Smalley Hall Residential Home

When visiting the home is always clean and smells clean. The staff can't do enough and I can see my grandad is very happy here. Always all a friendly/polite greeting off management who also are very helpful. Couldn't wish for a better place for my grandad to live.

Since my father-in-law has been at Smalley Hall, we have found the staff very friendly and professional. A lovely clean home. And looks after him very well.

This was the first time I had visited my friend in her new home so of course i was eager to see her happy and settled . As a carer myself I can tell when care is genuine and natural and that is what I felt In Smalley Care home. The staff I saw were attentive and kind and having had a bit of time with the activities coordinator I can see that there is a good variety of things going on including trips out . There was also nice touches like a personal photo board outside residents room which gave a snapshot of their life and interests. I came away feeling glad that my friend has found a place that sees value in people and in their individuality. Thank you everyone

I have found the staff very friendly and cheerful. The home is very welcoming like a proper home.

From the first day, we visited Smalley Hall and we were so impressed with the homely feel and friendly staff. Our first impressions have proved to be correct, my mother-in-law is well cared for and happy in this place. Without exception the staff are wonderful.

My dad was taken into the home on the 24th of June and settled in well, unfortunately fell, but the staff were fantastic with him. He was in hospital for a few days but returned to the home and is getting used to his new life with the help of the caring staff.

The carers were very friendly and helpful. The sitting areas were very comfortable. The banging doors were hard to get used to as they were so loud. The food was very good.

Mum was made very welcome and seemed settled whilst with you, which was a great relief. I was contacted once re a medical query, which was a good thing. I was concerned whether Mum would cope with the heavy fire doors but noticed when I picked her up she had it 'sorted'. The food must be good for Mum to give it a great review - she's very fussy!

Staff turnover high - more staff required to enable them to spend time with residents and encourage them to join in activities. Mum hasn't seen an external outside activity since March 2023 - Chatsworth. Hopefully dead plants in pots in garden will be replaced this spring/summer - activity for residents?

My mum is in full-time residential care at Smalley Hall and I couldn't be happier with the care provided. The staff are amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food always smells delicious and there is always regular entertainment and activities. My mum has settled in really well and is really happy. Also, the cleanliness of the home is excellent.

Friendly and helpful staff, a good atmosphere especially during activities. Grandma seems much happier since arriving at the home.

She loved living here but had concerns about the new food provided. Does not like it all.

As a family, we are extremely satisfied with the care that Mum is given. She is treated with respect and dignity by all staff, and we are happy with the treatment she has received since she moved here earlier this year.

Excellent food and a good stay.

Smalley Hall has provided exemplary care for my aunt. The staff are unfailingly helpful and understanding. I fear the issues that might arise from pressures on staffing and from replacing key staff. The Hall is brilliant because of its staff and their strong empathy for residents.

My mother has been a resident at Smalley Hall for four years. She is deaf and has vascular dementia...97 years of age. She is very well looked after and treated with respect. I cannot praise the management and staff enough. If I have any questions or queries, they are answered with respect. If there are any concerns about my mum, they contact me and put me in the picture. A big thank you to all the team at Smalley Hall.

My mum has been a resident at Smalley Hall for almost a year, and she has received exceptional care. Excellent staff, very caring and responsive to her needs. There is a daily activities programme which is fantastic and has helped to keep Mum alert and interested. Homecooked food and a sense of a caring 'family ' atmosphere only add to the wonderful care and attention to detail at Smalley. First-class home. Many thanks for all your care and enthusiasm through these difficult times.

My mother spent the last three months of her life in Smalley Hall. Because of COVID restrictions, I was only able to keep in touch by phone, and they were always happy to speak with me and bring Mum to the phone. A few days before she passed away, I was able to visit her, and I was so impressed by the cleanliness of the home and the kindness of the staff.

Whenever I had contact with my mum, she always talked to me about how safe and happy she is at Smalley Hall. My mum laughs and tells me about all the things taking place each day that make her smile. For the rest of the family, we can all carry on with our lives, knowing that our mum is happy, safe and well cared for.
