Registered Night Nurse

New Lodge Nursing Home is seeking an experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our friendly and professional night team working 22 hours per week.

New Lodge is a 34-bed, CQC-registered nursing home providing high-quality nursing, palliative and end-of-life care for adults with complex healthcare needs. Our residents require a wide range of specialist nursing interventions, including the management of tracheostomies, gastrostomy feeding tubes (PEG/RIG), urinary catheters and other complex clinical conditions.

The Role

As a Registered Night Nurse, you will practise in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code, delivering safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care throughout the night.

Working closely with the Registered Manager and wider multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised care, ensuring residents receive the highest standard of clinical support while maintaining their dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver safe, effective and person-centred nursing care during night shifts.

· Assess residents' physical, psychological and social needs.

· Develop, implement and evaluate individualised care plans.

· Administer and manage medications safely in accordance with NMC standards.

· Monitor residents' health and respond promptly to any signs of deterioration.

· Deliver complex nursing care, including:

o Tracheostomy care

o PEG/RIG feeding and medication administration

o Catheter care

o Wound management

o Palliative and end-of-life care

· Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic care records.

· Liaise effectively with GPs, community teams, relatives and other healthcare professionals.

· Supervise and support Care Assistants and Senior Care Staff during the night.

· Promote safeguarding, infection prevention and person-centred practice.

· Participate in clinical audits, mandatory training and continuous professional development.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

· Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with a valid NMC PIN.

· Minimum 6–12 months' post-registration experience.

· Current NMC revalidation maintained.

· Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.

· Experience working with residents who have complex nursing needs.

· Good understanding of recognising and responding to clinical deterioration.

· Knowledge of:

o Mental Capacity Act (MCA)

o Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)

o Safeguarding Adults

o Infection Prevention and Control

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

· Compassionate, reliable and committed to delivering outstanding care.

· Ability to work independently while supporting the wider multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

· Experience in nursing home, neurological or rehabilitation settings.

· Experience in palliative and end-of-life care.

· Knowledge of electronic medication administration systems (eMAR).

· Experience managing tracheostomies, PEG/RIG feeding tubes and long-term catheters.
