About Us
Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Woodlands in Stockport. We are CQC-regulated and B Corp certified, and we work in partnership with NHS commissioners and local universities to provide high-quality, person-centred care. We're looking for reliable, compassionate Bank Healthcare Assistants to help provide high-quality care to the residents and staff who call Woodlands home, covering shifts flexibly as needed.
The Role
As a Bank Healthcare Assistant, you'll provide personal care and support to residents at Woodlands on a flexible, as-required basis. You'll help residents with daily living activities, support their physical and emotional wellbeing, and help ensure the home meets health and safety standards — playing an important behind-the-scenes role in the comfort and wellbeing of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
• Support residents with personal care, including washing, dressing and continence care, in a dignified and person-centred way
• Assist residents with mobility, using appropriate moving and handling techniques and equipment
• Support residents at mealtimes, including assistance with eating and drinking where needed
• Monitor and report any changes in residents' health, wellbeing or behaviour to senior staff promptly
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records in line with home procedures
• Support residents to take part in social and recreational activities
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
• Promote residents' dignity, independence and choice in all aspects of their care
• Work flexibly across shifts as required, covering absence and additional demand within the home
What We're Looking For
• Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant or in a similar care setting is desirable but not essential
• A caring, compassionate and patient approach to supporting residents
• Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
• Good communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude
• Willingness to work flexibly across a range of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays, at short notice
• Care Certificate or NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care is an advantage but not essential.
What We Offer
• A varied, hands-on role within a supportive, values-led care home team
• Ongoing training and development opportunities within a multi-site care group
• Full induction
• Potential to take up NVQ once successfully completing the probation period
• A supportive value-led team environment
• Refer a Friend bonus – up to £200!
• Blue Light Card Eligibility
• Employee of the quarter - opportunity to potentially win tickets to sporting events or purchase vouchers for amazing brands and so much more!
