About Us
Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Hayes Cottage in Hayes. We are CQC-regulated and B Corp certified, and we work in partnership with NHS commissioners and local universities to provide high-quality, person-centred care. We're looking for a reliable, experienced Maintenance Lead to help keep Hayes Cottage safe, comfortable and well-maintained for the residents and staff who call it home.
The Role
As our Maintenance Lead, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, repair and safety of the building, grounds and equipment at Hayes Cottage. You'll act as the first point of contact for maintenance matters, including on-call emergency cover, and help ensure the home meets health and safety standards — playing an important behind-the-scenes role in the comfort and wellbeing of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out general repairs and maintenance throughout the care home
• Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and decorating tasks
• Carry out regular checks and report any faults or safety concerns
• Maintain gardens and external areas as required
• Ensure the home is kept safe, clean and well maintained
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
• Act as the maintenance lead and be available on-call for emergencies when required
• Liaise with contractors and external services when specialist repairs are needed
• Maintain appropriate records of maintenance work and repairs
• Work in accordance with health and safety and care home requirements
What We're Looking For
• Previous maintenance experience is essential
• Full UK driving licence and ability to drive is essential
• Good practical and problem-solving skills
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently
• Flexible and willing to be on-call for maintenance emergencies when required
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements
• Previous experience in a care home or similar environment is desirable.
• Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
