Care Homes Owned by Renaissance Care in City of Edinburgh

My mum has been in the care home for 12 weeks & the care she has received has been 1st class. Staff are very friendly & attend to her needs brilliantly. my Mum has settled in very quickly & the lovely staff have played a big part. Her becoming settled so quickly has been very helpful for us. The manager Kelly has been very helpful & is approachable with any questions I may have.

The Matheson House care team are a very professional yet homely support family who from the moment we arrived with Kathleen balanced care and interest in her personally with professional insight and knowledge. They are more than safe hands, they have the foresight to anticipate her evolving needs, the empathy to respond to her kindly, plus the humanity to openly accomodate her family's involvement in her life with them. Kathleen's move there has been a godsend for her and the entire family.

My mother has established some good friendships among both staff members and fellow residents, all of whom have extended a most gracious welcome to her.

Having gone through a difficult time at the home in relation to the standard of care being offered, and communication between staff being dreadful things have begun to improve. However there is still more to be done. It appears to be going in the right direction.

Glencairn is a very welcoming the staff are really nice and friendly and make you so welcome they are well trained and work as a team nothing is to much for them my aunt is very contented and happy and is well looked after and management are are always on hand if you need a chat

Hi, thank you for sharing the minutes for the latest meeting. It is most welcome. I have had a couple of occasions when meeting Dad to take him out for a meal when there were no lights on in his room. I startled him awake. It would be useful, before dusk, if residents' bedside lights were switched on, even if they are snoozing, so that the transition to wakefulness is not so abrupt. Many thanks Mike

Mum has just been at Glencairn for a 10-day respite break. She has mobility issues and chronic spinal pain; sadly, she's also starting to have some cognitive problems. We were all impressed by the beautiful rooms and she settled in very quickly, helped by the cheerful, kind and considerate staff. We were warmly welcomed ourselves and the carers and management are always ready to answer any questions that might crop up. Mum very much appreciated their support and enjoyed their company, and also commented on the good food. She was so comfortable there that we've chosen Glencairn for her long-term care, to start in a couple of weeks.

The above care home runs very smoothly with staff nothing a problem to them. If I have it, it gets solved quickly. My opinion is that there's good running from the manager and the team. If anyone is looking for accommodation for their loved ones, I recommend this care home. They are looked after very well. And treated with respect, and you know they are safe.

We have found the care home excellent. We have excellent comfortable rooms and the staff are all friendly and caring. My wife and I are in here together as I have very limited mobility because of Parkinsonism and my wife has early stage Altzheimers. There is a very good atmosphere of commitment among the staff and the accommodation is excellent. We sometimes get tired of the food but it would not be different in other care homes. There have been some excellent outings, which we have enjoyed.

Living so far away (New Zealand) from my dad, I am so relieved that he is being looked after so well at Glencairn. Thank you to all of the staff for providing the opportunities for the residents and for creating such a homely environment.

I can say that the staff at Glencairn have been consistently supportive and considerate and have encouraged my father to participate in events at the home and in particular, excursions which he has clearly enjoyed very much. I really can't praise the staff at Glencairn highly enough.

My mother went into Glencairn for 4 weeks of respite while work was carried out on her flat. She was very unsure about going in and was certain it would not be a very pleasing experience. Instead, she has enjoyed the company, the activities and the food. She confessed she was nervous to go back to living alone and asked to stay longer. She is delighted that this is possible.

I chose to go into Glencairn Care Home for a week of respite following major surgery. I went in believing I would receive the very highest level of care and companionship as I recuperated and I was not disappointed. As a volunteer who had previously dropped into this home, sometimes to paint with residents, sometimes to attend church services, I had observed from a distance how well cared for the residents were. I found myself part of a family who all shared the same high level of care, encouragement, thoughtfulness and friendship from a very highly trained team of staff, in all departments. Rooms were immaculate, food was excellent, presented as an attractive offering to the most reluctant appetite. The care was superb. I have no hesitation in recommending Glencairn to anyone as an excellent, peaceful and caring home from home.

Although I am not as regular a visitor as my sisters, my visits endorse the above comments on every occasion.

I would definitely recommend Glencairn, where there are high standards and exceptional staff.

It's never an easy decision to place a relative in a care home but when my mum was diagnosed with dementia and my own health situation required a lengthy recovery to find Glencairn was a relief. I can't praise Glencairn too highly, the care given to my mum is excellent. The staff are wonderful and caring in every way. Standards throughout Glencairn are first rate and I couldn't wish for my mum to be in a better environment. The food provided is freshly prepared and of the highest standard, communication from the staff regarding Mum's condition is also to be highlighted as very good. The activities throughout the week for the residents are also excellent be it word games, painting or visiting musicians etc. The high standards throughout from the management and staff are wonderful and welcoming to all. Glencairn is highly recommended.
