Horton Cross Nursing Home is looking for a friendly and motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated team. Working under the direction of our Maintenance Manager, you will help ensure our home provides a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors and staff.
About the Role
This is a varied, hands-on position where no two days are the same. You will assist with the day-to-day upkeep of the home, carrying out general maintenance tasks, supporting compliance activities and helping to maintain our beautiful grounds.
The role is 24 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday, with participation in a shared out-of-hours emergency on-call rota alongside other senior managers.
Main Duties

Carry out general repairs and routine maintenance throughout the home.

Assist with internal decorating, including painting and making good surfaces.

Maintain the home's gardens and grounds, including lawn mowing, weeding and keeping outdoor areas tidy and safe.

Support the Maintenance Manager with planned preventative maintenance.

Assist with health and safety and environmental compliance audits.

Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.

Help ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with relevant regulations.

Liaise professionally with contractors when required.

Respond to emergency maintenance issues as part of the shared on-call rota.
About You
We're looking for someone who:

Has practical maintenance or handyman experience.

Can turn their hand to a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks.

Takes pride in maintaining high standards.

Is organised, dependable and able to work independently.

Has a good understanding of health and safety.

Enjoys working as part of a supportive team.

Is courteous and respectful when working around elderly residents.

Holds a full UK driving licence
