Review of Sydney House from Jill T (Niece of Resident) published on 25 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Sydney House is a home where you soon feel part of a family. The staff genuinely care for their residents. Not only has my uncle been welcomed into this family but I have too. The staff are always so welcoming and helpful. My uncle always looks very well groomed and he takes part in lots of the activities. The whole place is exceptionally clean and there are never any unpleasant smells. When I leave my uncle I know he is being well looked after and he is safe. I would like to say a big thank you from management to caring staff for making us both so welcome.

Review of Ellacombe from Penny L (Partner of Resident) published on 17 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
My overall experience of the care of my partner at Ellacombe was excellent.

Only one sore point was activities, as I felt these were not enough. That's not to say the person who currently does the activities wasn't delivering a good service, but that with what resources she has she does very well, but those resources could be tripled in time and money, to produce an excellent outcome for the residents, and job satisfaction for her!

Reply from Martin Mayega, Manager at Ellacombe

Review of Beauchamp House from Mike H (Son of Resident) published on 7 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been a resident at Beauchamp House for over 5 years and I am grateful for the wonderful support she has received during this time.
The care team is exceptionally kind, patient and treat Mum with dignity at all times..
All areas are spotless and there is a wonderful atmosphere around the place.
The new Management Team require a specific mention. They have taken running a care home to a new level and require special praise and thanks. They are particularly adept at communicating with next of kin, mindful that I live 3 hours away and cannot just 'pop in' for a chat.

I would recommend Beauchamp House to any family looking for peace of mind.

Review of Harker House from Angela W (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Mum received love, patience, respect, care and kindness during a most vulnerable time in her life. Staff interacted and spent time getting to know her. I could relax knowing she ate well. Staff did everything possible to help create a happy and positive environment. I will always be thankful for the care shown by staff more like family and it is a comfort knowing mum was at Harker House for her final years.

Review of Harker House from Brenda G (Sister of Resident) published on 16 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My brother first came with Dementia and was always jolly and cheeky. The staff reciprocated, but with respect. Now for his last months, although unable to do much they still treated him with humour which he obviously enjoyed as he would smile, we appreciated this very much. They always treated us almost as friends and seemed a dedicated group. We were impressed by the whole service given and couldn't have wished for a better end for our much loved brother, husband, uncle and father. Thank you.

Reply from Paul Coleman, Registered Manager at Harker House

Review of Westfields from Teresa C (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My father spent 2 weeks at Westfields while work was being carried out at his home. He enjoyed his stay at this time, being able to chat with other residents, spending time in the garden and communal sitting rooms watching TV.
He said the food was good and the staff looked after him very well, getting a shower every day and having his clothes all laundered ready for his return home
A lovely clean place for the residents.
I spoke with a few of the residents and they have so much praise for the staff and the care given over their years living in Westfields.

Thank you to all involved with looking after my dad.

Sadly our aunt will not be returning to Rebecca Court as she is not likely to come out of hospital. But her time at the home has been excellent. Care could not have been bettered. All the staff have been lovely with her and so friendly and caring to us. She loved the food (always commented on it!!) and was always clean and tidy - as was the home itself. We are so pleased we chose Rebecca Court for her. Thank you to all the staff.

Review of Ellacombe from L K (Wife of Resident) published on 7 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

Considering the shortage of care workers Ellacombe does a very good job with many caring and considerate staff. My husband can be very aggressive and I understand why some of the staff are unwilling to do personal care with him.

Thank you for your kind words. We do our absolute best to ensure that we support every resident, regardless of how they present. Review of Cranmer House from Nicola B (Wife of Resident) published on 12 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My husband has just spent 18 nights in Cranmer House whilst I was on holiday. He was quite reluctant to go but the kindness and professionalism of the staff won him over. He had nothing but praise for all the staff. Kirsty & Paula run an excellent team and I was able to have a holiday without having any concerns whatsoever. Both Peter and I would/will have no qualms in using this service again in the near future. It would be the ideal place for Peter on a permanent basis if at all possible.

Review of Ellacombe from Barbara A (Wife of Resident) published on 8 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I cannot speak too highly of Ellacombe. All the staff I've come across have been kind and caring even though my husband's behaviour is very challenging, Another care home wouldn't take him because of this. His physical needs have increased considerably since he has been in the home as well but at no point has there been any doubt that they will continue to care for him. He is getting more attention from the doctor than he's ever had from our local surgery.

Ellacombe literally rescued me in my hour of need. I was at the end of my tether and dread to think what the outcome would have been if I hadn't found Ellacombe. The staff have been so welcoming and kind to both me and my daughter during what has been an extremely stressful experience.

Reply from Martin Mayega, Manager at Ellacombe

Since November 2025 Alf is sitting in a chair 3 times too big thus he don't sit up straight. The chair he's in, the footrest is now broken, and I have been told it's up to me to buy a new chair. After paying over £90,000 since he has been in the home, and being promised a new chair 18 months ago isn't fair. Norse only wants to take money and do nothing for it.

Mum has just had two weeks respite care in High Haven and had a wonderful time. She keeps talking about how lovely are, and how well they looked after her. I agree - each time I visited, the staff were absolutely lovely - so friendly, welcoming and helpful. I really couldn't recommend High Haven strongly enough. Mum is already looking, forward to going back later in the year, and I know while she is there, I can relax knowing that she is in great hands. 100% happy!
