From what I have seen in the last few months my partner has been well looked after. Clean and happy they make me feel very welcome and all management and staff are very approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. Enjoyed a great party for the King's coronation. Looking forward to all the upcoming events,
fundraising and being involved in this wonderful home.

Consistently witness absolutely amazing care and dignity shown to all residents - while visiting my relative - in Hayes Cottage.

The first notice I saw up on the home walls said their room is their home. Give your full attention once you are with them - in their space.

My mum was a resident at Hayes Cottage for 5 years. She enjoyed her life there and loved all the staff and other residents. She took part in activities and enjoyed going on trips. I was able to go along too which I enjoyed and getting involved with all the fundraising. Thankfully she spent her last
days here, in her room with the staff and us being with her.

Our father was admitted to Hayes Cottage Nursing Home from hospital, and sadly passed away five days later. After two months in a busy and understaffed hospital ward, it was a relief to the family that his last days were spent in a calm and peaceful atmosphere. He was well cared for and the family were
grateful to all the staff, who were very kind and caring.
Reply from MONICA-SORINA Rasura, Home Manager at Hayes Cottage Nursing HomeThank you very much for your kind review. I am glad that the last few days at Hayes Cottage were made more comfortable for your father & your family.

Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is a truly caring place for residents. My father stayed there for just over a week at the end of his life. He had suffered a major stroke, and being in a homely room was such a relief for all his family, after his hospital stay. Everyone was kind, gentle and respectful to
Dad, and to us. The staff nurse was amazing. We were able to remain with Dad for the final 24 hours of his life, and though it was the darkest of days, we couldn't have navigated it without her, and all the staff, looking out for us. They kept us advised so we understood what was happening - we felt less afraid. A great place and I'd gladly stay there myself.

Extremely happy with all aspects of care my dad is receiving at Hayes Cottage Nursing Home. The staff are so kind and caring and have made Dad so comfortable and well cared for. I was so unhappy to think Dad had to go into care, but now I realise this move has been for the better for him. Thanks to

Can't fault the staff at Hayes Cottage they are wonderful from the moment mum entered the end of life centre. Everyone is so caring and friendly, not just to the patient but so much to the family too. Unfortunately, we didn't make it in time for mums passing, but the staff nurse on duty stayed with
her holding her hand so she wasn't alone. I can't thank them enough, especially during the pandemic too.

I entered Hayes Cottage Nursing Home with a short time to live. I was unable to leave my bed or walk. After 4 months, a member of the care staff gave me the confidence to walk again. He took an interest after each physio visit with words of encouragement. So, the care staff are excellent. I'm leaving
here a healthy person.

My husband was in the nursing home for the final year of his life. He was always treated with respect and dignity. His needs were reassessed as his condition worsened, and I was always consulted. He received the best of care from nurses and carers. After lockdown, I was able to see him on Skype and
had regular contact over the telephone with staff to discuss his condition. I was always treated with respect and dignity, and also kindness, especially at the end of his life.

My mother was moved from Hospital to Hayes Cottage Hospital in her final days in Sept 2019. The support and care she and my family received from the moment we arrived was amazing - the Hospice staff running the palliative area, in particular, were patient, attentive and always had time for us as we
tried to navigate the very worst of times. The lovely gardens to the rear of the hospital also gave us a much-needed escape from the intensity of those last days. For us to have had to remain in the noisy and cramped chaos of the hospital would have been very distressing, but the peaceful calm and care offered by the move to Hayes Cottage Hospital allowed our family the time, space and comfort to properly farewell my mother.

We have been extremely impressed and very happy with the care my aunt has received and is receiving, as well as with Hayes Cottage itself. The staff are always very happy and efficient and seem very dedicated. Whenever we turn up to visit my aunt we always find her to be very clean and comfortable and
well looked after. The home too is always very clean and fresh and well maintained. All the staff; management, nursing, admin, carers, etc. are always happy to speak with us if we need to ask anything.
We would certainly recommend Hayes Cottage.

My Auntie came to Hayes cottage after she was discharged from the hospital. When she first arrived her mobility was extremely limited and she was depressed. Since being at Hayes both her mental health and mobility have improved. The staff are very friendly and always greet you with a smile. Most of
the carers will go above and beyond to help you if assistance is required. The bedrooms could do with a fresh coat of paint, however, that is a minor detail. I cannot fault the love and care the staff give to the residents and family visiting. They offer plenty of activities for residents and often invite family for those special occasions (Easter, Christmas etc.) I used to be a carer and I can honestly say this is one of the best care homes I have been in.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.479)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.479) out of 10 for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.529 for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (150 Excellents x 5) + (56 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.529
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
