My sister was moved to New Lodge in March 2020, at the start of the pandemic. A very stressful time for everyone but the home did a great job at settling her and reassuring us. Throughout her stay, they have been attentive, caring, patient and very welcoming when we have been able to visit. We have
only moved her to another home to reduce the very long commute. We were sad to do this as we have built such good relationships with the home and staff. They have treated her and us with dignity and kindness and we wish them well.
Reply from Linda Pitt, Manager at The New Lodge Nursing HomeYour sister was a pleasure to look after. We are pleased that she is now able to be closer to her family and we wish her and you all the very best for the future.

My dad was a resident for over 3 years. The care he received was excellent from every staff member. He was treated like a member of their own family. His past few days they couldn’t have done any more for him and us. They made sure he was comfortable, pain-free and peaceful. This gave so much comfort
to us. The staff are so caring and go the extra mile for their residents and their families.

My dad has recently been discharged from the hospital into The New Lodge Nursing Home.

I cannot praise the outstanding care he is receiving here highly enough. As a family, we feel so grateful to have found such a wonderful home, with such caring, dedicated, selfless staff for our Dad.

It’s been

a really difficult time for our family witnessing the deterioration in Dad’s health, his vascular dementia has robbed him of his personality, and a stroke 2-years ago has also taken his mobility.

We knew he needed more support, but we were worried about him being away from us and his familiar surroundings. Obviously, we didn’t need too.
From that initial call with the owner, I knew everything was going to be ok, Dad would be safe and well cared for.

Staff do everything possible for their residents, and we have full confidence in them all.

Thank you for all you do and continue to do for our Dad; we feel very fortunate.

My dad was transferred from hospital straight to The Lodge. From the first phone call, I made to the home to check if my dad had arrived safely, was so reassuring. What I can’t believe is it’s the only home I have ever visited that doesn’t smell! It is so clean, and the staff are unbelievably friendly.
The manager is so kind; she actually takes the time to feed my dad and sends me pictures of him. She even takes her dog in to see my dad, she realised quite quickly that my dad loves dogs! I have met the management, and they cannot do enough for my dad. I worried so much about my dad being in a home, but The Lodge has made both my dad and my family feel so welcome. They are very thorough with testing visitors for COVID and have everything you need to keep all parties safe during this difficult time. The only reason why we have been able to visit is my dad is because he receiving end of life care. My dad's room is lovely! Thank you so much for looking after my dad so well!

I cannot thank The New Lodge Nursing Home enough for the way they nursed and cared for my husband. He spent two years in their care, following months in various hospitals. He had complex needs, but their superb care and nursing skills helped raise his quality of life. We were so relieved we found the
home who were able to cope with him in such a brilliant way. All the staff, throughout the home, did their utmost to make him feel valued and part of the life of the home and showed great kindness to us over the times we were visiting – both in person and virtually.

We were reassured by the fact that, when needed, the doctor was consulted and called in and we were always kept informed.

The New Lodge is a nursing home, which we would unreservedly recommend to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones to be taken care of with skill, compassion and dedication.

My uncle has been living at the home since Feb 2018. He arrived on end of life care, and here we are three years later! The care he has received has been outstanding, and I have no doubt that without this level of care he would not be with us today. The staff are amazing, their dedication and compassion
are second to none. Nothing is ever to much trouble. I know that my uncle is being well looked after, and all his needs are taken care of. He has a number of health issues including Downs, Dementia, Epilepsy and loss of sight, so he relays on the staff for all of his needs, which they manage excellently.
During the difficult time of Covid, I can only praise the home. The procedures in place are robust and easy to follow for visitors. The home is beautifully clean with additional sanitising of all areas taking place.
I am regularly updated on my uncle's condition, and whenever I call to see how he is doing, I am always greeted with a friendly voice at the end of the phone.

We would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of the team at New Lodge. It was reassuring for us all, her family and her friends, to witness the level of care our Aunt was receiving during her short time with you.

The staff treated her with humanity, kindness and understanding and it was incredibly

touching to see.

What was a particularly sad situation for our Aunt and a difficult time for all who knew her, it was made bearable with your support.

We cannot thank you enough.

I was impressed in many ways by the New Lodge Nursing Home both from the high quality of the facilities provided and the professional and caring attitude shown by all levels of staff. From the first contact on my wife's impending discharge from the NHS Hospital every effort was made to keep me informed
as to the availability of accommodation. I was also impressed by the relationship the Home maintained with the local GPs who I was also able to meet at the Home. Unfortunately, my wife passed away after only 4 months at the home but I really appreciated the care and compassion shown to her in her last few days.

A little background first. My mother has a number of medical issues compounded by advanced dementia resulting in her inability to communicate what hurts and why. One of the complications my mother has in an ulcer on her leg (this being a result of poor care in a previous home unrelated to The New Lodge).
It was decided by the senior care team that Mum needed a complete medical assessment of the ulcer due to no improvement in the condition.

Mother was transferred to the local hospital for a full assessment, a new treatment regime was put in place and Mum returned to The New Lodge a few days later. At all times I was kept fully informed of her progress and briefed on what the new treatments would require.

I must say Mum's personal and health needs are catered for with passion and care by all the team members at the New Lodge. It would not be unfair to say that my mother is treated by the team with the same level of care they would provide to their own mother.

The New Lodge is an excellent nursing home and provide a high standard of care.
My "aunt" was treated with respect, compassion and kept very comfortable at the end of her life. They also looked after us with the same commitment during a difficult time.
The management led by example and maintain an
excellent team including both nursing and ancillary staff.
The manager was always available to keep us updated and made sure there was nothing my "aunt" or we needed.
I am extremely grateful to New Lodge for their excellent care and would not hesitate to recommend them.

The care, compassion and service provided by all the team at New Lodge is nothing short of outstanding. The management team should be praised for their leadership which ensures all the team excel at their role and care for all at New Lodge, whether that be residents or visitors. Without their support
during our dear friend's end of life care, we would have found this distressing time considerably more difficult to cope with. We will be forever grateful and would not hesitate to recommend.

My mother spent her final days here at New Lodge and I cannot praise the staff here highly enough. After a lengthy search of many nursing homes within the area, New Lodge ticked all the boxes. Mum joined the home in May 2017 and settled in straight away. Unfortunately, it wasn't long until we found
out that mum had heart failure and was considered as being in 'End of Life' care with a diagnosis of 2 weeks to live. The manager and her committed staff showed outstanding care and patience nursing mum during this time. She was incontinent, immobile and weak. She could only eat a puréed diet but we knew that the food was freshly cooked and the staff gave their time willingly to help mum eat it and build up her strength. Surprisingly, mum went on to live for a further 10 weeks and I am certain this was due to the care received.
New Lodge is a superb nursing home and our family felt part of a happy community. It is a shame that mum did not live to spend longer here.

Anyone choosing a nursing home need look no further. It was a difficult decision to put my father into care after many episodes in hospital and home care. I didn't know what to expect and was very protective towards him.

However, from the moment he was discharged from hospital and put here I knew

this was his future home. I did visit other homes but no comparison. This refurbished house is contemporary, ensuite rooms light and airy, two lounges and a stunning garden.
It feels like a home, spotlessly clean, with fresh homemade food. I am always welcomed by the staff, their compassion towards the residents is excellent and procedures for medical routines in order. They even took Dads old Yorkie who runs around happy.
The Shadow Minister is passing a bill for pets to go with elderly people but this care home is one step ahead. The residents are clearly well looked after and staff happy too. I can sleep at night as have absolutely 100% trust in this home. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.970)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.970) out of 10 for The New Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.970 for The New Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (224 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 231 Ratings = 4.97
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The New Lodge Nursing Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
