Job Summary
To ensure the highest standards of care and services is delivered to residents, relatives and visitors in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. Ensure all residents in our care receive person-centred care in line with their individual needs, and this is delivered with empathy and thorough attention to detail.
Main Duties and Key Accountabilities

Ensure the highest standard of care and attention is given to our residents, providing residents with a personalised, holistic approach to their care, respecting their choices, wishes and preferences.

Support the Senior on duty to deliver designated duties.
-
Recognise the changing needs, wishes and preferences of residents, raising these with colleagues and the Senior in charge, and making any relevant changes to the care plan, by supporting the well-being of residents through observation, empathy and responding to their needs.

Maintain confidentiality of information regarding residents, visitors and staff.

Provide a role model of professional behaviour to all staff and understand, engage with, promote and embody the ethos of Resthaven.

Support the Senior in the day-to-day running of the floor.
Quality and resident Care

Identify and provide all aspects of care, reviewing as required
-
Use the care planning system to ensure a personalised plan of care is implemented for all residents, taking into account needs, wishes and preferences.
-
Ensure accurate records are made at all times, and ensure records are entered daily on the relevant charts and care plans.
-
Adhere to infection control procedures, and raise concerns if standards of cleanliness in rooms are not to standard; always ensure rooms are clean and presentable.

Act as a keyworker for a designated number of residents within the Home.

Encourage and support residents' participation in activities of interest to them.
-
Ensure residents are made aware of planned activities for the day, assisting residents to lead fulfilled lives through activity and daily choice.

Accurately record nutritional and fluid intake.

Ensure the privacy and dignity of the individual is maintained at all times.

Report back to the senior on duty information on condition, behaviour, activity and responses of individuals.

Recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable adults and report any problems or raise concerns to the appropriate person.

Assist in the implementation of appropriate action to meet specific physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of individuals.

Develop understanding of caring for individuals with particular conditions, for example dementia, mental health, and chronic diseases.
Health & Safety
-
Be aware of the Health & Safety policy at work act, and Resthaven’s Health & Safety policy.

In order to protect the safety of service users, staff and visitors, all employees are responsible for :-

Completing an accident/incident form for all accident/incidents or near misses.
-
Report all defects.
-
Report all complaints to the Manager/Deputy Manager
-
Attend mandatory training
-
Complete adverse incident forms and report these to the home manager/deputy home manager.
-
To work with the property and maintenance manager/home manager to ensure a safe working environment in order to safeguard the welfare and safety of all service users, visitors and staff. Report all hazards to the property manager.

To be aware of Resthaven’s emergency procedures

To be responsible for your own Health & Safety

To promote all policies and procedures including appropriate dress code in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
Other duties
-
Undertake such other duties, training and or/hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general responsibility of the job.

To undertake Health & Safety duties with the post or as detailed in Resthaven’s Health & Safety policy.

To attend statutory training and staff meetings.

To maintain a smart tidy appearance adhering to Resthaven’s uniform policy, using personal protective equipment and uniform provided.
