About Pinehurst Care Home
Pinehurst Care Home is a friendly, independent 21-bed residential care home in Ilfracombe, supporting people aged 65 and over.
We have a team of around 24 staff who work together to provide a safe, comfortable and caring home for our residents.
Our residents have a range of individual care needs, and some of our residents live with dementia. We focus on providing person-centred care, treating each resident as an individual and maintaining their dignity, privacy and independence wherever possible.
Because we are a smaller home, our staff get to know our residents well. We believe this helps create a more personal and homely environment for everyone.
About the Senior Night Care Assistant Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Senior Night Care Assistant to join our night team.
This is a hands-on senior care role where you will continue to provide care while also taking responsibility for the smooth running of the night shift.
You will support the care team, make sure residents are safe and comfortable throughout the night, complete care records accurately and deal appropriately with any concerns or changes in residents' needs.
You will also act as the shift lead, supporting colleagues and making sure the night shift runs safely and effectively.
The successful person will be someone who can take responsibility, support colleagues and remain calm and professional when working independently at night.
What You Will Be Doing
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out regular welfare checks and ensuring residents are safe and comfortable throughout the night.
- Providing personal care, including continence care and pad checks, while maintaining residents' dignity and privacy.
- Administering medication safely and accurately in accordance with residents' care plans and procedures.
- Using PCS electronic care records to record care provided, observations and any changes in residents' needs.
- Acting as shift lead, supporting and directing the night team and dealing appropriately with any concerns or incidents.
- Completing appropriate cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable home.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in working in a care environment.
- Experienced in caring for older people.
- Confident taking responsibility and supporting or leading a team.
- Reliable and able to work independently during the night.
- Caring, patient and respectful towards residents.
- Confident communicating with colleagues and senior staff.
- Comfortable using electronic care records.
- Able to administer medication or willing to undertake the necessary training.
- Calm and professional when dealing with unexpected situations.
Previous senior care experience is desirable, but we will also consider an experienced Care Assistant who feels ready to take the next step into a senior role.
Experience supporting people living with dementia would be an advantage.
What Is It Like Working at Pinehurst?
At Pinehurst, we want our home to feel like a home, not simply a workplace.
We value staff who are caring, dependable, respectful and willing to support each other.
Working in a smaller residential care home means you have the opportunity to build relationships with residents and become an important part of their everyday lives.
The night team has an especially important role. While residents are sleeping, you are responsible for making sure they remain safe, comfortable and well cared for, while also ensuring the home is ready for the morning team.
If you take pride in your work and enjoy being someone that residents and colleagues can rely on, this could be the role for you.
What We Offer
- £14.00–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience and suitability.
- 12.25-hour night shifts.
- A friendly and supportive working environment.
- A senior position with genuine responsibility.
- Training and development relevant to your role.
- The opportunity to develop your leadership and senior care experience.
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference to residents' lives.
- The chance to work in a smaller, homely residential care setting.
- Full support with training and professional development.
- We support our staff to progress in their care careers and will fund NVQ qualifications where appropriate.
- Opportunities to develop your skills and progress within the care team.
Working Pattern
12.25-hour night shifts, working as part of the home's night rota.

The exact rota and number of shifts will be discussed with suitable candidates.
