My nan was only in for 2 days before she sadly passed away. But she was treated with the utmost respect, dignity and empathy. The staff truly do a remarkable job. And when my nan had passed the family were treated so kindly and catered to for our every need.
Highly recommend.

This care home may not be a high-end classy hotel, but the care, love and support the staff provide are without doubt the best you can get! Nothing is too much trouble and the home is full of love and laughter for residents, family and visitors alike. My husband died recently, and although I was not
with him, I am sure he knew he was surrounded by friends. When I finally arrived I was greeted by staff who were genuinely distressed by his death, so an extra big thank you to all concerned. There were many family and friends who visited during his nine-month stay, but not one person had a bad comment to make - in fact, everyone said what a happy and loving place to be a resident in, which was very reassuring. So a very big thanks to everyone involved from the cleaners at the bottom, to the senior medical staff and administrators and owners, thank you from a widow and her very grateful family.

My grandmother was transferred to New Lodge from the local hospital on a fast-track end-of-life pathway. Throughout her stay she has been treated with the utmost care and compassion by all of the staff. New Lodge has gone out of its way to make her as comfortable as possible despite very difficult end-of-life
symptoms, and her wishes have been placed at the centre of her care. As my grandmother’s only relative I have also been really cared for during this time, with no restrictions upon visiting, and have even been given meals so that I can spend the most time possible with her.
Very quickly following admission it was clear that staff not only knew my grandmother’s medical needs but had taken time to speak to her and find out about her as a person.
Very real care and compassion have been central to her stay.
Whilst unable to participate in the main activities being visited by lambs and having the opportunity to have her hair cut (even in bed) have made such a difference to her.

On our first visit, the manager welcomed us warmly and showed us all around.
Our first impressions were a bright, immaculately clean and happy home. We saw two rooms, choosing the one we liked for Mum. Next, we met some of the staff and had a long chat over a very welcome cuppa. We just knew then,
we had found the right place. Mum moved in a few days later. Her room was spotless, bright and airy, overlooking the garden - just perfect. From that very first day, she received outstanding care from the whole 'family', who make The New Lodge Nursing Home what it is - a truly special home, full of wonderful, extremely caring, compassionate people. You simply couldn't choose a better home for your loved one. Sadly, Mum's time here was all too short but the loving care she received is appreciated more than words can say. We will be forever grateful to our 'family' at The New Lodge for everything they did for Mum and for us. Thank you all, so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
Reply from Sue White, Registered Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. Although your mum's time with us was short, she was an absolute pleasure to care for and will be remembered fondly by us all.

My mum only had three weeks at The New Lodge Nursing Home. She entered the home on end-of-life care. Whilst she was there she had the best care possible. The nursing care she received was five-star. The nurses, care and management staff kept us fully informed of Mum's health and well-being. They were
friendly, caring and loving towards Mum and our family also. Even when she passed away, the respect she got from them all was A-star. Thank you New Lodge Nursing Home for everything.

My mum has lived at her new home, The New Lodge, since last year and I have been very impressed, and reassured by the staff, with the care my mum has and is still receiving. She enjoys the entertainment they provide here too. The staff are like family and you become close friends with the residents
and their family/friends too. The bedrooms are clean, including the dining room and lounges. The garden is lovely, and private, and provides seating arrangements and space for residents and visitors.

Every member of the clinical and non-clinical team gave a gold standard of end-of-life care to our beloved mum. Consistency of excellent compassion, kindness and attention to small important details will never be forgotten. Each member of the team day and night, deserves recognition for always going
the extra mile to make the experience of care the best it can be. Care at the New Lodge is safe, well-led and managed, personalised and empathetic. Care extends to all family members at all times. The respect and dignity shown to our mum was exemplary and appreciated greatly and noticed by all who experienced her care. At the end of life, the family would like to make known how the team and residents were able to pay respects in our mum's final journey past home. Heartfelt thanks for the memories the team have given to our family.

My nan moved into this lovely home on end-of-life care after being in hospital for around 5 weeks. The time she spent here was amazing I can not fault the staff from the moment she moved in to the very end and including after. Very accomodating asked us if we wanted any hot drinks or anything to eat.
Very friendly and chatty explained what was happening what their plan was or what they were going to do very well. There was never a question as to what they meant. Even down to her final trip out of the home, the staff on-site who cared for my nan came out for final goodbyes. Really can not fault anything they did. My nan was always dressed presentable and always clean when she wasn't able to do it herself. Extremely helpful would 100% recommend this home to anyone.

The care my mother received albeit short was outstanding. The staff treated my mother with the utmost respect and dignity throughout her time at the New Lodge Nursing Home. We noticed a big difference in her personal care, something we had not seen previously in other homes, my mother was clean, comfortable
and warm.

The nursing team have been exceptional in their knowledge, care, and compassion and that extended to us her family as we struggled to cope with the final weeks of her life. Both my brother and I were so relieved her final days were spent here and we would recommend this nursing home to anyone.

I can’t thank everyone enough at The New Lodge Nursing Home for their care, kindness and compassion when caring for my mum who had Alzheimer’s disease. Everyone was so kind, ensuring Mum had everything she needed and spending time talking with her and getting to know her. They also took the time to
get to know the family and were so thoughtful during Mum’s final days, meeting her needs and also making sure we were okay, whether it was day or night. All the staff are so professional but it also really does feel like a big family at The New Lodge and we will always be grateful for the outstanding care Mum received during her time there.

My father-in-law sadly passed away last week. The care he received at New Lodge was outstanding. He was kept clean, and well fed and the personal care given was second to none. Every single member of staff was attentive towards him and to us during every visit. We were given video calls when we were
unable to visit. It was clear to see that everyone cared very deeply about him, as evidenced by the depth of feeling when he passed. New Lodge was definitely his 'home' and the staff were like family. Can't thank everyone enough. You will all remain in our hearts for the great things you do.

My sister has complex health needs and has been at The New Lodge for seven years. Throughout this time her care has been outstanding from the whole team. New Lodge truly became my sister's family during lockdown, when we were unable to see her. Now sadly she is on end-of-life care. The nursing team
are exceptional, their knowledge and care have supported us all at this distressing time, always having time to talk, listen and reassure. On New Year's Eve, my sister was extremely unwell, when the manager arrived at 22.30 unbeknown to me, to sit with her through the night. Together, with the nurse, the four of us celebrated the New Year with tears and laughter. A time I had been dreading gave me precious memories I will cherish forever. Thank you again, another example of going above and beyond. My sister can only greet you with a smile but to see the way her face lights up for staff brings tears to your eyes. We will never be able to thank the staff enough for their love and compassion, they are our family.
Reply from Linda Pitt, Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. As you know, our ethos at The New Lodge Nursing Home is that our residents' families are our family. Your sister is a pleasure to look after and her smile is thanks enough.

Prior to Mum going from the hospital to live in the home. We were able to visit and ask lots of questions. My ears and eyes were everywhere having worked in care myself, I found nothing to be concerned about. What I did find, was a bright, airy and well-kept home, there is no odour and the rooms are
lovely. The building is very secure and during the different requirements of the pandemic, this home was at the forefront of protecting everybody and kept us informed. All visitors are made to feel very welcome.
The care my mum received was fabulous, all of her needs were met daily, staff were amazing and went above and beyond for her. They did everything with a heart of gold and if ever she needed anything, it was sorted straight away. I cannot praise the staff enough for what they have done for us. The food was lovely and fresh and presented appropriately for each resident. Entertainment is arranged and all are encouraged to participate, as well as family. Your loved ones will be happy here.
Reply from Linda Pitt, Registered Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeThank you, your mum was an absolute pleasure to look after. She gave us many laughs with her humour and antics. My mum was moved into New Lodge in June last year after a stay in hospital. Choosing a home for Mum was extremely worrying because we were unable to view places due to the pandemic and were just given a list to choose from by the hospital. We were limited as Mum is on end of life care and there were
only select places to consider. We chose New Lodge primarily on its location and their good CQC rating, so in effect, we were winging it! From the moment Mum arrived, we were welcomed with open arms, we were introduced to the staff, given information about the home and its routine. Everyone there treats not only Mum, but the close family with such care and respect. The nursing care is phenomenal, Mum arrived with a pressure sore from the hospital, which they healed and other than the occasional split, it hasn’t got any worse. She is turned and kept beautifully clean. I highly recommend New Lodge for anyone considering nursing home care.
Reply from Linda Pitt, Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. It is a pleasure to look after your mum and of course the family when they visit. Our ethos at New Lodge is that our residents are family and therefore their family become our family. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.970)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.970) out of 10 for The New Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.970 for The New Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (224 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 231 Ratings = 4.97
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The New Lodge Nursing Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
