The care I receive is second to none. All the staff are very kind and caring, and the nursing care is excellent; they go above and beyond to support me with my care needs always.
I look forward to the activities which gives me the opportunity to socialise, and our activities organiser is very engaging
and makes my day!
The quality of the food is satisfactory, but not always hot when served.
The atmosphere is a friendly one.

The care and compassion shown to my dad at the home, in my opinion, is outstanding. The nursing staff, carers, cooks & cleaners, and admin are always warm, friendly, welcoming & treat my dad with dignity, respect and affection. I have developed a good relationship with all & the kindness shown to residents
and family is really appreciated. I have even been invited to join my dad for meals during my visits, very thoughtful. It gives me, my family great comfort & reassurance that my dad is being well cared for in such a supportive environment. Thank you all for your dedication, empathy and genuine kindness.

My dad & family had the great experience with the staff at Hayes Cottsge.
From dad's first day to his last.
They kept his dignity at all times.
They made family welcome anytime day or night.
Everything was with a personal touch from speaking on the phone to the visits.
Most importantly my
dad was happy there and it was like his home from home.

Just really bad food and the staff said it will get better however it's haven't
And the carers take too long to get to the people who need the care and when staff get "punishment" it will change for a day but the go back to how it was and the staff like talking to each other instead of doing there
jobs and when you try to talk to the head nurse or the manager the staff will take the complaint on you and or your family in the care home.
And my Dad has been in the care home for a year now but when he first when into the care home the managers never introduced themselves to us.
And they inconsistently move staff around so when the people in the care home needs they're baths or showers they are left with people they don't know or don't have a bond because they were moved upstairs for no real reason and that can leave people feeling uncomfortable when having a shower or bath.
Reply from MONICA-SORINA Rasura, Home Manager at Hayes Cottage Nursing HomeThank you for sharing your feedback. I am very sorry to hear that you feel this way and want to assure you that your concerns are taken seriously. Our priority is always to provide safe, high-quality, and person-centered care.
I regularly discuss any issues or concerns directly with your mother and address these promptly with her . However, I would also welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally so that we can work together to resolve any outstanding matters. My door is always open, and you are welcome to contact me by phone or email at any time.
We value feedback from residents and families as it helps us improve the service we provide. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention. Your comments will be reviewed carefully, and we will take steps to ensure the best possible care for your loved one

When I was looking for a care home for my father, Hayes Cottage stood out from the others immediately. The staff member who showed us round was so warm and friendly that I knew it was the right place for dad. I've met many staff since then and they have all lived up to my first impression. Accepting
that a parent needs to move into residential care is incredibly difficult and having them surrounded by staff who are friendly, professional and understand what you're going through really does make that decision easier.
Dad was really quite poorly when he came to Hayes Cottage but the care he's received has helped him to improve hugely. He takes part in all the activities he's able to, and it has been lovely to see his smiling face among the photos on the noticeboard each month.
All the staff - carers, nurses, activity staff, admin and management - genuinely care. That, more than anything, is why I picked Hayes Cottage, and why I'm so grateful. Thank you!

After my dad's first 3 days at the care home, we knew it would not be for long as he was end of life, and I was allowed to stay with my dad 24 hours a day, which I know meant a lot to him and especially to me. Everybody was extremely accommodating, helpful, gracious, and polite, as I know this is not
the normal. I'm ever so grateful, as was my dad. Certain members of staff need extra credit as they really did shine. 5 in particular, thank you.

I am so happy with the care my husband has received. He's been there since December 2023 and has had nothing but the best care. Everyone looking after him as follows, I would like to thank, from my husband and myself, the carers on the first floor, nurses on the first floor, activity staff and of course
management. I can't thank them all enough for being so kind to myself and my husband. Thank you all for your caring and hard work.

From the first day, my mum was always very well cared for. She got on exceptionally well with all the staff, who always had time for her. They always made sure she was well dressed and her hair brushed. She loved to join in all the different available activities. We would always find her with a smile
on her face when we went to visit and often would laugh and joke with the staff. As a family, we felt reassured that she was being well cared for at all times. Thank you.

From start to finish everyone was so kind and helpful in getting my brother in, settled and wonderfully cared for during his year here. The staff went above and beyond continuously to make sure that not only were his physical needs attended to but kept him in such an emotionally stable place too. Right

Staff are welcoming, kind and appear caring. They encourage residents to join in activities and sessions.
Food is ok but could be better, those not in the dining room are not asked what they want and food is served plated. Desserts are awful, main meals are ok but could be better as meat is tough and
everything is covered in gravy even when it is not wanted.

After being slightly nervous about Dad being put in a home, which I would imagine most people would think that way. This home has given my father back his dignity, he is looked after 24 hours a day by a dedicated team of professionals. My family and I can't thank them enough for everything they have

My wife came first and I was so pleased with the entire home, I wanted to be with her as she was so poorly. I moved in temporarily to be with her until she sadly passed away last week. I cannot fault the care provided, friendly staff, kindness and happiness throughout. I found the simple meals so beautiful,
I enjoyed them all and the fresh fruit and the odd glass of wine were a regular treat. The activities provided were great but couldn't always be there as I was comforting my wife. I will be moving out to be with my son in sheltered accommodation next month but when the time comes and I will need a nursing home I will be coming straight back to Hayes Cottage.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.479)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.479) out of 10 for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.529 for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (150 Excellents x 5) + (56 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.529
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
