Maintenance Manager

Horton Cross Nursing Home is seeking an experienced, proactive and organised Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function within our welcoming nursing home.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and understands the importance of providing a safe, comfortable and well-maintained environment for residents, visitors and staff.

Working closely with the Home Manager and senior leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all maintenance operations across the home, ensuring the building, grounds and equipment remain safe, compliant and in excellent condition.

The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with participation in a shared out-of-hours emergency on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the maintenance function across the home.

• Supervise, support and allocate work to the Maintenance Assistant.

• Carry out routine inspections of the building, grounds and equipment, proactively identifying maintenance requirements before they become significant issues.

• Plan and undertake maintenance and repair work where appropriate.

• Arrange servicing and planned preventative maintenance in line with statutory requirements.

• Obtain quotations for repair works and improvement projects, ensuring value for money.

• Manage external contractors from quotation through to completion, ensuring work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Health & Safety legislation and Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements.

• Support the Home Manager during inspections and audits by maintaining evidence of compliance.

• Monitor the condition of the home and recommend improvements that enhance the environment for residents.

• Participate in the shared emergency on-call rota for urgent maintenance issues.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Have at least one year's maintenance experience, ideally within a care home, healthcare or similar regulated environment.

• Be experienced in carrying out a wide range of general building repairs and maintenance.

• Have previous experience supervising or managing staff, or demonstrate the ability to lead a small team.

• Possess a good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and building compliance requirements.

• Be proactive, organised and able to prioritise competing demands.

• Have experience obtaining quotations and coordinating external contractors.

• Be confident keeping accurate maintenance and compliance records.

• Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• Be committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for elderly residents.

• Hold a full UK driving licence
