When visiting my friend, all the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The home looks clean, and often there are quirky things (like incubating eggs) to add to the conversation during my visit. I hope the staff are as happy as they appear. Sometimes my friend smells because she is incontinent. :(
Reply from Margaret Ann Gavin, Care Home Manager at Oakbank Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely feedback. I am glad yo have had a lovely experience visiting Oakbank and staff are a lovely caring group of people who support each of our residents.

This was my first time visiting my granny and I was amazed both at the kindness and warmness of the staff, but also how well equipped and beautifully decorated the facility was. We spent some time in her room which was spacious and had everything needed to support my granny then had a lovely coffee
in the cafe where we were made to feel very welcome. The garden area is great for my nephew to run around. I look forward to returning with my dog in the near future.
Reply from Margaret Ann Gavin, Care Home Manager at Oakbank Care HomeThank you so much for completing a review on your first visit to Oakbank to see your granny, I'm so glad it was such a positive experience. We love having all members of the family visit, including your lovely pets. The coffee is lovely and I'm glad you enjoyed the hospitality.

Cannot praise the kindness and attention of staff enough. Building and gardens are spotless more like a 5 star hotel than a care home.
Feel mum is well looked after and her every need met, such a relief for the family to know she's so well cared for.

Overall a great facility providing great care for residents.
Areas for improvement would be to sort the issues with the guest/resident wifi which by in large is poor.
The radiator in mum's roof 'bangs', which I have reported.

We have just moved our parents into Oakbank. Its a big decision and the team here have made everything as easy as possible. The staff are so kind and caring and you can really tell that the culture here is all about excellence in care and lots of compassion and kindness. We received the warmest welcome
and that has really helped my parents settle into their new home.
Reply from Margaret Ann Gavin, Care Home Manager at Oakbank Care HomeThank you, it is a pleasure to support our residents as the enter our home for the first time, its can be a very worrying time for all concerned and we hope that by showing our kindness and compassion it eases the burden on both the resident and their family. It is very much a team effort and each department tries hard to make the experience as easy as possible. We really appreciate that you have taken the time to let us know how your visit has been and that you feel supported as part of the family at Oakbank Care Home.

This care home is outstanding: the internal design is amazing; the architectural layout has been impeccably thought through so that each room is filled with light and every room has a door leading out into the outside space. The staff are exceptionally caring and kind. Visitors are made to feel welcome
and even dogs are allowed to visit. There is a great rapport between the staff and residents. The nurses, when not handing out medicines or changing surgical dressings, can be found assisting carers to feed residents or wheel us through the gardens. The baths are amazing! I look forward to staying here again in the future.

My friend has been a resident for a week. He is very happy and content here. He cannot fault the care and friendliness of the staff. His room is attractive and home, with his personal possessions around him. He is enjoying the food provided. He has enjoyed being taken out for visits in the area. As
a care home, this could not be bettered.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.930)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.930) out of 10 for Oakbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 54 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.930 for Oakbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (590 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 632 Ratings = 4.93
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakbank Care Home is based on 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 54 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
