Review of Beech Manor from J M (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My elderly mother is a resident in Beech Manor and has settled well. It is a very bright and spacious home with access to lovely gardens. There is always some kind of activity/entertainment on which my Mum enjoys. There is a good variety of food and snacks. In my experience i feel the staff are very approachable for any concerns/questions i may have regarding my Mum. Mum has a great relationship with the staff which in my opinion is very important. I enjoy family days where we can all get involved. No one wants to put thier family in a care home but i feel at ease with Mum in Beech Manor and would not hesitate to recommend to friends/family.

Overall Experience

The staff at Beech Manor are a credit to the care home, they keep the place clean and tidy and are very welcoming to all. We are offered cups off tea, updates on how my mum is, any concerns etc, my mum moved there in March from her own home. She has made new friends and sits with them during meal times. They organise trips out, have a real bar where residents can have a "wee tipple" play dominoes and many other organised activities. The recent summer party / BBQ saw both residents and family members come together for an afternoon in the gardens. I was worried at first that my mum wouldn't settle, however it has given her a new lease of life. The staff are very friendly and genuinely care about their residents and doing a good job.

If I have any issues to raise staff are more than happy to discuss these with me and look towards identifying a solution. The staff genuinely care for the residents and this is evident from the quality of the relationships that I have witnessed. My mother has lived there for nearly 2 years and is as happy as she is likely to be given her decreased mobility and advancing memory problems. Yes, at times there are staff shortages and bank cover but no more than any other care home in the area. The atmosphere within the home is cheery & positive, and I am always made to feel very welcome. The buzzer system could work better but staff are looking to improve this. Regular activity updates are shared on a private social media group and weekend activities are planned. Thank you for looking after my Mum.

Review of Beech Manor from Kate D (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The care team have been wonderful in helping my mum to settle in over the past 8 months. The varied activities really suit her - from singing and dancing, to social chats, carpet bowls and trips out. She's also greatly benefitted from the routine and the excellent food. The nurses, carers, managers and activity coordinators have all taken time to get to know mum, and she is treated with care and respect.

Inevitably there have been some bumps in the road as mum moved from our care to the new care team and environment. However, when issues have cropped up, the staff have always listened and been quick to put things right in a way that suits mum. We've also greatly benefitted from the team's advice on how to help mum settle - it's been a big change for all the family, and this advice has really helped.

Reply from Natasha Cowan, deputy manager at Beech Manor

Thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated and helps us to continue learning and growing. I am pleased that, as a family and a team working together, we can continue to ensure that Mum receives the best possible care and support. Your involvement and observations are invaluable in helping us maintain and improve her wellbeing.

My Uncle moved into CroftBank on 1st June 2026, and I honestly can't praise this home enough. From the moment he arrived, he was welcomed with kindness, dignity and genuine care.
Every member of staff is warm, friendly and always takes the time to smile and say hello. Their "corridor manners" are exceptional, and every visit leaves me feeling reassured that my uncle is in the best possible hands.
He's enjoyed days out, entertainment within the home, and, most importantly, CroftBank has given him a real sense of home while encouraging his independence.

Thank you to every member of staff for treating my Uncle with such compassion and respect. I couldn't recommend CroftBank House Care Home more highly.

My mum is a resident at Torry Care Home, and I couldn't be happier with the care she receives. She is always very well looked after, and all of her daily needs are consistently met with kindness and professionalism.
Since moving into the home, my mum has really thrived. Her wellbeing has improved so much, and she enjoys the wide range of activities on offer. She especially loves the live entertainment and always looks forward to visits from King's Church, which bring her great joy and companionship.

Review of Jesmond Care Home from B G (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

At Jesmond Care Home the staff are always friendly, polite and helpful. Even although the home is busy with a refurbishment at the moment it is always clean and tidy and the residents health and safety is their main priority. Mum loves it here and is well looked after. The entertainment program has something every morning and afternoon. Also the residents are taken out for runs, lunches and breakfast. Happy hour and live music every Friday. They hold a relatives meeting where we are updated in all aspects of the home and any questions we have are always answered. The manager of the home is always available whether in person or on the telephone to discuss any of your concerns. I like this because you are listened to, nothing seems to be a problem and the manager is easy to talk to. I am really glad mum is here as I know she is safe and well treated. They always keep me informed if there is a change in her medication or needs a doctor.

Review of Kingsmills Care Home from Malcolm W (Son of Resident) published on 8 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mum moved into Kingsmills last August and took a few months to settle down but her admission was under emergency circumstances so it all had to happen very quickly plus my father died the next day in Hospital so it was a very difficult time for mum and the family. However mum now seems far more settled and I think this is down to a combination of care staff efforts and frequent visits by family and friends. Roslyn, the manager, has been great at sorting a few things out for us and the nurses keep me posted of any issues. Mum does say the food could be a bit better at times but we know there are difficulties getting decent chefs and the room could do with being a bit bigger for mum's personal stuff and visitor seating. I have a lot of confidence in mums care and although there are always a few things that crop up, as they do, they are always addressed promptly. The staff are very friendly and this is much appreciated and I know management are trying their best.

My mother has been a resident for 8 months; the change in her since entering the home is incredible and pleasing. She smiles more, and she never complains about anything (unusual !). Seems contented. She feels respected, the staff seem to really like her, and she likes them. All in all, really pleasantly surprised. A difficult job, I'm sure, for not much reward. But full credit ot everyone at the home - well done.

Our experience so far has been very good - my Dad moved into TCH 6 months ago. He has been well cared for and we have been kept informed of his well-being throughout. The staff we have met so far have been friendly, approachable and helpful. Dad's room and the wider facilities are always clean and fresh when we visit. Overall Experience

My mum has settled well into Malin Court. She has a really good relationship with all staff and we recognise this when we see how my mum and staff interact with each other. She enjoys going on the outings with picnics or ice cream etc. Activities are also good and staff ensure everyone is involved ( that want to) the staff take into account my mums and other residents favourite things like music singing and dancing animals and they incorporate these into the planning of activities and visits from outside organisations. The food is amazing and my mum is eating a healthy and varied diet which the chefs will change or alter to suit her needs or preference. Overall , Malin court is a lovely care home which has a great atmosphere and family feel to it. Staff see my mum for the beautiful person she really is and not a person with dementia. I recommend it to other families.

Overall Experience
I cannot thank the staff at Malin Court enough for their care and support of my aunt since entering the home in April. I'm personally very grateful for their continual support and guidance, enabling me to help support my aunt's needs.
This has been a difficult time for my aunt. In addition to having to adjust to a change in living arrangements and lifestyle as a result of entering care, she has also had the trauma of unexpectedly losing her husband after more than 60 years of marriage.
The team at Malin Court have been truly exceptional!
Staff are warm, understanding. comforting and professional. They continually put my aunt at ease with their caring, friendly support and attentive care. This is a great comfort to the wider family.

On behalf of the family, I also wish to extend special thanks to the entire Malin Court team for their help and support in allowing us to manage my uncle's funeral in such a way that we could fully accommodate my aunt. Again, exceptional!
