I have been a resident in Hayes Cottage since last February for rest and recuperation after a missed diagnosis from the hospital. Finally being here a member of staff followed it through and had major surgery. This required weekly appointments ongoing for the past six months, luck enough the management
supported me so well and hopefully will be able to return home in a month or two. The resident's liaison manager has been an extremely good assistant, most helpful, thank you.

My sister has been under the care of Hayes Cottage for a number of years, during that time she has gone from strength to strength and now during her senior years looks healthier than she has ever! We always find the staff happy, helpful and so friendly, showing compassion to my sister with a great warmth
and bond between resident and staff. We are so very grateful to you all at every level and so happy in the knowledge she is in the best hands.

Mum had always insisted she wouldn't ever go into a home but, following a time in the hospital and with her dementia progressing, Dad was unable to provide the 24-hour care she needed. With the support of social services, a place was found at Hayes Cottage.
I have always found the staff helpful and
friendly and, best of all, Mum seems content and enjoys the activities. From the family's point of view, she is safe and all her health needs are looked after.
The staff keep us informed and any medical decisions are discussed fully with us so that the best solution for Mum can be found.
There is a homely, friendly atmosphere and everywhere is clean and gives a pleasant environment. They provide social activities, which Mum enjoys.
Hayes Cottage and, more importantly, their staff, have made the move something we have never regretted and it is great to see how settled Mum is in her home.

The staff in Primrose are amicable and have a good relationship with my aunt.
We are always welcome when we visit her in Primrose.
We also ring frequently to get updates on her health. If something happened day or night the nurse in charge rings me to let me know, and also asks my permission for inoculations.
The staff, the manager, and administrators are very courteous to us.

As a family we can only give the highest praise to Hayes Cottage Nursing Home, in particular the Primrose Ward, where we spent most of our time.
The nurses and carers were just amazing, the compassion and care shown to my husband was exemplary.
The home has a lovely friendly atmosphere, all staff
from management, dining room team and even the maintenance staff - all incredible.
We thank you for your care from the bottom of our hearts!

I like that my mum is included in all events. I enjoy watching and hearing about all the things she has done. When she was ill, I loved that on her return staff and residents welcomed her back as if she was one of their own family members. Even to the point of staying till she arrived back safely.
It's
important the staff recognise my mother’s needs and that they are met. I would say mostly all is good. In the times if something is amiss, in my knowledge steps have been taken quickly to resolve.
Thank you.

I have been visiting my mother who has been in care at Hayes Cottage Nursing Home for some time now. The care provided has been to a high standard as you would expect. There are many activities daily to keep residents entertained such as board games, arts, and crafts, music and dancing with visits to
parks and river boats to name a few. The care home environment is very pleasant, modern and maintained clean and tidy at all times, with private rooms. Food is catered for individual needs from breakfast to dinner. Outside there is a large lawn-laid garden with garden furniture. All staff are very pleasant and easy to converse with.

I came to Hayes Cottage Nursing Home for respite care in July 2022 after an operation, have been unable to go home so still here. I enjoy the parties and celebrations and had a lovely trip out in the summer on a boat trip and we had a picnic too. If I need anything I always have someone to talk to and
help in any way. I'm happy to be here and I enjoy having a glass of wine or two.

My grandad was taken to the nursing home for end-of-life care. We couldn't of asked for anyone from the staff, friendly, compassionate, caring, they made sure Grandad was well looked after and made sure he was ok, they put beds up for us, so we could stay with Grandad in his last hours.

I could not be happier with the care and attention given to Mum since she moved into Hayes Cottage about six months ago.
She was struggling to look after herself and becoming isolated living at home and now, thanks to the care given, she has a new lease of life. She enjoys interacting with the activities
available and with the other residents.
The care given is more than first-rate; the staff pay great attention to detail and never pass a resident in the corridor without greeting them.
The team will always alert me if Mum is a bit under the weather and ensure appropriate medical care is given. Families are always made welcome.
The activities coordinators work hard to ensure there are a range of activities available and invite external organizations (such as the local farm) and entertainers to come in regularly.
Hayes Cottage is always clean. Whilst the building itself could do with a bit of a refresh, it's the quality of care that counts.

My brother was only at Hayes Cottage Nursing Home for a few weeks. He was one of the two palliative care patients. My brother was in care for the past 8 months and passed away on June 2nd 2023. I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the way he was cared for by the exemplary staff who work there.
Special mentions must be made of a nurse and the customer service manager, who daily went out of their way
to help my brother with kindness and humour.
As my brother was bedridden, he needed medical attention daily and this was administered by staff with a kindness I will be eternally grateful for.
From the senior management team to the care staff I have nothing but praise for the way he was treated. Bless you all and thank you all on behalf of my family.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.479)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.479) out of 10 for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.529 for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (150 Excellents x 5) + (56 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.529
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hayes Cottage Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
