The Activity Co?ordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for care home residents by delivering engaging, meaningful, and stimulating activities tailored to their interests and abilities. As stated in the job description, the role “supports residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being, fostering a sense of belonging, independence, and joy.”
You will help create a warm, inclusive environment where residents feel valued, connected, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate a varied programme of activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs.
- Encourage participation and engagement to support residents’ well?being and social interaction.
- Organise group and one?to?one activities, including arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, outings, and themed events.
- Liaise with residents, families, and care staff to ensure activities are meaningful and enjoyable.
- Promote independence and inclusion, adapting activities to suit individual abilities.
- Build relationships with community groups, entertainers, and volunteers to enhance the activity programme.
- Maintain accurate records and evaluate the effectiveness of activities.
- Support fundraising and special events within the home.
Qualifications and Skills
- A warm, enthusiastic, and compassionate personality with excellent communication skills.
- Experience in activity planning within a care home, community setting, or similar role.
- Ability to motivate and engage residents with sensitivity and creativity.
- Strong organisational and time?management skills.
- Knowledge of dementia care and experience working with older adults is desirable.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
