The care for my wife, who is terminally ill, has received has been first-rate and far exceeded my expectations. She has worked as a healthcare professional all her working life in the NHS and has been delighted with the care she has received.

Since my wife arrived at Kings Court Holt earlier this year. The care/nursing attention has been excellent. The staff have always been friendly/helpful and treated my wife with respect/dignity at all times.
The management team are attentive, accessible for discussion & respond promptly to points raised. Rooms are cleaned daily, food & drink provision is good.

The building is modern, good facilities and decor giving safety & security for residents.

We had a really bad experience with Kings court care home in Holt.. Our dad spent a month here (before we could find a better place!) in nursing care after a spell in hospital. The staff seemed completely unprepared for his arrival and we had to spend a lot of time there trying to ensure he was safe and well cared for. One of the biggest problems was there being no staff around to answer the bells if residents needed help. After a particularly bad day trying to find people to care for him I made a complaint directly to the manager who assured me things would be better. Exactly the same thing happened the very next day with me spending nearly half an hour looking for help- even going to different floors! We felt he was basically unsafe and care was not dignified or kind enough. I think the problem was largely how the place is managed and their clear priority of profit over quality care. I strongly advise families to avoid it.

Reply from Claire Brooks, Registered Manager at King's Court Nursing Home

I am sorry to hear that you remain unhappy. We have had several conversations and have tried to respond to the concerns raised, and I am sorry that these have not provided the reassurance you were seeking. We take all feedback seriously and remain committed to providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

I was visiting my friend at Kings Court Nursing Home, for 4 days. I found the staff very kind and helpful both to her and to me as a visitor. It is a difficult job and they mainly do it well. My concern was that my friend's need to go to the toilet was not answered at all promptly. I realise that she sometimes 'cries wolf' but I think someone should always respond promptly to her buzzer and call her help. There were also few staff with time for a chat with her. Also and very importantly, her liquid intake, which is far too low, is not being monitored and this could be serious.

I booked myself into King's Court for two weeks' respite care following major abdominal surgery. The nursing care has been superb. I could summon help with my pager at any time. The decor is that of a top-class hotel, and clean and dust-free. Knowing that I was safe here gave my family peace of mind. The food is excellent, varied and nutritious. In my case, I followed a light diet and special diets are also catered for. There are daily activities arranged for residents, and two well-tended gardens. No meals to prepare and no housework left me more time to recuperate. I would highly recommend King's Court for recuperation.

My mother has been at King's Court for 4 weeks. She had a challenging time before arriving having stopped friving and finding it increasingly difficult to cope with living independently, She had always said she would never go into a home and struggled to accept the change to begin with, but the fantastic staff here have gone out of their way to make her feel at home and to get to know her individual preferences rather than expecting her to fit in with a standard routine. The building and gardens are fabulous - so well designed and fitted out. We could not have found anywhere better.

We looked for respite care for Mum as we needed to go abroad for a month. Mum was very reluctant to try a care home, but she has absolutely loved King's Court and didn't want to leave once the month was up. The staff have all been so kind, Mum really enjoyed the meals and the range of activities on offer. She has made some lovely friends during her stay and is keen to return when we next go away.

I came after surgery, I came to view the place a week before hospital, and was impressed. My daughter suggested a week's respite, I have been so satisfied with the care I've received. The staff are so kind and always attentive to my requests, etc., bringing me tea in the middle of the night.

My wife is in for a 3/4 week care following a fall and hip replacement. The care is working well! The care and attention of the staff is excellent and has been a key reason for her gentle recovery. The staff is always positive and friendly, and the atmosphere is always very good. The repsonse to 'ringing the call bell' is excellent and this is important. The home is kept immaculately, and visitor access is easy and welcomed. My wife is enjoying her stay.
