Haddington Care Home provides nursing, residential and dementia care to an exceptional standard in the small but popular market town Haddington.

The purpose-built home has three floors filled with all the comforts of a luxury facility, tailored to meet individual needs and to make each resident feel at home and part of a community.

Each room has been designed with great attention to detail and comes with an en-suite.

The care home operates a social care model which supports specific needs on each floor.
The Ground floor tailors support for residential residents
The Middle floor supports residents with Dementia
The Top floor caters for those residents who require clinical or nursing care

The care home is a nice new building and kept in good repair. Internally it has a nice warm feel with nice decor. It is kept immaculately clean. Rooms are of a good standard. Staff are very accommodating and responsive to any requests. Covid rules are very well organised and I have faith in these. Zoom
calling works very well and is a source of comfort when I cannot visit every day.

My mother has been a resident at Haddington Care Home for 2 years or more. The support given has been excellent. She is happy and content - which gives me a great deal of comfort. I rate the experience so highly that I encouraged another elderly relative to move there at the beginning of this year.
An important factor is their ability to retain staff. While they have kept a core of staff it is evident that it was difficult to attract new staff. It is so important that the government improve their provision to allow staff connections to be improved.

Our mum has been a resident for almost 3 years, one of the first resident's, I cannot express enough our deep-felt thanks to each and every member of the team who care for her. From the minute we had a tour of your care home we knew it was the place for Mum. Apart from being extremely well looked after
we also feel looked after by your wonderful team, always there with a friendly smile or shoulder to cry on if needed. The home is bright and spacious and feels like a well-run family-friendly small hotel, Mum has a beautiful spotlessly clean en-suite bedroom overlooking playing fields and treated with dignity and respect whilst living with dementia. I'd have absolutely no hesitation recommending Haddington Care Home for anyone thinking on the unthinkable that you will one day have to trust your loved one with somewhere safe, comfortable, warm and friendly to be professionally cared for when their own home is no longer an option. Well done team Haddington you are all angels.

My dad has been a resident in Haddington Care Home for 18 months. He settled in well enjoying the beautifully furnished/decorated home and secure garden/terrace. He was lucky enough to be given a room overlooking the playing fields giving him a lovely view. His room, bedding and en-suite toilet/shower
room are always immaculate as is every other area.
My dad is very well cared for, he is always clean and tidy, the carers take time on a one to one basis getting to know each resident and their needs. I have been phoned when dad was off his food discussing options to try where kitchen staff have made meals out of the normal menus and also carers going out their way to make sure he had high-calorie options available (trifle) which always goes down well!
Dad recently spent a short time in hospital, I was very impressed with how everything was managed. The staff ensured he had everything he needed and kept me informed every step of the way. I highly recommend Haddington Care Home and the wonderful team.

My relative has been in Haddington Care Home for a few months now. My first impressions of visiting the home prior to her admission were extremely favourable. It looked like a comfortable small hotel, beautifully furnished and decorated. All staff were welcoming and friendly as well as efficient. This
allayed any apprehension on my relatives part. Since admission, she has been very well and respectfully cared for by all staff and she considers them as friends. Staff keeps us well informed as well as conveying a caring attitude towards my relative. It is such a comfort to my sister and I to know she is such excellent hands. I would definitely recommend this lovely facility to anyone whose relative requires care. All members of the teamwork very cohesively in delivering a high level of care. It's like a family.

Both my parents are in Haddington Care Home. It has been very difficult because of the circumstances just now but the staff have made sure that they have done everything in their power to keep residents safe and they have done this fantastically.
It is upsetting for my parents not seeing all their
family because of the restrictions, but the staff have done so much to support my parents and tried to make them understand what is happening just now which is very difficult trying to explain this to them as they both have dementia.
They have also given all the family great support keeping us informed about everything that has been happening and if we need some reassurance there is always someone on the other end of the phone that we can talk to.
We are getting to have garden visits just know which has helped. It is set up very well and I feel that my parents are very safe doing this.
I also would like to say that every member of staff is a great support and it’s a fantastic team in the home

Kieran is the dedicated Home Manager of Haddington Care Home.


After completing his nursing studies at Edinburgh University, Keiran moved into the care home sector.


After a few years working within one of Edinburgh’s care homes, Kieran moved to the NHS, working within the Edinburgh Care Home Support Team.


Kieran is looking forward to getting to know all the residents, as well as all the families and friends who come in to visit.

Trained in the Open Arms Hotel as a commis chef and went to Telford College in Edinburgh at the same time to study for City and Guilds qualifications. Recently took up a head chef post after working in Haddington care home for 4 years.


Liz loves to bake and enjoys seeing the residents’ reactions to her culinary delights. When not working, she loves walking her dog, hill walking and spending time with friends, family and her husband of 41 years!

Elaine has worked with Haddington Care Home and its residents for many years. Having worked at the old Roodlands back in the day, Elaine is dedicated to the residents and their needs within Haddington. Elaine has experience working with and caring for those living with a diagnosis of Dementia and long-term illnesses. You will always see Elaine with a smile on her face!

Hamish joined the Haddington Team as a carer back in 2023. He then moved over to our activities team to help boost interaction and activities for our residents. Finding himself missing being a carer, Hamish applied for our Team Leader Role and was successful! We are delighted that Hamish is on board with our caring team and can’t wait to see him grow in experience and confidence!

Edward joined Haddington Care Home back in December 2022. He joined our team as a team leader and is now one of our registered nurses. Edward prides himself on knowing his residents well and advocating for their needs and wishes. He particularly enjoys working with those living with a diagnosis of Dementia. Having worked in our Dementia Community since starting with us, he is now based within our Residential floor and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him.
