Required:
- 1st or 2nd Level RGN
- Previous experience of working in a Nursing home environment 1 – 2 years.
- Clinical competence in role
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands, and prioritise tasks
- Team player
- Genuine interest in working with the relevant Client group
- Ability to work within a legislative framework
- Satisfactory DBS check

JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure the highest standard of care is provided to all residents in a most professional manner. In addition to providing direct care the nurse is to provide effective supervision of all other employees in the multi-disciplinary group. The nurse is to fulfil the role of shift leader as directed on the duty rota.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Care:
- Taking responsibility for the nursing and personal care of residents.
- Reporting resident’s ill-health and making requests for GP and other visiting professionals visits when necessary.
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised care, seeking medical or other interventions as required.
- Participating in the evaluation and review of policies and procedures when directed.
- Ensuring the collection and dispatch of specimens.
- Carrying out all nursing procedures efficiently and effectively.
- Administering prescribed medicines and maintaining appropriate records in accordance with Company policies and procedures and, NMC codes of practice.
- Applying maximum integrity in all dealings with residents’ affairs and property, avoiding abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with Clients.
- Maintaining accurate records ensuring that each resident has a complete individualised Care Plan which is to be reviewed on a monthly basis or, more frequently when required.
Communication:
- Participating in shift ‘handover’ to enable full knowledge of each resident’s condition.
- Ensuring that a comprehensive report is provided to nursing and care staff at the end of each shift.
- Ensuring the timely update of care staff throughout each shift in response to changing circumstances.
- Ensuring accurate records are maintained of individual’s needs, outcomes and how to achieve outcomes are comprehensive, completed as required timescales to include associated risk assessments on the nourish system.
- Providing a comprehensive report to the Deputy Manager/Manager of any incident and of significant change in the status of any resident.
- Supervising visits and liaising with visiting professionals to establish and maintain good relationships.
- Informing the Cook of resident’s dietary requirements, supervising the serving of meals and ensuring that the special dietary needs of individuals are met.
- Establishing and maintaining clear communication with residents, relatives and the staff team.
- Participating in staff, resident and relative meetings as directed.
Budgetary / Financial Control:
- Awareness of the need to manage and maintain budgets.
- Ensuring that all commodities are sensibly conserved by all employees; e.g. monitor the usage of incontinence aids, wipes, dressings, electricity etc.
Human Resources (HR):
- Participating in Staff Induction & Training programmes when directed.
Marketing:
- Actively marketing the Home and promoting a positive personal professional profile within the local community and ensuring the good reputation of the Home at all times.
- Ensuring the Home is attractively presented and odour free at all times in line with the Company’s attention to detail philosophy.
- Ensuring that all rooms are suitably presented for viewing at all times.
Arranging and participating in obtaining new clients.
