All of the staff have always been happy to greet and meet. I have approached the staff with various questions, and if not their remit, they have helped me find the person available to assist with my query.
My mum (in-law) has been so happy since moving here. With the carers popping in during the day,
a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Thanks for such a kind review - it is a pleasure to look after Mum, and we are so pleased you are all happy that Mum made the move to Barley Court. We pride ourselves on being one big family and glad you have been a part of this.

Excellent place to live, cannot fault staff in any way. The big problem is getting any maintenance done.

The overall quality of carers is good. They are friendly, helpful and efficient although there is a problem with communication. The team leaders are also friendly and helpful although once again communication is really poor. Appointments are made and not notified, the same with cancellations. I have
asked to see a team leader for the past week but no visit and no message!

My father has resided at Barley Court for over 3 years and we are very pleased with the standard of his treatment. He is also very happy to reside here and has made friends with staff and fellow residents.

I would like to say a big thank you to all of the staff at Barley Court. Mum has lived here for 4 years and they have been the happiest since Dad passed away. Everyone works so hard to look after the residents and during Covid I felt positive that Mum could not have been in better hands.
Mum has a
lovely relationship with the staff as do I when I visit. Mum's flat is lovely and spacious, looking out onto the garden and fish pond. We couldn't ask for more. Thanks again.

My brother continues to thrive at Barley Court thanks to the excellent care provided by the staff. There is frequent entertainment in the bar which he enjoys. Since last year all the windows have been replaced as well as the heating system.

Since my grandad moved into Barley Court in 2019, he has been really happy. The staff are excellent and very caring. They always have time for him, and he gets all the care he needs. He enjoys the activities the staff provide. In June, he turned 100, and thanks to Barley Court allowing us to use their
facilities, we were able to have a get-together with all the family, including his grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren.

I would say they are on a par with anywhere else. It has been quiet so I can sleep. I've joined in the activities. The carers are friendly and helpful. I've made some friends while I've been here.

From the time of moving into Barley Court my mother was made to feel welcome. There was a friendly, family atmosphere and she felt happy and safe. The care team were so supportive and quick to respond to situations such as 'black dog' days as well as periods of illness.
Everyone was approachable and
helpful, their presence was reassuring to both my mother and I. She was so happy and felt lucky to have such wonderful, caring people around her.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.326)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.326) out of 10 for Barley Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Extra Care Housing is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.826 for Barley Court is calculated as follows: ( (20 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.826
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    5 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months: 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.5 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.5, 5th = 0.5)

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Barley Court is based on 2 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 = 3.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Extra Care Housing does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
