The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming and the residents are well looked after. There are regular activities going on and regular trips for residents. The home is clean, warm and safe. My friend has had a new lease of life since she started residing in the home and has made many friends there.

I believe that Persley Castle perform miracles, taking into account that like most businesses, they have limited funds and staff to work with. The care shown to residents is first class, and the fact that there is not a high turn over of staff indicate that it is a good & happy place to work. Residents are given opportunities to do a wide variety of activities so there is something for everybody.

The first day my mum arrived, we were told we were now part of the family, and have been treated as such ever since. And we really do feel like we have a vastly extended family of great aunts and uncles in the form of the residents who love to chat, and also in the staff, who not only look after mum's welfare, they look after ours too.

It may not be perfect, no where will be. However, it is an amazing home to a very large family of really special people and I feel blessed to be part of that family.

Persley Castle has an amazing staff.
They are friendly and go above and beyond.
The day room has lots of activities to keep the residents happy and entertained.
The dining room is clean and tidy and the staff are hardworking and will deliver food and tea to the room.
The bedroom and en suite is kept clean and tidy with polite staff knocking and asking to come in everytime.
Although, it's been a hard transition the staff have been patient and very caring.
We cannot fault the home and know there is an open door policy and we would feel very comfortable to share our concerns if we ever needed to.
We all feel comfortable coming in and out at all times of the day.

Thank you for your friendly approach and professionalism at a difficult time.

Reply from Kirstene Feenan, Renaissance Care at Persley Castle Nursing Home

Thank you for your kind words - we understand how difficult the transition can be and will always do everything we can to make it as smooth and reassuring as possible. You're always welcome in the home at any time, and we encourage loved ones to spend as much time with us as they wish. Very best wishes.

I'm very happy with the care my mum gets at Perslay Castle. Very clean and the staff do a great job. They are all very friendly and always on the go. Every time I'm in, I'm offered tea or coffee, my mum likes her cigarette and she gets out for one so it makes her happy.

The home is run in a very professional manner with staff who care for the patients in a compassionate way. Mum is not really able to participate in all the home activities but is still encouraged to join where she can. Overall as a family we are more than happy with the level of care provided.

My Mum has been a resident of Persley Castle for 10 months. It was a rocky start and over this period there has been a change in management and staff
Resulting in a very visible improvement, especially in activities and entertainment.

Mum is very well looked after; she is always clean and relatively happy within herself certainly wouldn’t be the easiest to care for. Mum's dementia means that she struggles to join in with some activities, but this doesn't deter the staff from including her, which we as a family appreciate. Happy enough with her care.

As a family, we were hesitant about putting our mum into residential care, but Mum’s experience has been a very positive one.
We have seen a great change in Mum, she is so happy, has plenty of company, very well looked after and is no longer bored and lonely.
She is treated as an individual rather than just a number and has made many friends.
She likes getting involved in all the activities and outings.

We are confident that we have made the best choice in Persley castle care home.

Our mum lived here from January to September 2023, appalling lack of end-of-life care standards, and poor pain control awareness. This service should not be allowed to be in a position to offer end-of-life care.
My mum suffered immensely as a result of poor knowledge and a lack of compassion.
As a result, my whole family were left traumatised by my mum's high level of pain and discomfort during her last week of life, end-of-life care should and need not ever be like mum's was.

Reported to the care inspector and complaints upheld, big improvements need to be made and monitored.

Cannot fault this care home in any way.
Mum has been here for a few months now and settled very well.
The staff can not do enough, everyone is so helpful and will assist with anything that you ask them to.
Would recommend this care home to anyone.

They do so much with the residents within the care home, especially all the lovely events that take place.

Our family was very apprehensive about putting our mum into care but we could never have guessed how brilliant the staff at Persley would be. When she moved into Persley Castle it was thought that she may only have weeks or months left at best, but due to the care and attention of the staff, we had a lovely two and a half years with her. We would like to give special thanks to staff. The care, patience and compassion they displayed to our mum up to the time of her passing was second to none, and we will always be truly grateful to them. We would also like to thank all the other staff members who unfortunately we did not know by name. If we were asked to give the staff marks out 10, every one of them would be a 20. They really embody the word care, the staff should be cherished, encouraged and truly appreciated for their efforts. We will be forever grateful for what they did for our family.

Although my father was a resident for a short time, he was very well cared for with dignity and respect. The staff were very welcoming and the care home had a lovely, warm homely feeling when you were there. My father was very happy while he was there, when he arrived he was very stressed and the staff soon reassured him that he was safe. I can’t thank the staff enough for the compassionate care they provide.

My dad moved into Persley Castle in June 2022 after a very stressful couple of months in hospital and rehab due to covid resulting in a rapid decline of his Alzheimers. He very quickly settled in at Persley thanks to the amazing staff. We were all apprehensive about him moving to a care home but we could not have hoped for better care. The staff are very friendly, attentive and caring. We have had no concerns about his care there, it could not be better. He is always treated with dignity and respect. The home is always very clean and well-presented and the regular decorations for special occasions are a lovely touch. I would highly recommend Persley.

My mum moved into Persley Castle Nursing Home in January of this year and is very happy. She enjoys all of the meals and snacks provided and also loves the activities and trips out on the minibus. There always seems to be something happening to keep the residents busy and happy. Whenever I visit I always feel very welcome.

I have found that the care provided is exceptional and the management and staff are very cheery, caring and compassionate. Mum was in hospital for quite some time before moving to Persley and her health and general well-being has improved significantly over a short period of time. Persley Castle is decorated very homely and is spotlessly clean both in her room and throughout the common areas. The garden areas are also very nice. I really struggled with the decision to place my mum in a care home but I feel that Persley Castle staff have put my mind completely at ease as I know she is being very well cared for and I cannot thank you all enough.
