My husband has dementia and the Day Care Service has been excellent. He is well - cared for and he enjoys all the activities, the staff, the food + loved the stimulation. For me as a carer it allows me time to re-charge to look after him.

I and my husband feel very comfortable using your daycare centre.
We have found the staff naturally caring and confident in their abilities. They neither hurry nor patronise patients or carers whilst providing a full day of activities and good food.

Happy, smiling faces at the end of the day are a testament to their good care of a vulnerable group of people.

My husband attends the day centre two days a week, he can't wait to get there and his memory is improving. The staff are very patient and they make and do all sorts of things. When I go to collect him all the patients are laughing and with a very happy atmosphere. The manager goes out of her way to accommodate any request, we could not have found a better day centre - score 11/10.

Warm welcome on arrival. Mum enjoys her day very much. Everything is very organised and a lovely venue with good parking. All the staff are smiling and make the day especially important for somebody living alone. She loves the lunch!

Very professionally run. Lovely, welcoming staff who offer various activities such as games, crafts, music enjoyment, if you wish to participate or just to enjoy the company of others. The centre is spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Staff go over and above to make your day enjoyable. I can relax for a few hours in the knowledge that my husband is well looked after - I don't know what I would do without this facility now!

A warm, bright and welcoming venue with warm, bright and welcoming staff. My mother gets to do a variety of activities, some of which she hasn't done in decades, which she thoroughly enjoys. Knowing my mother is in safe hands in a safe environment enables me to have peace of mind and enjoy a few hours to myself. She always looks forward to coming to the club. Long may it continue.

My father attends once a week so that I, as his daughter and carer, can have a day off, knowing that he is very well cared for and enjoying himself. The care he receives in the best. The staff are brilliant at helping him to join in and also receive his exercise program. All his needs are met and I would definitely recommend this facility.

Kerry-Ann Moore
Kerry-Ann MooreJob Title:Day Centre Manager

I’ve worked in care for many years, particularly dementia-friendly homes and centres. I have undertaken many training courses related to dementia and mental health.

Before joining Care UK, I worked in a domiciliary setting as a Head of Care up until the beginning of 2023, when I joined Hartismere Place. I knew a lot of people who enjoyed working for Care UK, and when I looked around the home all the residents here were happy and enjoying life.

My role in the day club is to make older people feel supported and understood and also to provide support to their carers or family members. The day club helps people to feel less isolated, and they get to make great new friends while they are with us. Seeing people’s faces light up while they are at the day centre makes me proud of what I do. I love getting to know everyone, and I always end up learning something new from them.

I think you need to be fun, creative and friendly in this role. It’s helpful to have a positive outlook on things and not be afraid to join in. It's also important to be approachable and have a good sense of humour.

I like to go to the gym in my spare time. I’m a big foodie too, so I like to go out and try new foods and restaurants. I'm also kept busy at home with my three dogs and love going out on walks with them in the forests nearby.
