Every member of staff I have met has been lovely, chatty, caring, which makes me feel happy & confident that mum is being well looked after. There is a fantastic programme of activities for residents, the staff put a lot of time & effort into this. The home itself is homely & lively, I love the fact
that there is a cafe where residents can socialise, as well as a hairdressers inhouse. I only have good things to say about Oakbank Care home.
Reply from Margaret Ann Gavin, Care Home Manager at Oakbank Care HomeThank you so much Margo for your lovely review, the staff will be very happy to hear that their hard work is recognised by relatives and visitors.
We all enjoy taking part in the organised and ad-hoc activities that occur around the care home.
The cafe is used and frequented by visitors, residents and family on a regular basis, it provides everyone with some company and often stimulates a lot of conversations from different groups of attendees.

We as a family highly recommend Oakbank Care Home. Our mum has such a fantastic social life, which she would not have had had she stayed in her own home. Joins in with activities that she always declined to join in. Bingo, knitting, singalong in the home and joins activities in the community. Church
singalong, boat trip, even the museum, pantomime, and shopping trips. Lots more as well. The manager and staff are welcoming as soon as you set foo through the door. Always helpful, polite and caring. The staff are so attentive to the residents, keep us informed of any changes with mums care, updates with changes in relatives meetings/residents meetings. Thank you all so much nothing but praise.
Reply from Margaret Ann Gavin, Care Home Manager at Oakbank Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review, we love to see you mum joining in and of course you and your sister in law. It is so kind of you to complete a review this allows me to provide such positive experiences to our staff, it shows that their care and attention is appreciated.
We look forward to many more exciting activities and social events for every one.

I am absolutely astounded at the level of activities you have offered my Dad.
He looks like he's really enjoying everything he's been invited to attend.
Latterly, Dad wouldn't go to anything with us and always made excuses not to go. Now, his world has opened up again. It pleases us as a family that
you've rekindled that adventurous spirit in him.
Thank you to all the staff. Love seeing him on the social media page, as does all his grandchildren

Every time we visit mum, we are greeted with a smile from staff and made welcome. Mum has been going out on trips, playing dominos with other residents and a regular at the cinema. What is nice to see is the carers know the resident.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.930)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.930) out of 10 for Oakbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 54 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.930 for Oakbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (590 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 632 Ratings = 4.93
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakbank Care Home is based on 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 54 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
