Job Summary
Full-Time Maintenance Person - Care Home | Purley, Surrey
We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and proactive Full-Time Maintenance Person to join our dedicated team at our well-established and highly regarded nursing home in Purley, Surrey.
Our welcoming care home provides high-quality care and accommodation for up to 35 residents, and we are looking for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-presented environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
About the Role
As our Maintenance Person, you will play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep of the home, ensuring that the building, grounds, equipment, and safety systems are maintained to the highest standards. This is a varied and hands-on role requiring excellent practical skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out general repairs and routine maintenance throughout the home.
- Performing planned preventative maintenance to ensure the smooth running of the facility.
- Conducting and recording regular fire alarm, emergency lighting, and health and safety checks.
- Monitoring and recording hot and cold-water temperatures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Undertaking basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and minor electrical repairs where appropriate.
- Maintaining the home's gardens, grounds, and external areas.
- Liaising with approved contractors and overseeing their work when required.
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues promptly and ensuring timely resolution.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.
- Supporting the management team in meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and health and safety requirements.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, handyman, or building services role.
- Good all-round practical skills and the ability to carry out a variety of repair and maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- A reliable, flexible, and professional approach to work.
- Experience in a care home, healthcare, hospitality, or residential environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
