I visited a friend for the first time on a rainy May afternoon, although I had been in the building for a Christmas Fayre & VE celebrations, which were fun and well attended.
After signing in, I was promptly taken to her room, passing through bright, light reception rooms on each floor where residents
were relaxing, chatting and resting on comfortable furniture, with TV and refreshments available. Her room was a 5-star, ensuite, with a view over the park. It was immaculate, and she commented on how caring everyone was.

My sister was a resident from December 2024 until her death in April 2026. She was 95 years old. During this time she wa always treated with love, dignity and respect by all the staff who work hard, collaboratively, with affection and humour. Residents are actively encouraged in exercise, entertainment
and activities which sustain levels of motivation, social interaction and life enhancing skills. During her final hours I was deeply moved by the efforts all the staff made to make my sister comfortable. She was ever grateful to all the staff as are all her immediate family. Thank you!

Experience has been very positive. From first being shown around, we were impressed by the homely feeling and the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. We weren't sure how my aunt would settle, but after the first few days she has been fine. She goes regularly into the lounge and takes part in some
activities, which we are really happy about. The activities organisers, are great and seem to arrange something for everyone. Everyone is caring and welcoming.

The building is welcoming, mainly always staff around on entering, staff always friendly and have the time of day. Staff seem to multitask so always very busy. Staff show lots of care and love for the really vulnerable or upset residents, cleaning staff on the all all the time. Lots of activities and
things, for residents to see and do. Generally a very good atmosphere.

My relative has been a resident since January 2022/23. All the staff who work at the home have been professional, efficient, and empathetic when needed. They settled in almost immediately, accepting the genuine kindness shown all around. They have thrived both mentally and physically. The positive attitude
of my relative, coupled with the working ethic of the staff, has made their life at the home a pleasure. Always considered their dietary and medical condition has never been a barrier to all their emotional and health needs. Excellent service.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We were understandably very dubious about placing Dad into nursing care, particularly because of a previous difficult experience of where involvement from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) had been required. That experience made us extremely cautious and anxious about making the right decision, however,
Kelly, Sarah and the wonderful staff from The Firs have completely restored our confidence. Communication is excellent, involved in events, meetings, and any changes to his care needs. Conversations with staff are open, honest, and realistic, and they consistently demonstrate a deep level of respect and empathy for all residents. Knowing Dad has compassionate 24-hour care has been a great relief, and it's clear how much he enjoys the company of the many staff members who look after him, he has built so many friendships and finally has a smile on his face. The staff are family to us, and the love they show is everything a human being so deserves. Forever grateful and blessed.

We completely understand how difficult and worrying it can be when making decisions about nursing care, especially after a challenging previous experience. It means a great deal to hear that Kelly, Sarah and the team at The Firs have been able to restore your confidence and support you through this journey.
We are so pleased that you feel well informed and involved, and that communication has been open and honest. Most importantly, it is wonderful to hear that your dad is happy, building friendships and has that smile back, that truly means everything to us.
Your kind words about the team being like family and the compassion they show will mean so much to everyone. We will be sure to share your feedback with them.
Thank you again for your trust and support, it really does mean the world to us.

It's a care home that you feel welcome when you're there. If there are any issues when you're there they take it somewhere private so it doesn't upset others. The entertainment is unbelievable (instead of care homes where residents just eat and sleep). Can go home after a visit knowing our loved ones
are cared for x
