefract after attending a coffee morning open day.
Mum has struggled initially at settling in to the care home, mainly due to the dementia, but the staff have been so nice
and caring to mum through the unsettled period since mum moved in permanently in February.
The fact that mum is now in a very vice care home and is being cared for so well , keeping her secure and safe has taken a big burden off me and has in retrospect supported me, as putting mum in to a care home wasn't easy, but we knew it was the only way. We can now go on holidays, feeling relaxed knowing mum is being cared for and mum has made new friends with in the home..
A big thank you to all the staff
Reply from Amy Watkiss, Customer Relationship Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you for your lovely review. Fairwood Fields is bright modern & welcoming. Much thought has gone into the refreshingly tasteful decor. The choice of lounges is also a bonus & seating areas away from the TV for those residents who just choose to chat. Mum very quickly made the decision, after a number of falls within a very short
time that full time care was what she now required. My brother & I were tasked with finding a suitable residence meeting mums needs & exacting standards. We were invited to a meeting in the home & the manager followed this up with a visit to meet and assess mum. Everyone in the home is most helpful & friendly. The care staff go out of their way to get to know mum. The home has a strong management team who are involved deeply with the running, training & evolving the home responsibly.
A beautiful light filled care home which wouldn't mean anything without the CARE. Mum put her trust in us to find her new home & we delivered reassured in the knowledge that she is very much CARED for.
Reply from Amy Watkiss, Customer Relationship Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted that your mum feels at home at Fairwood Fields and that our team has been able to provide the care, support, and reassurance your family was looking for. It means a great deal to hear that our staff, management team, and environment have made such a positive difference. We are grateful for your trust and look forward to continuing to provide the highest standard of care for your mum.

My uncle has just spent a week's respite in Fairwood Fields and has enjoyed it very much. I knew when I was looking at various care homes that when I walked through the doors, I have found the right place from the genuine welcoming smiles from Lynn, the manager and every staff member I met. Fairwood
is a brand-new home, only 6 months old. The decor is so beautiful, light, and airy. The dining room was so inviting, and my uncle found the food choices were excellent. I came to take my uncle home today, and his words were, 'The staff have been great. Nothing was too much trouble, and all were very kind. Can I book another 2 weeks in August?'
Thank you all, Fairwood Field, I can now go on holiday with a contented mind knowing my uncle is in safe hands.
Reply from Amy Watkiss, Customer Relationship Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you so much for your wonderful words. We are so happy to hear that your first impression of our home was so positive and that this continued throughout your uncle's stay. He was an absolute delight to have and we can't wait to welcome him back later on in the year. I shall make sure your amazing feedback is shared with the whole team and in particular our kitchen team who do work hard to provide gorgeous and varied meals for us all. Thank you once again!

I cannot speak highly enough of Fairwod Fields Care Home. It is clean and well decorated throughout with lots of extras - cinema rooms, beauty salon, garden room and library.
The staff are wonderful and have gone above and beyond in helping Mum settle and join in with the many activities. They have
even taken her on trips out to the market, garden centre and even a day at the races.
Reply from Amy Watkiss, Customer Relationship Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you so much for your kind words and lovely feedback. From the very beginning, the experience was handled with genuine respect and compassion. The initial review took place in my mother's own home, which immediately created a sense of comfort and dignity during what could have been a difficult transition.
Upon arrival at the care home, she was made to
feel exceptionally welcome. The staff ensured the move was smooth and reassuring, helping her settle in quickly. She was encouraged to bring personal belongings, which allowed her to create a familiar and comforting environment in her room.
The facilities provided are excellent, including a spacious room equipped with a large screen TV, en-suite bathroom, adjustable bed, and even a refrigerator-everything needed to support both comfort and independence. Most importantly, the staff consistently demonstrate outstanding care and compassion. They provide not just support, but also meaningful structure and a sense of purpose to daily life. This thoughtful approach has made a significant impact.
Reply from Lynn Robinson, General Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you for such kind and thoughtful words. It has been and is a pleasure to support and care for your mum. We are so glad she has settled in and loves her new home.

The staff from the manager down were all friendly and caring and nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable and clean. The food and activities were varied and plentyful. She

My mother stayed at Fairwood Fields for two weeks as respite care following a recent health problem. I was impressed with the facilities and care provided all round, staff, food and general environment. As a retired GP I have visited many care homes over the years and I think it fair to say that I have
never been in one that provided a better level of service.
I was particularly impressed with small things such as providing a daily newspaper, obtaining my mother's preferred evening drink and offering a range of extra activities such as flower arranging and a cheese and wine evening. Keep up the good work!
Reply from Lynn Robinson, General Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you for your kind words. We are very proud of our facilities and care that is provided at Fairwood Fields. It was a pleasure to be able to support your mother after her recent health issues. We are please that your mother enjoyed her stay and the activities that where provided in her 2 weeks that she was with us. We agree that some times it is the little things that make such a difference such as a preferred drink, newspapers and providing activities which our residents choose. We hope to meet your mother again.

My father went in 26th Jan 2026. It was for 2 weeks respite. After the first 3 days, he decided he was going to be a permanent resident. Dad has changed so much in the short time; he's loving the food and all the staff. My husband and I, my sister and brother in law all think the staff are wonderful,
they always have time for everyone. Dad is now so much more happier, brighter, engaged and back to how he was years ago. Fairwood Fields is the best thing for all of us, thank you.
Reply from Lynn Robinson, General Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you so much for sharing your experience! Our team always strives to provide the best care and support, and we are honoured to be part of this next chapter for your dad and your family. Fairwood Fields staff all of them have been brilliant nothing seems to be too much trouble. Mum has improved loads since moving to Fairwood. The atmosphere and surroundings are so comfortable & relaxed so friendly there always seems to be something going on to keep the residents happy. I have been told
by the rest of my family and friends of mum who visit her that she is in a hotel not a home apart from being looked after so well.
Reply from Lynn Robinson, General Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you for taking the time to share such a wonderful review.

Hi
I do not have a bad word to say about this care home. I was very wary about putting my mam in a care home. I had read and heard bad things against certain ones.
We'll, let me say, I shouldn't have wasted any negative thoughts about this Care Home because it's not like a care home it's just like
walking into a hotel. So, if you're thinking about putting a family member in, just do it. I cannot praise them enough. I can't believe that anyone would have a bad thing to say about this care home. I can visit and when it's time to go I can do so feeling good because I know she's in safe hands. So a big THANK YOU to the staff for all you do for our family members.
Reply from Lynn Robinson, General Manager at Fairwood FieldsThank you very much for your kind review.
We understand how difficult the decision can be when choosing care for a loved one, so it means a lot to hear that you feel reassured and comfortable with your mum in our care. Our team work hard to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for all our residents and their families. Your lovely feedback will be shared with the team, who will truly appreciate your kind words. Thank you again for your trust and support. With Kindest Regards, Lynn General Manager.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.754)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.754) out of 10 for Fairwood Fields is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.904 for Fairwood Fields is calculated as follows: ( (151 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 166 Ratings = 4.904
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairwood Fields is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
