After my dad's first 3 days at the care home, we knew it would not be for long as he was end of life, and I was allowed to stay with my dad 24 hours a day, which I know meant a lot to him and especially to me. Everybody was extremely accommodating, helpful, gracious, and polite, as I know this is not
the normal. I'm ever so grateful, as was my dad. Certain members of staff need extra credit as they really did shine. 5 in particular, thank you.

I am so happy with the care my husband has received. He's been there since December 2023 and has had nothing but the best care. Everyone looking after him as follows, I would like to thank, from my husband and myself, the carers on the first floor, nurses on the first floor, activity staff and of course
management. I can't thank them all enough for being so kind to myself and my husband. Thank you all for your caring and hard work.

From the first day, my mum was always very well cared for. She got on exceptionally well with all the staff, who always had time for her. They always made sure she was well dressed and her hair brushed. She loved to join in all the different available activities. We would always find her with a smile
on her face when we went to visit and often would laugh and joke with the staff. As a family, we felt reassured that she was being well cared for at all times. Thank you.

The new manager is really lovely. Had a meeting with him yesterday relating to my mum, along with the clinical lead and they were both really lovely, friendly and helpful. All the staff here that I've dealt with have always been very friendly, helpful, informative and are excellent. Weekend access can
be challenging (as there is no weekend receptionist) but apart from that, Mum is very well looked after and safe here. Gable Court is kept very well clean and it is a nice care home. It is very difficult to get Mum to join in activities downstairs in the lounge, so unable to comment on the activities here, but the staff do try and persuade her to go down. Glad Mum is safe and well looked after here.
Reply from Louis Rouxelin, Home Manager at Gable Court Care Home

Dear Susan, thank you for your kind feedback. We are delighted to hear about your positive experience with our team and the care your mother receives at Gable Court. We value your understanding concerning weekend access and are exploring ways to improve this particular component of our service. We will keep you posted.

My mother returned from a short hospital visit to the home but was still feeling quite unwell and exhausted. She didn't want to eat, drink or talk. The carer in question was extremely kind to my mum, spending time with her, reassuring her and comforting her. She encouraged her to ear a little and drink
some water. I would like to this carer to be recognised for her extremely kind and caring attitude.

From start to finish everyone was so kind and helpful in getting my brother in, settled and wonderfully cared for during his year here. The staff went above and beyond continuously to make sure that not only were his physical needs attended to but kept him in such an emotionally stable place too. Right
up until his passing the support and care given to both of us was exceptional. I shall be forever grateful.

Staff are welcoming, kind and appear caring. They encourage residents to join in activities and sessions.
Food is ok but could be better, those not in the dining room are not asked what they want and food is served plated. Desserts are awful, main meals are ok but could be better as meat is tough and
everything is covered in gravy even when it is not wanted.

Nice staff, helpful. Try to encourage residents to participate in activities. Do some chair exercises/activities with residents.
Food is rubbish and could be a lot better. Meals are not well presented or thought out for example recent Pork had no apple sauce or stuffing balls.

After being slightly nervous about Dad being put in a home, which I would imagine most people would think that way. This home has given my father back his dignity, he is looked after 24 hours a day by a dedicated team of professionals. My family and I can't thank them enough for everything they have
done, but most importantly, they have given him a quality of life that we could not give him at home.

My wife came first and I was so pleased with the entire home, I wanted to be with her as she was so poorly. I moved in temporarily to be with her until she sadly passed away last week. I cannot fault the care provided, friendly staff, kindness and happiness throughout. I found the simple meals so beautiful,
I enjoyed them all and the fresh fruit and the odd glass of wine were a regular treat. The activities provided were great but couldn't always be there as I was comforting my wife. I will be moving out to be with my son in sheltered accommodation next month but when the time comes and I will need a nursing home I will be coming straight back to Hayes Cottage.

Nursing care team are proactive in the management of relative healthcare needs. Care staff are polite and sympathetic to my aunt's needs and management staff are very facilitative with health care provider interactions. During recent periods of hospitalisation the nursing staff have been actively engaged
regarding admission discharge and have kept us as relatives fully informed which was highly appreciated.
Visior support at weekends could be improved, when staffing levels are lower, it can be challenging to find assistance eg to answer the door, answer questions, get access to additional seating. However support for the residents is still strong.

My wife received the very best care during her three months at Hayes Cottage Nursing Home. The staff were caring, sympathetic and courteous at all times. They treated my wife with dignity and welcomed us as a family when we visited. The home was spotlessly clean, the food was good and the activities
well planned. The home is a credit to the management and staff. Thank you for taking such good care of my wife.

Gable Court was the only nursing home that would accept my father due to his complex needs assessment. We were extremely grateful that they were able to put 1:1 24-hour care in place. Management and staff were accommodating and helped to ease some of our concerns. My father had very good 1:1 care and
the staff worked extremely hard. He was treated with respect despite some challenging behaviours. The staff and management were fully supportive to us as a family in distress which we appreciated so much.

I have been a resident in Hayes Cottage since last February for rest and recuperation after a missed diagnosis from the hospital. Finally being here a member of staff followed it through and had major surgery. This required weekly appointments ongoing for the past six months, luck enough the management
supported me so well and hopefully will be able to return home in a month or two. The resident's liaison manager has been an extremely good assistant, most helpful, thank you.

Mum had always insisted she wouldn't ever go into a home but, following a time in the hospital and with her dementia progressing, Dad was unable to provide the 24-hour care she needed. With the support of social services, a place was found at Hayes Cottage.
I have always found the staff helpful and
friendly and, best of all, Mum seems content and enjoys the activities. From the family's point of view, she is safe and all her health needs are looked after.
The staff keep us informed and any medical decisions are discussed fully with us so that the best solution for Mum can be found.
There is a homely, friendly atmosphere and everywhere is clean and gives a pleasant environment. They provide social activities, which Mum enjoys.
Hayes Cottage and, more importantly, their staff, have made the move something we have never regretted and it is great to see how settled Mum is in her home.
