The Firs Care Home with Nursing

From the moment I first came through the door I knew this was the best home I'd looked at for my dear friend when her declining condition forced a move into care. All the staff are so friendly, yet efficient, treating all the residents equally with dignity & the utmost respect. My friend's growing needs are addressed with love & care. She has no close relative and has come to regard this as home, her carers as friends & family. They go out of their way to create that atmosphere. They have my respect & gratitude Thank you

My wife went into The Firs in November 2025 after battling dementia since 2019. I fought hard to keep her at home but her going into The Firs was my best decision, my wife is treated so well by all the staff the care they give her is beyond my expectations. When I visit im always greeted with a smile and a kind word.

Outstanding Care has been given to my Mum. Every member of staff is friendly with a caring, compassionate nature. All staff go above & beyond to make sure my mum is comfortable, I could not wish for a better nursing home for my mum. You should all be proud of yourselves as you are all amazing!! Super team! Mum moved to the Firs a year ago from another care home, as she then needed nursing care for her needs. All the staff are all very polite, helpful, caring and always had a smile for you. Everywhere was very clean and mums room was always spotless, bed made and the towel fan on the bed was a lovely touch, no wonder she thought she was in a hotel. The care was first class making sure her insulin and medication were always on time, making sure she was happy and safe. Mum was encouraged to join in with the activities everyday and go out on trips, she even won a trophy for bowling. Mum carried on having her hair done weekly which has always been her routine, toiletries supplied and this was all in with the price. We were always kept informed at every step of the way as mum had very complex needs. She was treated with respect and dignity all the time especially though at her end of life, making sure she left the home looking peaceful and as lovely as she always did. Five star home

We moved Mum from a home where she was not encouraged to participate and her needs were not met, in short, she was left in bed all day, to sleep, eat , be cleaned etc. we cannot believe the difference in the Firs!! So clean, beautifully decorated, made to feel more homely. Staff are amazing and very attentive to Mum's needs , encouraging her to sit (in special chair) to take part in activities and to join in conversation. I am very pleased with the professionalism of all staff, combined with caring attitude. The activities and trips(which are daily) are amazing and planned to encourage all residents to take part and enjoy. I feel guilty that Mum was not moved sooner! All extras, weekly hairdresser, toiletries, manicure, trips and activities are included in the weekly price, which was not the case in her previous home

Now we have complete peace of mind knowing my dad is happy, safe, respected, and genuinely cared for like a king. You can clearly see that the whole of the team are passionate about giving the very best care possible. The activities, outtings, one 2 ones are just fantastically organised a real dream team, every single member of the team deserve recognition they all do incredible job, all of the team are truly appreciated by our whole of the family.

My sister in law is with you and I am very impressed with the care you give from the way you entertain the patients and care for them all. I have worked in homes and this one is one of the best.

Came to spend and evening with my friend was very enjoyable couldn't get over how happy and content he was.

We were understandably very dubious about placing Dad into nursing care, particularly because of a previous difficult experience of where involvement from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) had been required. That experience made us extremely cautious and anxious about making the right decision, however, Kelly, Sarah and the wonderful staff from The Firs have completely restored our confidence. Communication is excellent, involved in events, meetings, and any changes to his care needs. Conversations with staff are open, honest, and realistic, and they consistently demonstrate a deep level of respect and empathy for all residents. Knowing Dad has compassionate 24-hour care has been a great relief, and it's clear how much he enjoys the company of the many staff members who look after him, he has built so many friendships and finally has a smile on his face. The staff are family to us, and the love they show is everything a human being so deserves. Forever grateful and blessed.

I would highly recommend to family and friends always made feel welcome feels very homely. Overall very pleased with everything listed below excellent my dad is happy to be here and that makes us happy to be here and that makes us happy keep up the good work.

It's a care home that you feel welcome when you're there. If there are any issues when you're there they take it somewhere private so it doesn't upset others. The entertainment is unbelievable (instead of care homes where residents just eat and sleep). Can go home after a visit knowing our loved ones are cared for x

My husband moved from another care home to this establishment following concerns there. We were recommend The Firs and found the recommendation to be correct! From the staff to accommodation and care it has been exceptional. Staff have been so accommodating to my husbands care needs. My husband has gone from hell to heaven.

We definately chose the perfect place for our dad. The whole team at The Firs are amazing. The home is very clean and homely. The management team always keep us informed of any changes.

A great experience. I was nervous about going into a nursing home for respite, but from the moment I go to The First I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The staff are excellent, my room was cosy and the food was really good. I enjoyed my full English every morning. I was treated like a king and would definitely come back to The Firs for a stay.

Absolutelty excellent service from the whole staff at The Firs! I was apprehensive about my husband going in for respite, but from the assessment at home to him being discharged, we couldn't have been put more at ease or welcomed. My husband was happy and content from the moment he arrived. The staff also made sure we made wonderful memories to cherish. From making Valentine's Day memorable to getting my husband and I out for a meal, which we hadn't done for 2 years. Simply amazing. Definitely go back when respite needed again.

Absolutely all the staff are truly amazing in their level of care and compassion given to all residents. They go out of their way to make residents and their families feel a part of a big happy family.
