Senior Nurse

SENIOR NURSE 

Full-Time | Days | 42 hours per week | 4 days per week

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Nurse to join our nursing home team and play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care to our residents.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Registered Nurse who enjoys clinical leadership and would like to develop their management and governance experience while remaining closely involved in resident care.

The Role

Working 42 hours per week over 4 days, you will:

• Work 3 long-day shifts as Nurse in Charge, providing clinical leadership and oversight of the home.
• Have 1 supernumerary day per week (7.5 hours) working alongside the Home Manager and Clinical Manager.
• Provide clinical guidance and support to nurses, senior carers and care staff.
• Monitor residents' changing needs, clinical risks, medicines, care plans and documentation.
• Ensure appropriate escalation and communication with GPs, community teams and other healthcare professionals.
• Support safeguarding, incident management, infection prevention and clinical risk management.
• Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement, care plan reviews and regulatory compliance.
• Support staff development, competency assessments and good clinical practice.
• Help the management team monitor action plans, prepare for inspections and demonstrate sustained improvements in quality of care.

The supernumerary day provides dedicated time to support clinical governance, quality assurance, audits, compliance, care planning, staff development and other management priorities. The Senior Nurse will not be counted within the staffing numbers for direct care on this day.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• A Registered Nurse with a current NMC PIN.
• Able to demonstrate at least 2 years' supervisory experience, preferably within a nursing home, care home or similar clinical setting.
• Confident in taking charge of a clinical shift.
• A strong communicator and supportive clinical leader.
• Organised, professional and able to prioritise effectively.
• Passionate about dignity, choice, independence and person-centred care.
• Confident identifying and managing clinical risks and escalating concerns appropriately.
• Committed to continuous improvement and high standards of care.
