About Us

Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Woodlands in Stockport. We are CQC-regulated and B Corp certified, and we work in partnership with NHS commissioners and local universities to provide high-quality, person-centred care. We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Operative to help keep Woodlands safe, comfortable and well-maintained for the residents and staff who call it home.

The Role

As our Maintenance Operative, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and repair of the building, grounds and equipment at Woodlands. You'll carry out routine maintenance checks, respond to reported repairs, and help ensure the home meets health and safety standards — playing an important behind-the-scenes role in the comfort and wellbeing of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

•  Carry out routine repairs and general maintenance across the building, fixtures and fittings

•  Respond promptly to maintenance requests raised by care and management staff

•  Undertake planned preventative maintenance and basic servicing of equipment

•  Carry out routine health and safety checks (e.g. fire safety equipment, water systems, electrical safety) in line with home procedures

•  Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs

•  Support external contractors attending site for specialist works

•  Help maintain the home's grounds and external areas

•  Ensure tools, equipment and materials are stored and used safely

•  Respond to emergency repairs as required to maintain a safe environment for residents and staff

What We're Looking For

•  Practical, hands-on experience in a maintenance, facilities or trades role (e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general building maintenance)

•  A methodical approach with good attention to detail and health and safety awareness

•  Right to work in the UK

•  Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check

•  Good communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude

•  Experience within a care home, healthcare or similarly regulated environment is desirable.

•  Relevant trade qualifications are an advantage but not essential.

What We Offer

•  A varied, hands-on role within a supportive, values-led care home team

•  Ongoing training and development opportunities within a multi-site care group

•  Full induction

•  Potential to take up NVQ once successfully completing probation period.

•  A supportive value led team environment

•  Refer a Friend bonus – up to £200!

•  Blue Light Card Eligibility

•  Employee of the quarter - opportunity to potentially win tickets to sporting events or purchasing vouchers for amazing brands and so much more!
