Changes in management meant that standards appeared to drop somewhat, particularly in relation to the kitchen/dining room arrangements. The current manager has rectified the situation in many ways and indeed has improved standards overall in the home. The manager's task is very difficult as while we are all treated well, several residents appear to need one to one attention, which means all the staff are kept very busy and cleanliness standards drop a little.

As a family, we have tried many care homes throughout Edinburgh for respite for my Grandmother. After finding Mathieson House this was a miracle. Could not ask for a better service.
The care home itself is immaculate, such a friendly team that bend over backwards to accommodate the person in respite and their family. For example getting in diabetic ice cream. I was asked if I wanted to go and eat but had just eaten a huge meal. The food smelt delicious. Her room was amazing and very clean.
The team, I wish I could mention names, were fantastic with everyone. It is nice to see people being treated with respect.
The only small issue is that some clothes of my Grandmother have been mislaid but the team are looking for them and will get in touch with the family once found.
We have already booked my Grandmother in 2 more times.
Matheson House is great value for money and cannot speak highly enough of the place.
