Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The comfort, beautiful decor and facilities provided at Highwood are exceptional. For me, most importantly, is the love and care that my mum has received and I have witnessed that in abundance from every single one of the dedicated and professional staff at Highwood.
It has given me such peace of mind
knowing that my mum is receiving such a high level of care both physically and mentally. Also, I would like to praise the chefs for providing such wholesome food which is carefully monitored to ensure Mum is getting all the nourishment and fluids she needs.
I also very much appreciate being able to visit at any time, night or day, and always being made to feel welcome.
It is never easy making the decision to put your loved one into a care home and it would make the process so much easier if the level of care that I have found at Highwood was as standard across the care sector, but unfortunately, it's not.
I highly recommend Highwood Care Home and I'm so grateful to you all, thank you.

Following an initial viewing in May, my brother and I arranged some respite care for Mum. We were so impressed with the building, decor and 'feel' of Highwood, especially the attention to detail. Once a date had been agreed, we arrived to a wonderful welcome, and all the staff on duty came to greet
us and introduce themselves, which immediately put our minds at rest. There was a special welcome poster for Mum, a cup of tea and cake to settle any anxiety, and we were all able to enjoy some lunch together before leaving Mum with some newfound friends. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, and everyone was supportive, caring and considerate. There was a great deal of thought with regard to Mum's room location, and this was much appreciated. We've been kept updated and have some lovely photos of Mum enjoying some of the activities. It's a huge relief to know that she is being well cared for and is in such a professional and beautiful environment.
Reply from Stacey Lewis, Manager at Highwood Care HomeThank you for a beautiful review of Highwood Care Home. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome you all into the Highwood Family, and we are incredibly proud to have supported Mum on her respite stay. Our staff team's commitment to providing person-centred care to the highest standard is what we strive for, we are so pleased you could feel this across the team.

This new purpose-built care home has been planned very carefully and successfully. My mother was the first resident to arrive and the staff couldn't have been more professional and helpful on our arrival. This bodes very well for the future and I'm sure that it is going to be a perfect place for anybody
who is considering a home-from-home.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.394)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.394) out of 10 for Highwood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.394 for Highwood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (219 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (26 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 279 Ratings = 4.394
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highwood Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
