Following respite stays over the previous few years, we had to negotiate with the local council to enable mum to have a permanent residential place place when her condition deteriorated at the end of 2025, and we are so glad we did.
Mum was welcomed to her own room, with en-suite facilities, by staff
who had taken care of her during previous respite stays - as well as being introduced to new staff. Mum's care plan was reviewed by her social worker and myself with the assistant manager, nursing and care staff and her individual needs are being monitored.
All of the staff are so friendly, caring and sociable, despite all the hard work they have to do, and we know mum is being looked after. She particularly enjoys the cooked breakfast, along with the other food made on site by the excellent kitchen staff, and being taken down to the activity room (on the days when she is up to it) to take part in the sessions run on site.
We could not be happier knowing mum is safe and well cared for!
Reply from Abhishek Kumar, Business & Compliance Officer at Plane Tree CourtThank you for your thoughtful feedback. We are very pleased to hear that the move to permanent residency went smoothly and that the team helped your mum feel settled and supported. It's great to know she is enjoying the meals, her room, and the activities when she is able to take part. Your comments about the staff's care and dedication mean a great deal. We at Serencroft are committed to ensuring she continues to feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after.

Mum has been at Gable Court nursing home for 8 years now and last week reached her 100th birthday we had a wondearful party with a beautiful buffet a disco and a wonderful cake and photos of mum myself and family and friends staff worked very hard to decorate the room and make sure mum and all had
a unforgettable day with the Mayor of Ilford presenting her with her card from the King and Queen it was a day that we will never forget and a testament to the care mum has received since she became a resident there a big thankyou to all and hopefully more to come

My husband is currently residing in Plane Tree Court. The staff work very hard to provide a high standard of care. He is nursed in bed and needs full care including feeding, incontinence and catheter care. He enjoys his food which is pureed. He doesn't feel rushed as the staff are patient and kind.
His bedroom is quite dark and he cannot see out of the window. The family have asked that he can change to a more suitable room when available. Overall we are very happy with his care.

For the first time in 57 years, my husband and I were separated. He was taken to hospital by ambulance on advice of carers. He had developed dementia and Alzheimer's, which had become very bad - and the situation had become dangerous. I was taken to Plane Tree Court by one of my sons. The staff were
really lovely to me, I was fed good food every day. So kind and caring. Everything was spotlessly clean (no nasty smells). It felt as if I really mattered. I slept well, in comfort and cleanliness.

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
Ground floor seems nice, seems to be a regular programme of activities. Just hope that your relative is down there. Unfortunately, residents on upper floors are left in bed all day with just their four walls and an incessant TV to look at. It must be understaffed as noone has time to talk to residents
or their relatives let alone actually pay attention to their needs. No ability to even make a cup of tea for your relative or yourself.
No one says hello to me when I visit and I can spend several hours in the room with my relative without seeing any staff coming in, even though they are supposed to regularly move and feed them. I could easily walk into any room and abuse or steal from other residents as doors are open and noone speaks to you.
I've had relatives in other cares homes outside of london and unfortunately, this place seems more like a prison in comparism
Reply from Louis Rouxelin, Registered Manager at Gable Court Care HomeI am pleased to hear that you found the ground floor welcoming and the activity programme there felt positive. I am very sorry that your experience on the upper floors left you feeling concerned . No visitor should feel unsupported, ignored, or worried about the wellbeing or safety of their relative
We expect every resident, on every floor, to receive attentive care, regular interaction, and meaningful engagement throughout the day. We also expect visitors to feel welcomed, acknowledged, and confident that their loved one is receiving safe and compassionate care at all times. I am sorry to hear that this has not been your experience
I would value the opportunity to discuss this with you, so we can understand what you observed, follow up appropriately, and put improvements in place where needed. Please contact us and ask to speak with the manager, or provide your details and we will be happy to reach out

My Dad arrived at Plane Tree Court via 7 weeks in hospital, and is receiving nursing care. We had viewed Plane Tree amongst others, prior to his move and wanted him to come here.
I had read the reviews and I will add this
The staff are absolutely amazing, they are all professional, kind and caring.
It is clear they are all well suited to their roles, and this has made us as a family so comfortable knowing that my dad is being well cared for
The rooms all seem of a very good standard, with good recreational areas for residents to move to as and when they choose.
The building is well laid out and set within lovely well kept grounds, which in summer months will be great for a trip round the gardens for him.
Thanks to all the staff, Gigi the manager and Tony the assistant manager , who has a great understanding of patients needs.
I would without hesitation recommended Plane Tree

My dad moved in to Cherryfield in January 2025. Since being there he has thrived, as best he can, considering the conditions he is living with. The home isn't too large, with perhaps up to 25 or so bedrooms. This means that all the staff know my dad, not just as a resident but as the person we know
It also means that all the staff know me and all of my family members too, as we do them.
Their care feels very person centred and they evidently have a close and productive working relationships with others involved in my dad's care, especially the local GP practice who speak very highly off them.
My dad is living with two types of dementia but responds well to the care packages in place. His appetite has improved, he's gained weight, he looks better in himself and he is more engaged with other people. My dad, with his current state of mind, thinks that all the staff there are his employees, and they play along with that when that's appropriate

Just really bad food and the staff said it will get better however it's haven't
And the carers take too long to get to the people who need the care and when staff get "punishment" it will change for a day but the go back to how it was and the staff like talking to each other instead of doing there
jobs and when you try to talk to the head nurse or the manager the staff will take the complaint on you and or your family in the care home.
And my Dad has been in the care home for a year now but when he first when into the care home the managers never introduced themselves to us.
And they inconsistently move staff around so when the people in the care home needs they're baths or showers they are left with people they don't know or don't have a bond because they were moved upstairs for no real reason and that can leave people feeling uncomfortable when having a shower or bath.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
When I was looking for a care home for my father, Hayes Cottage stood out from the others immediately. The staff member who showed us round was so warm and friendly that I knew it was the right place for dad. I've met many staff since then and they have all lived up to my first impression. Accepting
that a parent needs to move into residential care is incredibly difficult and having them surrounded by staff who are friendly, professional and understand what you're going through really does make that decision easier.
Dad was really quite poorly when he came to Hayes Cottage but the care he's received has helped him to improve hugely. He takes part in all the activities he's able to, and it has been lovely to see his smiling face among the photos on the noticeboard each month.
All the staff - carers, nurses, activity staff, admin and management - genuinely care. That, more than anything, is why I picked Hayes Cottage, and why I'm so grateful. Thank you!
