Our Brother was admitted in a very poor, and frail state, we were very worried and concerned about his situation and general health. We felt lucky to have chosen such a welcoming and wonderful care Home . Since his admittance in April his improvement has been nothing short of astonishing. We cannot speak highly enough about the ethos of the Home. The staff are very committed, friendly, positive and caring. There is much fun , laughter and humour a wonderful atmosphere.
There are many activities and the food is excellent. We are pleased that our Brother is now a permanent resident. We must mention the Manager Michelle who is truly inspirational , very qualified, committed and dynamic.
We feel that we ourselves have now made many friends. It is a truly a wonderful care home.

We thank all the staff

Dad spent three weeks in respite care at Highwood in Feb/March and he will shortly be returning to Highwood for permanent residential care. As a whole family we are both delighted and relieved to have found such a lovely community for Dad to join. He received excellent care and really enjoyed the atmosphere in the home. He particularly enjoyed the company of other residents in the cafe area (which is open all the time), and the lounge. He has said he said all the staff he encountered were positive, cheerful and helpful.
We have found communication from the home to be excellent. Emails have been responded to quickly and phone calls always answered. Dad has been helped to communicate with us by staff and vice versa.
He was visited at various times by various friends. They all received a warm welcome too and again were very positive about the atmosphere at Highwood.

A huge thank you to the staff.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. We're delighted your dad enjoyed his stay, especially the caf, lounge, and the company of others and that you found our communication and support reassuring.
Your lovely comments mean a great deal to the whole team, and we will be sure to share them.

We look forward to warmly welcoming your dad back to Highwood very soon .

Mum has been in Highwood House since July last year. It has been a difficult transition for her, but the staff have gone out of their way to be welcoming and have really taken the trouble to get to know her.
Regarding the home itself- the bedrooms are spacious and well furnished. The communal areas are comfortable and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The gardens are beautiful and well kept.

We were very anxious about Mum moving into care, but I really don't think it could have gone any better!

My mother was in highwood for two weeks respite. She was physically assaulted by another resident in her room. She sustained a bruise to her nose and a skin tear on her left forearm. The nurses/carers did not phone to inform me, they did not file a incident/accident report or document this in her care plan. They did not inform management or report it to CQC. I only found out my mother had been assaulted due to employees of highwood gossiping outside of work. I would never leave my mother there again. Absolutely appalled with highwood.

When my husband went into care we both had to adjust to lives we wouldn't have chosen and had to cope with being separated . It is so important to me to be kept up to date about his new life, especially when he has taken part in an activity or been able to achieve something that seemed unlikely because of his condition. In addition to these verbal snapshots of his life at Highwood are the photographs that appear on the Home's webpage on Facebook. To me, as a relative these photos are not just photos but may become keepsakes of happy times of my husband enjoying something that made him smile. So please please keep the pictures coming.

My friend was a resident but sadly passed. She was treated with the upmost respect throughout her time there. The staff were wonderful, nothing too much trouble. When my friend passed it was with complete dignity.

The entertainment programme is beyond belief. Something to suit everyone. I now go as a volunteer which I enjoy very much. Don't change anything it is wonderful.

My husband was here, but I found it very difficult to visit there as his bin was often overflowing & he was deteriorating too quickly. I could only visit with supervision because of how upset I would get to see him like that. My granddaughters tried for several months to work with them but ended up having to raise a formal complaint, but we had to urgently remove him as it had become unsafe, he was put on the dementia floor with 9 other residents, but there was often only one trained staff with a cleaner as their support who hadn't done the care certificate. They were impatient towards him when they didn't realise we could hear them, medication was left out, they didn't feed him because 'he didn't choose a meal'. Left him with a dirty bathroom. The manager lied to us as a family & promised things. Do not use this facility!

I visit my friend frequently, who has been at Highwood since March and she is thriving there. She is able to socialise, eat excellent food and her room is wonderful. Important agreements that had been put into the care plan were not followed. He was repeatedly given meals that had been communicated he didn't eat such as pasta, fortification plan for food was not followed through after weeks of waiting, I escorted him to the dining room for his lunch but they hadn't prepared a meal for him and were going to feed him nothing because they weren't expecting him to manage to get to the dining room.
He was left to have some meals in his room unsupervised despite being a choking risk. All of these things resulted in a rapid decline in his health
Staff had continuously called his family to deescalate his confusion because they didn't want to spend the time sitting with him and reassuring him. There were no attempt to support him were made before the phone calls.

TEP form was just a scrap of paper with a box crossed that paramedics were unable to use when it was needed.

From the day you accepted my father into your care 28th January 2025, I have seen a marked change in his appearance and general wellbeing. The food is excellent. The staff have taken into consideration portion size and his ability to handle food, something my father needed help with as he was not eating regularly or enough. Upon my last visit, my father noticed how hard the staff worked and when he needed help someone was there. Thank goodness we have people like you.

My father initially went to Highwood for respite care to try out the care home experience. Once he had been there for a few weeks, the decision was made to become a resident. My father is enjoying his time at Highwood and even takes part in the activities, which I never thought he would. From my perspective, I can now relax knowing that he is eating regular home-cooked meals, receives 24-hour care, is taking all of his medication and has company when he wants it. The staff are friendly and always make you feel welcome.

Highwood Care Home has the feel of a luxury hotel. Residents have the use of a hairdressing salon, therapy room, cinema room, library, sensory room and restaurant all included within the fee. The home staff have gone above and beyond to make the person I support feel welcomed, cared for and listened to.
They have also been supportive to me as the transition of moving a loved one into a care home is a very emotive decision.
The residents have a full and busy week with so many activities to do.
The food is excellent and the chef takes requests for favourite meals.
I have always been able to speak to a member when I've visited.
I am so happy that my friend is going to be safe and well cared for here.
The rooms are of good size, beautiful decor and with their own en-suites.

I would highly recommend Highwood Care Home to anyone with care needs.
