Job Summary

Activities 37.5 hours per week


· To help service users socialise within the home and provide a variety of activities that cater for all tastes.

· To plan and initiate monthly rolling / individual programmes and encourage service users to maintain pre-existing hobbies.

· To encourage staff members, relatives and friends to participate in the home’s activity programme.

· To accompany service users, where possible, to offsite activities (such activities may take place outside of normal working hours).

· To help create an atmosphere that suits individual service users within the home.

· To assist with fund raising and budgeting for entertainments, materials and outings.

· To maintain full and accurate records of daily activities using appropriate documentation and assist the named nurse to review and update service users’ care files.


Communication

· To discuss the aims and objectives of recreation therapy with other staff members.

· To report any changes in service users’ physical or emotional condition to the home Manager or person in charge.

· To provide comfort and company on a one to one basis for service users who are unable to undertake any form of activity.

· To arrange / participate in staff and client meetings as and when required.


Marketing


· To actively market the home and promote a positive personal / professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the home at all times.

Training and Development:

· To attend mandatory training days / courses, on or off site, as and when required.

· To maintain professional knowledge and competence.


General Duties

· To ensure confidentiality at all times.

· To notify the home Manager or person in charge as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.

· To promote and ensure the good reputation of the home and the Crown Care Group.

· To ensure security of the home is maintained at all times.

· To ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.

· To carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.


Qualifications


· Remedial / occupational therapy (desirable)

· To demonstrate the proven ability to develop and organise a range of events / activities to suit the needs of all service users.

· To accurately follow instructions in a timely manner.

· To ideally have had experience within the care industry (or similar).

· To be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

· To be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to quickly identify and resolve problems.

· To have the ability to work as part of a team.

· To have a can do attitude.

· To possess a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance

· To be focused on providing a consistently high standard of customer service.

· To be highly motivated to deliver the highest standards of health and social care.

· To demonstrate the ability to work under pressure.

· To demonstrate a flexible attitude towards working hours.
