Horton Cross Nursing Home is looking for a Temporary Activities Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team.

This is an important role within our Activities team, supporting the Activities Lead and our residents to enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful lifestyle. You will help to plan and deliver a varied programme of activities that reflects the individual interests, abilities, needs and wishes of our residents.

The position is offered on a temporary basis to cover the long-term absence of our permanent Activities Assistant. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, caring and creative, with a genuine interest in enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of older people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Get to know our residents and understand their individual interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes, abilities and needs.
  • Assist with planning and delivering a varied programme of activities for residents.
  • Provide both group and one-to-one activities, adapting activities to suit individual abilities and preferences.
  • Encourage residents to participate and promote social interaction, mental stimulation and physical wellbeing.
  • Liaise with residents, relatives, friends and colleagues to help ensure activities are meaningful and person-centred.
  • Assist with organising themed events, celebrations and fundraising activities.
  • Make use of resources within the Home and the wider local community.
  • Maintain appropriate records of resident participation, assessments and activity evaluations.
  • Regularly review activities and participation levels with the Activities Lead and Management.
  • Attend staff meetings and residents' meetings as required.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to support the effective running of the Nursing Home.
  • Always promote and safeguard the welfare, dignity and wellbeing of our residents.

    Experience

Previous experience in a similar activities role would be an advantage, particularly within a care home, nursing home or healthcare environment, although we will consider applicants who can demonstrate the right skills, attitude and enthusiasm.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be preferred due to our rural location.

    What We Offer

  • 24 hours per week across 3 days
  • Alternate weekend working
  • Temporary position providing cover for a long-term absence
  • Competitive salary
  • Company pension scheme
  • On-site parking
  • Supportive and friendly working environment
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of our residents
