King William Residential Home is bursting with character, having once been a public house. Now transformed into a 28 bed residential home, it benefits from some truly unique and individual bedrooms. A number of residents have pets and your pets will always be considered. The standard of the bedroom accommodation means that you will have to go a long way to find better.

There are fantastic communal facilities with a large comfortable lounge where residents socialise and regular entertainment is staged. There is a further, newly decorated garden lounge with access to a lovely spacious garden, with raised beds for those who like to potter. There is also a fully equipped craft room to pursue all kinds of hobbies from arts and crafts, to painting and model making. This home is very active with regular trips to the shops and local attractions, live entertainment, access to centralised facilities and exercise classes, there is a whole lot to keep you busy at King William.

An onsite hairdressing salon means you will be looking your best and with regular visits from a chiropodist, dentist, physiotherapist and GP when required, you can feel very well looked after indeed. Staff are well trained and committed, they go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need.

During what was always destined to be a difficult, transitional period for my Mum, everyone at the King William has done their utmost to make her feel welcome and displayed a high degree of empathy with her.
All of my initial questions and concerns have been addressed immediately and I have no doubt
that should my Mum's stay at the King William change from one of respite, to a more permanent arrangement, she will be in extremely safe hands.

Since we voiced our concerns to the new management, these have now been addressed and we feel happy that our family members needs are being met.
The new activities coordinator is working hard to ensure that the residents have fun and are stimulated.

My dad seems to be settling in well. We feel confident that he's being well cared for. Most of all we have peace of mind that he's safe and is getting the specialist care and attention that he needs with his vascular dementia/Alzheimer's and other medical issues. There's always plenty of staff on. They're
all very friendly and helpful. Dads room is fantastic and the place is well kept.

Mum had a series of medical issues starting in Summer of 2024, after 3 hospital stays and 2 rehabilitation stays, she was not able to return home and elected for a short term residency at King William from November 2024. She soon settled in and had a really enjoyable Christmastime. Unfortunately early
in January 2025 she had a 4th hospital stay, knowingly electing to return to King William to spend her last days there, passing away a week later.


Throughout her initial stay the staff were able to encourage her to get involved in several activities and provided some wonderful memories in a short space of time. Her last days were dignified due to the level of care and attention that the staff and District Nurses jointly delivered. During that period my siblings and I were kept well informed and could not have asked for more support.

My mum has received exceptional care since moving to live at King William Residential Home back in 2022, and it has brought me so much peace of mind to see her so well cared for. The staff go above and beyond to make her feel safe, comfortable, and valued - not just for her physical needs, but emotionally
and personally as well. The fact that they're helping her stay connected to her family and friends whilst ensuring she feels part of the King William family is truly special. The activities provided by the team are so varied, and there is always something to do: dancing, flower arranging, cooking, swimming, local farm visits, music, bingo, visiting performers/animals, spa treatments, an onsite salon... the list goes on and on! Mum really enjoys the meals too - it seems every meal is one of her favourites! The care staff always keep me informed and updated on my mum's health and well-being. It is incredibly reassuring for me to see how well she's being looked after! Thank you King William!

The King William residence is a fabulous building, which has been transformed into a homely, cosy, fully equipped residential home. As a family we were drawn to its 'home from home' atmosphere.
All the staff are extremely caring and professional towards our mother, also welcoming and approachable towards
our family. Any queries that we may have are quickly addressed, which is comforting.
The activities provided for residents are well organised and varied with trips out.

We are happy with our mother's care, but at times could do better. I think our mother has fallen around twelve times and on many occasions damaged herself badly. Our mother doesn't take up a lot of time at the care home, doesn't eat much and isn't any trouble. We are happy with most of the staff but

When my mum went into King William's care home from hospital, she was in a very poor way. I wasn't expecting her to live long. Since she's been in KW, she has made huge progress in every way. This is down to the exemplary care and attention she receives from the staff there. Nothing is too much trouble.
She tells me she feels 'safe' and this is because she knows that someone is looking after her, night and day. The home has a genuine family feel and the staff have made it their concern to know everything they can about my mum - her history, her family, her likes and dislikes, her hobbies and interests. They are even arranging for her to visit her church with support which is more than I could have wished for.
I would certainly recommend this home to anyone looking for a placement in adult care for a loved one. It's a huge step to take for all involved, but King William has made this transition as easy as it could be. I know my mum is safe and she knows it too.

My mum came for three weeks respite care in 2023, which she enjoyed so much so decided to move to King William Residential Home permanently.
She said the food was delicious and all the staff were kind, caring and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. She enjoyed the activities that she was able
to take part in too and was looking forward to being able to spend some time in the lovely garden in the summer.
Unfortunately, Mum became ill and after a stay in hospital she never fully recovered and sadly passed away in March 2024 but I know she enjoyed her time there and knew she was safe and well cared for, which was a weight off our minds.
Would definitely recommend.

Visiting a short-term guest. Arrived to see a lady doing a quiz. Had a nice time helping answer questions. The staff all seemed really nice to residents and the place smelt clean. I've left the ratings that I didn't witness.

Since moving our relative to King William early this year, he is already unrecognisable to the man he had become. He has come alive! The staff are absolutely fantastic! They provide so many activities and trips for residents and clearly love what they do. So much care and nothing is too much trouble.

The management and the care staff at the home treated Mum like one of their own. They are an asset to your company. Not only did they treat Mum with so much love but they also treated us with the same love and respect. I feel that management is like family now.
Even right from the meeting at the hospital
two members of staff straight away made my mum smile again.
Mum arrived on her first day before we got there, when I entered the room she had the biggest smile and looked so happy.

Mum was very reluctant to go into a care home at first, but she soon settled in. Staff are lovely, warm, friendly and encourage Mum to remain as independent as possible. She really enjoys the food, activities and the companionship of both staff and residents. We are always made welcome when we visit
and kept up to date with Mum's healthcare etc. The building is kept clean and in good order and is always lovely and warm too.

On arrival, I was met with a lovely warm welcome and smiles. There was such a homely atmosphere there and it made me feel secure. For the first time ever my mum needed respite care for a few weeks, it was all new to us and we didn't know what to expect, any doubts we had were quickly dispelled, the King William home was absolutely brilliant with her, with lovely staff and a great environment, the activities, good food and friendly
staff worked wonders with her, Mum loved it, you could see her improve every day, the fun the residents have with the staff is great and the activities with fun are a joy to behold.
We cannot think of any negative points. When a loved one goes into care it affects the whole family, we were so relieved to witness first-hand that Mum was enjoying her stay, it put all our minds at ease and that is so important.
We have no hesitation in recommending the King William residential home in Ripley, Derbyshire.
Finally, thank you to all the staff for making this home so good, we all miss you.

The respite care that was given was exceptional. She was so well looked after and she really settled in and made friends. The carers are angels and work so hard. They are kind and patient and go out of their way to make things nice and cheerful. The food is of a high standard, the home is spotlessly

My wife attends daycare on a Tuesday each week, this is her second attendance. I feel very happy and confident when leaving her there because I feel and gave seen how she is looked after by staff, it's a lovely clean residence with helpful people. Nice food and warm atmosphere. Glad I have taken her
there to also gives me a rest and she seems happy, which makes me happy as well.

The staff are really friendly and supportive. I cannot believe that my husband settled her so quickly. If he is happy then I am happy and more settled in my mind. The home is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent. I cannot praise the activities team enough as they provide a wide selection of activities,
entertainment and outings to keep the residents engaged and happy. The management is efficient and always helpful. Well done to all the team.

Hi, I’m Phoebe! I absolutely love having a good chat and getting to know the families and individuals that give us a call. My goal is to make the process of finding the right home as easy and reassuring as possible.


This is something close to my heart — I’ve had two of my own family members stay within our group, so I truly understand how important it is to feel confident and comfortable in your choice.
