We were understandably very dubious about placing Dad into nursing care, particularly because of a previous difficult experience of where involvement from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) had been required. That experience made us extremely cautious and anxious about making the right decision, however,
Kelly, Sarah and the wonderful staff from The Firs have completely restored our confidence. Communication is excellent, involved in events, meetings, and any changes to his care needs. Conversations with staff are open, honest, and realistic, and they consistently demonstrate a deep level of respect and empathy for all residents. Knowing Dad has compassionate 24-hour care has been a great relief, and it's clear how much he enjoys the company of the many staff members who look after him, he has built so many friendships and finally has a smile on his face. The staff are family to us, and the love they show is everything a human being so deserves. Forever grateful and blessed.
Reply from Phoebe Booth, Media and Community Relations Manager at The Firs Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review.
We completely understand how difficult and worrying it can be when making decisions about nursing care, especially after a challenging previous experience. It means a great deal to hear that Kelly, Sarah and the team at The Firs have been able to restore your confidence and support you through this journey.
We are so pleased that you feel well informed and involved, and that communication has been open and honest. Most importantly, it is wonderful to hear that your dad is happy, building friendships and has that smile back, that truly means everything to us.
Your kind words about the team being like family and the compassion they show will mean so much to everyone. We will be sure to share your feedback with them.
Thank you again for your trust and support, it really does mean the world to us.

It's a care home that you feel welcome when you're there. If there are any issues when you're there they take it somewhere private so it doesn't upset others. The entertainment is unbelievable (instead of care homes where residents just eat and sleep). Can go home after a visit knowing our loved ones
are cared for x

Heanor Park Care Home has been a life saver for my family and my mum who is resident here. With my mum being deaf and only communicating by sign language and diagnosed with Alzheimer's she struggled in her own home but after social services were unable to help with the specialist care she needed we
managed to find this home with BSL and dementia carers. From the first moment we stepped in, you could feel the warmth and genuine care for the residents. The home is immaculate providing wonderful facilities, there's always activities, day outs and fun crafts and games going on and your encouraged as family and friends to join in. Mum has settled in so well, she is enjoying life and having fun and this gives us as family peace of mind knowing that she is cared and loved for.
Reply from Phoebe Booth, Media and Community Relations Manager at Heanor Park Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. It truly means a lot to the whole team at Heanor Park.
We are so pleased that you felt the warmth of the home from your very first visit. Supporting your mum in a way that meets both her communication needs and her dementia care is incredibly important to us, and it is wonderful to hear that she has settled in so well and is enjoying life with us.
It is especially lovely to hear how much the activities and opportunities to join in as a family mean to you. Creating a place where residents feel happy, valued and engaged, and where families feel welcomed and reassured, is exactly what we strive for every day.
Thank you again for your kind words and for trusting us with your mum's care. It is a privilege to support her and your family.

For the last few years my Sister has been a Resident of the King William, and due to medical reasons has had to move to a Nursing Home to provide her with the care and support that she now needs. Words are a somewhat feeble medium to articulate the praise and gratitude that I extend to all of the staff
there. Kind, thoughtful, considerate, friendly and exuding empathy in spades. This was not just with my Sister but with the family also. I truly cannot thank the team there enough for how wonderfully they cared for my Sister, and kept me informed of any issues when they arose. I will never forget their professionalism and care - they are a credit to the Care sector. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart - you will never be forgotten.

What was probably the worst couple of weeks of my life was turned into the most precious days by the caring staff at the King William. Mum was taken into the King William with the understanding she would be there for a number of years or until she was rehabilitated to manage at home , but suddenly became
breathless and was on end of life care .It was and still is hard to believe how quickly things happened .But the staff at the King William were nothing short of incredible with the level of care , respect and turned what was a terrible situation into memories we as a family will never forgot .They not only looked after mum in her final days but also after us as a family struggling to keep it together .we are so grateful and would never hesitate to recommend them to others thinking of placing their loved one their .
Thank you Rachel and all the lovely staff we will never forget you all
Sue.
Reply from Phoebe Booth, Media and Community Relations Manager at King William Residential HomeThank you so much, Sue, for taking the time to share such a deeply moving review.
We are truly sorry for your loss, and our thoughts remain with you and your family. Although your mum's time with us was far shorter than anyone had expected, it was an honour to care for her and to support you all during such an incredibly difficult period.
Your kind words about the care, respect, and compassion shown by the team at King William will mean more to them than you can imagine. Supporting not only residents but also their families during end of life care is something the team take very seriously, and to know that they were able to bring comfort and create precious memories during such a painful time is incredibly special.
Thank you for your trust, your recommendation, and for remembering the team so fondly. Your message will be shared with everyone at King William and will stay with them for a long time.

I want to thank ALL the staff at Valley Lodge for caring for my mum in such a kind and considerate manner.
Mum went into respite care, but decided to stay herself, as she felt that her nursing needs were getting greater.
She has been at Valley Lodge since early August 2025 and we cannot thank the
staff enough, who work tirelessly to provide a professional, caring approach to their duties. From a family point of view nothing has been too much trouble, whatever it takes to make mum comfortable, whether its to do with her personal care or what she would like to eat and drink, the staff have a 'can do attitude' often with good humour making us feel very welcome to come and go as we need to be with our mum.
I have recommended and sung the praises of Valley Lodge to my friends, who have been concerned about continuing care for their loved ones.
Reply from Phoebe Booth, Media and Community Relations Manager at Valley Lodge Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a kind and thoughtful review. It truly means a great deal to the whole team at Valley Lodge.
We are delighted to hear that your mum chose to stay with us after her respite stay and that she feels safe and well supported as her nursing needs have changed. The team work hard to create a warm, welcoming environment where every resident feels comfortable and cared for, so it is lovely to hear that this has been your family's experience.
Your comments about the team's attitude, humour and willingness to help really do lift everyone's spirits. Thank you as well for recommending Valley Lodge to others. Your support means more than you know.
If there is ever anything you or your mum need, please don't hesitate to let us know. We are always here to help.

Mum was made welcome from the moment she arrived at Codnor Park. The staff have been wonderful and every time I visited I was made to feel part of a large family. Unfortunately, mum's failing health meant her stay was only a few weeks and in her final days the team were so attentive to mum as well as
her family. After her passing she was treated with the utmost dignity and I can highly recommend the home as a safe place to care for loved ones. Thanks to everyone at Codnor Park for your kindness and compassion.
