We have just moved our parents into Oakbank. Its a big decision and the team here have made everything as easy as possible. The staff are so kind and caring and you can really tell that the culture here is all about excellence in care and lots of compassion and kindness. We received the warmest welcome
and that has really helped my parents settle into their new home.
Reply from Margaret Ann Gavin, Care Home Manager at Oakbank Care HomeThank you, it is a pleasure to support our residents as the enter our home for the first time, its can be a very worrying time for all concerned and we hope that by showing our kindness and compassion it eases the burden on both the resident and their family. It is very much a team effort and each department tries hard to make the experience as easy as possible. We really appreciate that you have taken the time to let us know how your visit has been and that you feel supported as part of the family at Oakbank Care Home.

This care home is outstanding: the internal design is amazing; the architectural layout has been impeccably thought through so that each room is filled with light and every room has a door leading out into the outside space. The staff are exceptionally caring and kind. Visitors are made to feel welcome
and even dogs are allowed to visit. There is a great rapport between the staff and residents. The nurses, when not handing out medicines or changing surgical dressings, can be found assisting carers to feed residents or wheel us through the gardens. The baths are amazing! I look forward to staying here again in the future.

My friend has been a resident for a week. He is very happy and content here. He cannot fault the care and friendliness of the staff. His room is attractive and home, with his personal possessions around him. He is enjoying the food provided. He has enjoyed being taken out for visits in the area. As
a care home, this could not be bettered.

We are absolutely delighted with every aspect of mum's experience at Oakbank Care Home.
All staff are extremely welcoming, friendly and caring towards mum and us as family members. There is a lovely sense of a very happy team.
The level of care is excellent. Carers always speak to mum kindly and make
sure she is supported with her personal care.
The surroundings are beautiful. Mum's bedroom is tastefully furnished and always cosy. The sitting and dining rooms are light and airy. It is a lovely space to enjoy time with mum.
Throughout the week, there are a wide range of super activities that mum gets involved with and really enjoys. The weekly visit from Stanley the therapet and local nursery children coming for lunch are just a couple of highlights. There is always something going on to offer stimulation and opportunities to socialise. Everyone sits together to enjoy mealtimes and the standard of food is excellent.
Mum is genuinely happy and settled. We would highly recommend Oakbank to others.

My aunt and uncle arrived in Oakbank Care Home together in December. They were able to choose their rooms and then the staff put up their pictures to welcome them. Every since member of staff has been 100% friendly and support to family, visitors and to my uncle and aunt. They have been encouraged to
take part in Christmas parties, visit the dining room and the hairdresser. They have put up a bird feeder for my uncle. Our experience so far has been wonderful and we are very grateful to have such a lovely care home for my uncle and aunt. The cafe is lovely too - there is an excellent chef at Oakbank - the whole experience so far has been 10/10.

My husband has been a resident at Oakbank Care Home for two months. He has settled in well and is getting a good level of care. Any issues raised by me have been addressed quickly. His room is beautifully decorated and the lounge and dining room have been tastefully designed. With excellent facilities.
There is also a lovely garden in which my husband and I can spend some time together. Communication is good and I am always contacted if there are any concerns.

Yesterday for the second time I visited a client of mine. It was his Birthday. Wow. The staff were all very welcoming to both myself and my colleague. Told us about our client's day. We had latte's he had bubbles we saw his birthday cake which was stunning and very personal to his love of boats. He
was asked what he would like for his dinner and got his wish. Steak.
Everyone is so attentive and there is such a lovely atmosphere from the minute you walk through the door. The rooms are clean, spacious well appointed with a homely feel. The staff are friendly and chatty. I definitely would rate it 5.
Well done to everyone!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.926)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.926) out of 10 for Oakbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.926 for Oakbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (512 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 551 Ratings = 4.926
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakbank Care Home is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
