This home is a lovely environment, friendly staff, and very attentive to the residents. My dad is very happy here, he says the food is excellent and he always looks forward to meal times, and as long as my dad is happy, then so am I.

Throughout August 2024 the care home have had some really good activities. I came and had a meal with my father, which was lovely. They had a Summer fair and we won lots of prizes on the Tombola and raffle. It was outside in the garden which is kept clean and presentable. And most importantly the carers
are very good and show respect to the residents. My father has needed the GP and this happens promptly and efficiently. All this makes me and our family feel comfortable and confident with Dad in here.

We moved my sister to Codnor Park after being discharged from Derby Royal Hospital. She was physically very weak on discharge, and we thought in need of extra care to regain her strength and confidence. Codnor Park was chosen because of its convenience and good reviews. After visiting to look at the
facilities and meet the staff, it was an easy decision to transfer my sister directly to Codnor. During the last three months, she has become much stronger and is physically much better able to cope than she has been for six months. I put this down to three good meals a day and social contact with the excellent professional team at Codnor Park. She does still want to return home but we all now believe she has a reasonable chance of success in the move thanks to the care provided by the Codnor Park team.

Codnor Care Home is absolutely lovely. My Mum is settled and happy. She is cared for really well, and I do not have to worry about her. The staff and carers are all loving and caring toward the residents and always make you feel welcome when you are visiting. What a lovely care home.

This is the second time Mum has been in respite at Codnor Park. She smiles when she enters on the first day and absolutely beams when we leave with her hair and nails looking great. As a family, we cannot fault the care provided and this means all the staff. Mum feels very safe, and enjoys the family
environment but mainly is listened to. Whilst there she enjoys the entertainment, crafts, plenty of refreshments and lovely meals. In fact, her only concern is the fact she may have put weight on!

When I enquired at Codnor Park Care Home, if my mother could become a resident, I was greeted with the most open response from everyone I met.
Mum was very frail, but very aware of the kindness and consideration she received from all staff. Her particular desires were accommodated, with a positive
can-do attitude.
'Not a problem' to any request was always the answer.
When Mum became seriously ill, she returned from hospital to the nursing home next door.
The care she received was compassionate and of the highest standard, until the very end.
The staff not only looked after my mum, but the whole family too.
Thank you for this level of care.
I would certainly recommend both establishments, without hesitation.

Following a speculative visit, where a member of staff happily showed us around and let us see the available rooms, to a quickly arranged visit and assessment of Dad's needs and offer of a place at Codnor Park, staff have been open and engaged. This holds from the managers to care staff, cleaners, laundry,
and kitchen staff (not forgetting the decorators who moved a van to allow parking.) Dad managed the transfer and was able to settle quickly. On visits, he's content, appropriately dressed and clean. Assistance with mobilising is sensitively and consistently delivered. Medical input has been sought appropriately and health needs supported.

I have visited my friend on a couple of occasions since he moved into the home. He has found it quite difficult to settle in the home, but the staff have been very caring, and patient and got to know his character and his needs. On one occasion they accommodated his free spirit by taking him on one
to one walk around the grounds, to help him feel calm. He enjoys being outside, so staff are encouraging him to help plant up the raised beds in the garden. The staff are very kind to him.

My Grandma (recently blind but with full mental capacity) came to Codnor Park residential home whilst she recovered after breaking her hip in January. She returned to her own home (with carers popping in) and hated it. She requested to return here and sell her own home, as she feels so safe and cared
for by the wonderful staff. Now all the family can relax as we have the peace of mind she is cared for. Communication is fantastic and I am now moving my mother-in-law into their nursing home next door, as we have that much confidence in them (compared to previous experiences elsewhere).

I cannot recommend this home enough. Mum is spotlessly clean, well-fed, and best of all happy.
She's probably the happiest I have seen her since Dad died 18 years ago.
The home is cheerful and spotlessly clean also.
There are plenty of activities to join in with.
The staff goes above and beyond
to ensure all the resident's needs and expectations are more than met.
Well done, Codnor Park.

All good! Mother's Day bistro brought Ma out! She's quite unsociable and imagine she's hard work sometimes. Then we see her smiling and talking with everyone! Good to know she's safe here. The home is great putting on so many activities for the residents and we're sure she's happy (when we're not around!).

All in all, it has been a very positive experience for my grandad.
There are some brilliant staff at Codnor Park who go above and beyond, keep me informed of any issues and help Grandad with care needs.
Grandad is always happy to stay at Codnor Park and from our conversations he is having a good
time. Just one thing Grandad says “The fish and chips on a Friday could be better.”
Thank you to everyone at Condor Park for the support with my grandad.

Amazing staff, everybody who works at the home is just so helpful and caring. They make my grandma's day and look after her 24/7. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.822)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.822) out of 10 for Codnor Park Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.822 for Codnor Park Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (265 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 320 Ratings = 4.822
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Codnor Park Residential Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am Registered Manager of both Codnor Park Care Home and The Firs Nursing Home.

I love the feeling of going home knowing that something that I have been able to do has had a massive positive impact on the people living in our home.

The residents drive my passion. I have so much love for them, seeing them smile and enjoy living at the home and being able to support people who are on end of life care, knowing that you have provided exactly what they have needed in that time.

I often forget I’m at work because it feels like home. The people around are like family and I love them all dearly.
One day we will be old and I’d like to know that there is someone to fight for me the way I fight for them.
