Every time we visit we are welcomed by reception staff always a lovely smile
Offers of beverages etc from cafe
Mum has a fabulous social life very involved with the activates that is arranged inhouse as well as outdoors
Mum is getting more frail now the staff still make sure she joins in when she wants to they always reassure her that if she changes her mind they will assist her back to her room .
Her favourite activity is playing dominoes and singalong as well as going to the church service
One of the things mum was so very happy to see was a children's area has just been made in the garden ,for them to play in .This was because one of her great grandchildren was involved in helping as well as many other families, she is so proud
The Manager and her deputy as well as the rest of team are such caring respectful and happy people ,always ready to help with any queries or concerns we may have

We as a family can't thank them all for everything they have and continue to do for mum

Thank you so much for the very positive review, i am so glad that the staff are always here for the residents and their families.

The children's area is bright and cheerful and it does provide a nice splash of colour, even when not in use by children. I hope you have seen the chalk outlines of...

Review from Gordon J (Respite Resident) published on 23 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Purpose of staying at Oakbank was for respite. The overall experience was positive, however a few aspects need to be addressed to make Oakbank an outstanding care home, with the high level it aspires to. The areas in question are food, entrance to Oakbank and sending an inappropriate bill to our son.

Reply from Margaret Ann Gavin, Care Home Manager at Oakbank Care Home

Good morning, Gordon

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review regarding your respite stay, it is appreciated. We will definitely take your opinion and view into account when discussing the areas that you feel we could improve on. I will discuss with the appropriate heads of dept to ensure a service that meets your expectations will be provided.

Overall Experience
My 93-year-old father moved to Oakbank following a sudden decline in his health. From our very first contact, the Home Manager, Margaret Ann and her team were outstanding. Living over 600 miles away, I was struggling to arrange care, but Margaret Ann showed remarkable kindness and compassion, doing everything possible to quickly arrange admission for my Dad.
The care he received during his final two weeks was exceptional. Every member of staff treated him with kindness, dignity and genuine affection. Nothing was ever too much trouble, even going to the shops to buy him snacks (despite the amazing menu offered), and their warmth and professionalism gave us enormous comfort at a very difficult time.
Oakbank is much more than a care home, it is a caring community staffed by truly remarkable people. The facilities are wonderful.
We will always be grateful for the support they gave both my father, my brother and me. I cannot recommend Oakbank highly enough.

Thank you.

My first impressions of the Care Home were very positive, but now that I know it better, I'm even more impressed. The building is spacious and modern and set in beautiful grounds with well tended gardens. The staff are caring and professional and they treat residents and visitors with courtesy and kindness. There are plenty of activities to keep the residents stimulated and involved and the cafe encourages further conversation over tea/coffee and delicious cakes and biscuits. All in all - its a great place to spend your retirement!

Every member of staff I have met has been lovely, chatty, caring, which makes me feel happy & confident that mum is being well looked after. There is a fantastic programme of activities for residents, the staff put a lot of time & effort into this. The home itself is homely & lively, I love the fact that there is a cafe where residents can socialise, as well as a hairdressers inhouse. I only have good things to say about Oakbank Care home.

I am absolutely astounded at the level of activities you have offered my Dad.
He looks like he's really enjoying everything he's been invited to attend.
Latterly, Dad wouldn't go to anything with us and always made excuses not to go. Now, his world has opened up again. It pleases us as a family that you've rekindled that adventurous spirit in him.

Thank you to all the staff. Love seeing him on the social media page, as does all his grandchildren
