Ellacombe

from F H (Respite Resident) published on 11 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

I felt I was left alone with nothing to do much of the time. There was no one to talk to, as most of the other residents were unable to communicate clearly. There were only 2 staff most of the time & they were kept busy with hoisting people in and out of places or chasing after the wanderers, or calming
others down, breaking up disputes, etc. An extra person would give out the medications.
Nights were scary with people shouting, moving around corridors, trying to open doors. My bed was linked to an alarm, so I was afraid to get off my bed. I went home traumatised.

Recently, my husband has been admitted to Munhaven Care Home, as unfortunately, I can no longer give him the care at home to meet his needs. At Munhaven, I have nothing but praise for all those to care for their residents. Everyone is so kind, gentle, loving and treated with dignity to all they care
for; nothing is too much trouble. They have patience in abundance. I feel my husband's needs are well catered for and well looked after. I find nothing but kindness given to me and my family when visiting my husband.

My mum has been living here now since January this year she had come from another facility where the care staff had been taken away so she is now relived to know they are always here if something happens (as am I).
I only have the highest praise for how my mum is treated. She feels she is treated with
dignity and kindness, I am here most days so I get to see the way mum is looked after, the staff go the extra mile to be kind and patient as mum has memory issues - so I know its not easy for them, I am really impresed and mum is peacefully happy

from Phyllis W (Respite Resident) published on 18 July 2025

I recently stayed at St Edmunds for respite care, and from the moment I arrived until the day I left, everything was truly outstanding.
All of the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, it genuinely felt like a home away from home. Their warmth, care, and professionalism made a real difference,
and I'm incredibly grateful for the support I received during my stay.
I'm already looking forward to my next visit in September. I highly recommend St Edmunds, it's a truly lovely home, and the staff are absolutely amazing and the food is excellent too .

Excellent sheltered housing, designed around the needs and requirements of residents. Wide corridors and doors, walk in showers, good size kitchens are just some of the features. The staff are lovely, friendly and attentive - nothing seems to be too much trouble.
Plenty of room in each flat for your
own furniture etc, and there are comfortable, airy communal lounges.
Regular events for residents and even a dedicated room for mobility scooters.

What an absolute wonderful care home Munhaven is. My dad became a resident in June and the weight that's been lifted, particularly for my mum is amazing. We feel it's like one happy family and the care provided is outstanding and so obvious to see. Everyone is very caring, compassionate and patient
and all helped to make my dad feel settled and happy very quickly. We know my dad is receiving 24/7 excellent care that he deserves and we will feel eternally grateful to all in Munhaven. Thank you

Lydia Eva Court

from John G (Husband of Resident) published on 3 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My wife went into Lydia Eva on 5th March 2025 for 2 weeks respite which whilst there resulted in her becoming a full time resident
She has now been there nearly 4 months and has settled in well, this can only be put down to the staff who are wonderful and so caring
The accommodation is first class,
the rooms are spacious and extremely clean
Laundry services could not be better
She obviously enjoys the food as she has put on weight and looks very well
Could not wish for a better place for my wife to be and would highly recommend
My only downside observation is the state of the gardens which is such a shame as they need a lot of care and attention, I can only assume cut backs and finance are the problem, however one item could be addressed in 5 minutes, outside the lounge which my wife uses there is some broken furniture and a flower pot full of cigarette ends which have been there all the while she has been a resident, such a shame

Reply from Lisa Utting, Care Home Manager at Lydia Eva Court

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback, it always provides us with the opportunity to reflect on what the lived experience feels and looks like to our Residents their Families, Friends & Significant others and enables us to improve upon what we do if there is an opportunity to do so and through your feedback, you have provided us with an opportunity to address the issues you observed. We have just begun work on the garden again and l hope that over the coming months you will see the improvements where they are being made.I will ensure that your kind words are also shared with the Care & Domestic Team who support those who live on Broads House.Thank you

Mayflower Court

from Stephen E (Son of Resident) published on 1 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother resided at Mayflower Court for the last year of her life. She had dementia and during this period she progressively deteriorated until finally passing away at the age of 98. Throughout her stay the staff were attentive and caring. Even when she became bed bound, they did everything they possibly
could to ensure that her quality of life was as good as it could be. In the final weeks and days, working in conjunction with the district nurse, they made sure that she was pain and anxiety free, and at the end they were respectful and hugely supportive of the family. My wife and I would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the professionalism and warmth shown by all of the team members with whom we came into contact.

On 11th April 2024, at the age of 98, my Mum moved into Mayflower Court. She had lived in her council flat for 68 years, 43 of them on her own following the loss of my Dad in 1981. At the age of 99, Mum passed away peacefully in her sleep on 31st May.
THANK YOU to all the staff at Mayflower Court,
who treated my Mum with dignity, compassion, infinite patience and great kindness.
Mayflower Court is a blueprint for dementia care.

My mother has been a resident for 6 months. The staff at the home are very friendly and welcoming. My mother enjoys the food in the light and airy dining room. There are several nice places to sit both inside and outside. My mother enjoys participating in activities that take place in the mornings.
I would give 5 stars for facilities if there was a bar or a gym.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you and your staff, you looked after my partner for a week which enabled me to have a respite.
Myself and the family have asked my partner how did she find her stay with you, and she found all the staff very helpful and kind, and enjoyed her trip out.

My husband has a week's respite care at Munhaven. Everyone there were very welcoming and caring. Lots of activities and plenty of food! My husband appreciated the suppers! The home was comfortable with small seating areas and garden.
