We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full & Part time Senior Care Assistant 28 hours hours a week to join our team.

In this role, you will provide essential support to residents in a care home setting, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. You will play a key role in implementing care plans and supervising junior staff, while fostering a warm and supportive environment for our senior residents.

  • MUST have NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or willing to work towards
  • Flexible and able to work shifts which include weekends
  • Genuine interest in and experience of working with service users in a residential care setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Medication Trained
  • Qualification in the Safe Handling of Medicines / Experience

What will your role look like?

  • Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained in accordance with person-centred Care Plans, Risk Assessments
  • Ensure service users' care needs, e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual, are met. Providing supervision and attention when needed
  • Review Care Plans
  • Report on the well-being of Service Users and liaise with GPS, Healthcare Professionals and Managers
  • Ensure service users' privacy, respect and dignity are maintained at all times
  • Dispense medication, and ensure correct recording of all relevant information relating to medication (after satisfactory completion of the Safe Handling of Medicines course).
  • Ensure all holistic assessments are carried out when Service Users are admitted to the Abacus Care Home.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.

Job Overview

  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents' progress and any changes in their health status.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and other team members to ensure high-quality care.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the care home environment.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to senior care.
  • Proficient IT skills for maintaining records and documentation accurately.
