Overall Experience

My sister was a resident from December 2024 until her death in April 2026. She was 95 years old. During this time she wa always treated with love, dignity and respect by all the staff who work hard, collaboratively, with affection and humour. Residents are actively encouraged in exercise, entertainment and activities which sustain levels of motivation, social interaction and life enhancing skills. During her final hours I was deeply moved by the efforts all the staff made to make my sister comfortable. She was ever grateful to all the staff as are all her immediate family. Thank you!

My mother in law went into the care home for respite following a nasty fall. Our family were very apprehensive but immediately we were all very happy with the support given to the whole family. We cannot speak highly enough of the care given. The staff are very special. After 2 weeks we all feel part of the care family. A big thank you to the whole care team

The building is welcoming, mainly always staff around on entering, staff always friendly and have the time of day. Staff seem to multitask so always very busy. Staff show lots of care and love for the really vulnerable or upset residents, cleaning staff on the all all the time. Lots of activities and things, for residents to see and do. Generally a very good atmosphere.

Experience has been very positive. From first being shown around, we were impressed by the homely feeling and the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. We weren't sure how my aunt would settle, but after the first few days she has been fine. She goes regularly into the lounge and takes part in some activities, which we are really happy about. The activities organisers, are great and seem to arrange something for everyone. Everyone is caring and welcoming.

Mum was made welcome from the moment she arrived at Codnor Park. The staff have been wonderful and every time I visited I was made to feel part of a large family. Unfortunately, mum's failing health meant her stay was only a few weeks and in her final days the team were so attentive to mum as well as her family. After her passing she was treated with the utmost dignity and I can highly recommend the home as a safe place to care for loved ones. Thanks to everyone at Codnor Park for your kindness and compassion.

Mum was sadly only at Codnor Park Residential Home for a shot period of time but I always felt that she was well looked after and cared for. As I live in the South West, I would often phone to check on how mum was doing. What impressed me greatly was who ever I spoke to on the phone immediately knew who I was talking about and could give me a clear update on how mum was faring. Everybody was kind and caring, treating mum with compassion and dignity.

My Dad had a terminal cancer diagnosis in December 2024 and was entitled to free care under the NHS's continuing care scheme as long as he opted for a nursing home on their list. We declined this and opted to pay for Codnor Park which we knew to be a good home as Mum was a resident there before she died last May. Yet again the standard of end-of-life care was second to none. The environment is bright, clean, welcoming and there are plenty of activities but it is the staff that make the real difference. Their care, compassion and professionalism in looking after Dad and my brother and I was fantastic and we are grateful to them for making an already difficult year for us more bearable. We would highly recommend this home.

I am Registered Manager of both Codnor Park Care Home and The Firs Nursing Home.

I love the feeling of going home knowing that something that I have been able to do has had a massive positive impact on the people living in our home.

The residents drive my passion. I have so much love for them, seeing them smile and enjoy living at the home and being able to support people who are on end of life care, knowing that you have provided exactly what they have needed in that time.

I often forget I’m at work because it feels like home. The people around are like family and I love them all dearly.

One day we will be old and I’d like to know that there is someone to fight for me the way I fight for them.

Hi, I’m Phoebe! I absolutely love having a good chat and getting to know the families and individuals I help. My goal is to make the process of finding the right home as easy and reassuring as possible.

This is something close to my heart — I’ve had two of my own family members stay within our group, so I truly understand how important it is to feel confident and comfortable in your choice.

If you call us during the week, chances are you’ll get me on the other end of the phone. I’m always happy to answer any questions you have — and if I don’t know the answer right away, I’ll make it my mission to find out for you.
