My wife has been in Persley Castle since April 2022, and I have nothing but praise for the home and all the staff. All the staff are attentive and caring, always have time for myself when I'm visiting. She is always well-dressed. The home put on themed events, and the food at those are better than at
some restaurants. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone.

Reply from Kirstene Feenan, Marketing at Persley Castle Nursing Home

Thank you very much for your review. We're delighted that your wife is so happy at Persley Castle, staff at the home are very creative and nurturing, particularly when they have events or celebrate special occasions.
Thanks again, Renaissance Care.

My sister has been in Persley Castle Nursing Home for two years, and my family and I have been very pleased with the care she receives. We are especially impressed with the cleanliness and the very efficient running of the care home. There is always some activity for the residents to take part in,
also a beautiful garden for them to enjoy. My sister-in-law and I enjoy our visits to the care home and are always made to feel welcome. Thank you all.

The approach to the nursing home is beautiful and the welcome from the staff is always friendly and cheery. We are very satisfied that all aspects of care is delivered in the best interests of my sister-in-law. She is happy and content and enjoys her food which is always well presented. The staff show
kindness and care to all and entertain them well with musical programmes and outside activities. The rooms are clean and tidy and no urine smell on entering the building as I noted in other homes. Money doesn't buy happiness, kindness and care and going the extra mile does. Well done.

Mum and Dad have been residents since March 2020, and I could not be happier with the care that they have received. Staff are very attentive and ready to answer any queries I have. Excellent attention is given to birthdays, anniversaries etc. Had an excellent Jubilee celebration - great effort goes
into making all special times of the year too. My parents are always clean, tidy and happy, and encouraged to participate. They especially enjoy helping in the garden.

My mum has been living at the home for several weeks now. I've found the care provided by the staff to be first class, they have been attentive and caring whilst mum has settled in. Mum is very happy with the food provided and is getting to know staff and residents.

Mum was moved from a care home to Persley Castle. The previous home could not meet mum's complex needs. We were anxious about the move due to high-level care needs, severe skin condition and progressive dementia. Well, we shouldn’t have worried as from day one they had everything under control. New
GP visit sorted, medication review done, skin condition treated, all mum's physical and emotional needs met. Mum's quality of life has improved and social interaction increased. Persley is one big caring family. We can rest knowing that even during lockdown mum was being well cared for. Management has their eye on the ball knowing their resident's needs whilst involving families. Staff team all very friendly and knowledgeable of mum's needs.

My mother always looks very happy, clean and well-fed. She is encouraged to join in games when in the lounge, which I regard a very important in her condition. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and genuinely helpful. I am very relieved my mum was placed in Persley Castle.

Staff always pleasant and helpful when I have visited either outside or inside the past two weeks. As my mother only went into the home in August 2020, have not seen inside properly, but from what I have seen, it's very tidy and well looked after. The activities coordinator is very good at encouraging
the residents to join in and always keeps us informed too. Management is always approachable and very helpful too.

My husband has been in Persley Castle for four months and has settled in well. He is always kept clean and tidy. I cannot comment on his room due to coronavirus. The staff are friendly and helpful. They are dedicated to all the residents.

The care that Persley castle provides is excellent, the love and care from all staff to the residents is above and beyond expectations. They have kept us updated with regular Facebook pictures which puts our minds at rest. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their dedication and hard work during the
pandemic.
It's always a pleasure to visit the home before lockdown as staff are friendly and caring. As a family, we have been overwhelmed with the care given to our aunt.

My Mother in Law was well cared for by staff who always found the time even when busy to give a comforting hug and a smile to the elderly in their care. I know my Mother in Law was happy in Persley Castle by the way her face lit up when they approached her. She was always encouraged or helped to finish
her drink and have something to eat. Staff kept in touch by phone if they were concerned in any way about my Mother in Law's wellbeing. Good choice.

My mother was well cared for by the staff. They always found time to give her a hug and a smile. We noticed that her eyes lit up when members of the staff came near.
They always managed to get her to drink her tea.
We have never had a problem finding ut anything we needed to know. I am glad my mother
went into Persley Castle, it proved to be the correct choice.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.314)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.314) out of 10 for Persley Castle Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.514 for Persley Castle Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.514

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Persley Castle Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
