My mum is a resident at New Lodge, she has early onset dementia and is only 62. I was worried that because some of the residents are older that she would lose her identity and all the activities wouldn't suit her but I was so wrong. She's treated like someone of 62 should be treated. Every single staff
member I have ever had interaction with has been amazing, friendly, caring and understanding. I would highly recommend this nursing home.

My mother in law is a resident of New Lodge, the care she receives is second to none and all staff are friendly and welcoming. The facilities are always clean and tidy. I often see my mother in law participating in activities whether it be bingo or chair based exercises. She really seems to have settled
in very well.
Reply from Sue White, Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. It is always nice to receive such a positive review. Our staff work hard to provide care with a person centred approach to all our residents in all of their care needs.

My sister has been there about a year and they have been amazing with her and us when visiting .
She has plenty things to do and the staff know her and her ways they are very professional.
She loved the ascot day when she got dressed up this put a great smile on my sisters face while we don't see
much as she is really not herself it's a horrible illness.
Reply from Sue White, Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for your positive review. My mum Ann was taken into the New Lodge in October 2025 for end of life care. She was a resident for 4 weeks. Her care was the best you could ever wish for. She was very poorly but every staff member went above and beyond to make her final weeks comfortable. I cannot thank everyone enough to which
I would highly recommend this care home to everyone.
A special mention to Sue and Karly who knew how to deal with our worries as mum was dying. They talked us through what would happen when she passed. They were so compassionate and caring.
Also, Amar was again instrumental in the running of the care home. He was so friendly every time I visited and again could not help us enough. It was a very tough time for the whole family but without Amar, Sue and Karly it would have been more distressing.
What a team. the owner should cherish staff like these.
Thank you
Reply from Sue White, Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeThank you Mark for you kind comments. The team at New Lodge consider all our residents and their families our own. The care of my Mum was exemplary. Throughout her 18 month stay she was treated with great kindness and patience. She was 96 years old and was receiving palliative care for breast cancer. She was naturally scared about her condition but the staff gave her reassurance and made her comfortable. I thank
you so much for looking after throughout her time with you.

My mum was a resident at New Lodge from November 23 to April 25, she had advanced dementia and frailty. For the whole time she was treated with kindness dignity, respect and loving care. The staff are some of the most dedicated kind people you could ever meet. The home is beautifully clean, homely and
welcoming. Every visit no matter what time of day or night we were greeted with a smile, warmth and a drink ( and often biscuits and cake !). The care is exemplary. As a family we can't thank New Lodge staff and the owner enough for such wonderful care and also support to Mum and our family right to the very end. There really are no words good enough to describe this wonderful group of people who made my dear mothers last months so special. Thank you to you all.

The care that is provided is 2nd to none. My daughter is unable to do anything for herself & is not always cooperative.
I am extremely grateful that her unwillingness at times has no bearing on the quality of care administered.

Our mother is a resident at New Lodge Nursing home. She has Huntingtons disease which is a complex illness. She has always received the highest level of care for her needs. The staff always prioritise her dignity. The staff are highly trained and experienced to deal with the complex and challenging
nature of the illness. The environment is always clean and standards in the home are high throughout. They also do regular activities to engage with the residents and families are always welcomed. The last few years has been difficult for us as a family but the home has always provided support and guidance even in the most challenging of circumstances. The staff that look after our mother on a daily basis or the most caring, thoughtful people and we are grateful for their hard work and kindness.

My Nan moved here after a hip replacement.
This nursing home is probably the best we have been to. The staff are amazing as well as the managers.
We really couldn't ask for better care. The staff are always happy and treat the residents with the up most respect as well as the family members. Since
being there my Nans over all mental health has also improved which is amazing. We wish she was there from the start

Our mum past away a week before Christmas after battling Huntington's disease for nearly 20 years. I moved her from a previous home as there was a few red flags and she's been residing at The New Lodge for about 6 years. Mum's time here, the care given has been excellent but not only to her but to myself
and brother as well, it's been our second family. Mum fought her illness right until the very end and the dignity and respect given is something that we'll never forget. Even mum had her send off from the home which is something I'm so grateful for. Genuinely a lovely, caring team.

The New Lodge Nursing Home is truly outstanding. My 94-year-old mother-in-law spent the last two months of her life there. The kindness, care, compassion and professionalism of all the staff in respect of the residents, and relatives, was wonderful to witness. Quote from her son: 'I never imagined the
immense gratitude I'd feel for the care and love Mum received. It humbles me.'. The whole family feels the same. Thank you to everybody at The New Lodge. You are all stars.

This care home may not be a high-end classy hotel, but the care, love and support the staff provide are without doubt the best you can get! Nothing is too much trouble and the home is full of love and laughter for residents, family and visitors alike. My husband died recently, and although I was not
with him, I am sure he knew he was surrounded by friends. When I finally arrived I was greeted by staff who were genuinely distressed by his death, so an extra big thank you to all concerned. There were many family and friends who visited during his nine-month stay, but not one person had a bad comment to make - in fact, everyone said what a happy and loving place to be a resident in, which was very reassuring. So a very big thanks to everyone involved from the cleaners at the bottom, to the senior medical staff and administrators and owners, thank you from a widow and her very grateful family.

My grandmother was transferred to New Lodge from the local hospital on a fast-track end-of-life pathway. Throughout her stay she has been treated with the utmost care and compassion by all of the staff. New Lodge has gone out of its way to make her as comfortable as possible despite very difficult end-of-life
symptoms, and her wishes have been placed at the centre of her care. As my grandmother’s only relative I have also been really cared for during this time, with no restrictions upon visiting, and have even been given meals so that I can spend the most time possible with her.
Very quickly following admission it was clear that staff not only knew my grandmother’s medical needs but had taken time to speak to her and find out about her as a person.
Very real care and compassion have been central to her stay.
Whilst unable to participate in the main activities being visited by lambs and having the opportunity to have her hair cut (even in bed) have made such a difference to her.

On our first visit, the manager welcomed us warmly and showed us all around.
Our first impressions were a bright, immaculately clean and happy home. We saw two rooms, choosing the one we liked for Mum. Next, we met some of the staff and had a long chat over a very welcome cuppa. We just knew then,
we had found the right place. Mum moved in a few days later. Her room was spotless, bright and airy, overlooking the garden - just perfect. From that very first day, she received outstanding care from the whole 'family', who make The New Lodge Nursing Home what it is - a truly special home, full of wonderful, extremely caring, compassionate people. You simply couldn't choose a better home for your loved one. Sadly, Mum's time here was all too short but the loving care she received is appreciated more than words can say. We will be forever grateful to our 'family' at The New Lodge for everything they did for Mum and for us. Thank you all, so much, from the bottom of our hearts.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.939) out of 10 for The New Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.964 for The New Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 222 Ratings = 4.964
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The New Lodge Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
