Hillcrest Care Home

My aunt was in Hillcrest Dementia unit 10yrs,she wasn't happy moving from her own home, within a few weeks she said it was a grand place, anyone that knew her this was the highest off praise. I can only say all staff were amazing from the care, domestics and cooks. I was personally met anytime day/night with a smile from staff at the door, they were understanding due to other commitments I could appear anytime.I found them caring,kind and patient, I was updated by phone if I couldnt come in. There were plenty off activities,fun and laughter,staff really encouraged my aunt to participate. Regular music videos played in the sittingroom you could see the happiness on the residents faces.Great nutritional food was always served.The home itself was spotless.We had fantastic support during her final weeks.One member off staff even came after her days work spent precious time reminiscing about Bundoran,another kept her blessed with holy water which was important to my aunt. I have visited my friend in the Home many times since she was admitted to the home a number of months ago. I have always found the staff to be friendly, approachable and very kind. My friend feels listened to in the home and has described her care as compassionate and respectful. She has involved herself in a number of daily activities such as bingo. She has particularly liked the spiritual events that have been organized in the home. She has never complained about any aspect of the care and likes the food. I feel that if I was to need to go into a home, then this would be the one that I would choose too.

I found the staff very caring, always open for a talk about Mum. In Mum's final days, she was treated with dignity and professional care. My sister and I alternated days, and we could visit at any time. Our family were mostly all there in her last week, and we were never intruded on and each day given updates. After a lot of guilt on my part about Mum being in care, I can honestly now look back on it and feel happy that she was in the best place for her needs with lovely people looking after her.

The Hillcrest team were an amazing support to us as a family, when mum celebrated her 100th birthday on Nov 23rd. Mum was able to invite family and friends to a tea party in the dining room. The staff decorated it beautifully and provided crockery and tables for us to use. Visitors all commented on the very welcoming atmosphere of Hillcrest. One friend said it was like being in a swanky hotel.

I have found the care of our friends in Hillcrest Nursing Home is very good. I have no complaints at all.

Staff - second to none.

I am delighted with the wonderful care given to my uncle at Hillcrest Dementia Unit. Management is meticulous in ensuring his safety and well-being, and staff show him the utmost respect, as they tend to his needs with patience and understanding. His preferences in matters of clothing and what he likes to eat and drink are provided for. Indeed, the food is excellent - nutritious and appetising. Residents are offered many activities in Hillcrest; however, sadly my uncle’s dementia prevents him from joining in. Nonetheless, he derives much enjoyment from the attention and interactions so kindly extended to him by the staff. Finally, Hillcrest is excellent at communicating with family to whom they are always welcoming and friendly and whose wishes they always seek to accommodate.

All her needs were met with kindness and consideration at all times. We were always made so welcome by all staff.

From Nov 2021 on his first day until Nov 2023 on his last day my father-in-law was afforded nothing but the best of care and was always treated in a dignified manner by all the staff and management at Hillcrest. When he required medical care he was dealt with in a timely fashion. All his needs were met speedily and the staff gave him the patience and time he required. I can only recommend the facility in the highest of words. We as a family were treated like family and he was always comfortable here. Thank you all for the exemplary care for my father-in-law.
