Should be renamed Conners prison due to me being told I had to make an application to the governor to see my daughter. This place should be closed down due to a catalogue from staff namely the manager and one of the carers.
Reply from David Kenworthy, Owner at Conner's Place

The resident concerned is currently a ward of court, she was placed with Conner's Place for her safety and we at Conner's Place are legally bound by the strictures and conditions of that Court Order. That said and not withstanding the evident frustration felt by the family over the enforced separation, our Manager and staff are constrained legally in the scope of communication with the family. Our aim is to support both families and residents with compassion, dignity, and clear communication, a difficult task considering the court ruling. We're pleased your daughter is currently thriving and happy in our care, Social Services are in agreement with our person centred care plan and we are monitored closely by the relevant authorities. We would welcome the opportunity to address the family's concerns within the legal framework allowed. It is in everyone's best interest that relationships are improved between ourselves and the family, especially as they affect their daughter. Thanks

My son is living with autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy and has been a resident at Conner's Place for a little over 3 years. The building has been fitted out to a very high standard and is very well maintained. The residents have all the facilities they need. All staff are friendly, helpful,
knowledgeable and professional and clearly enjoy doing what they do. The management team are very proactive in both the general running of the facility and responding to issues as and when they arise. My son follows an independent living plan which is well managed and works well. He has a full week of planned activities, be it work experience or just out and about having fun. Most importantly, my son loves living at Conner's Place and is always excited about going back on a Monday morning after a weekend home visit. Nothing is ever perfect but I'm struggling to find any downsides and would highly recommend this facility to anyone.

Our daughter stayed for around 6 months just after being diagnosed with Autism, Conner's Place helped her accept her diagnosis and supported her in her adjustment to independent living. The two owners treated her as if she was one of their own, they dealt with every query she had and also ours quickly
and professionally. We are extremely grateful for the time she spent here as it gave her the confidence to be able to live a full life now. Something we did not think would happen before her time at Conner's Place.

My daughter, who has ASD, ADHD and a learning disability resided at Conner's Place for approximately 2 years. Following several years of failed placements in other establishments, Conner's Place was a 'God Send'. This placement provided the support, opportunities and homely environment that she was
greatly in need of. Within 12 months there was a marked improvement in her levels of independence and her mental well-being. She was clearly secure and happy for the first time in several years. A truly holistic setting which has enabled my daughter to progress into a supported living environment.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.582)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.582) out of 10 for Conner's Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.207 for Conner's Place is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.207
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Conner's Place is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 6 registered maximum number of service users is 1.2, which has been reached with 4 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
