Mum has been at Gable Court nursing home for 8 years now and last week reached her 100th birthday we had a wondearful party with a beautiful buffet a disco and a wonderful cake and photos of mum myself and family and friends staff worked very hard to decorate the room and make sure mum and all had
a unforgettable day with the Mayor of Ilford presenting her with her card from the King and Queen it was a day that we will never forget and a testament to the care mum has received since she became a resident there a big thankyou to all and hopefully more to come

We visit weekly, the stadf are always smiling and bery welcoming, home is clean and our cousin's room is spacious and airy. We cannot find any faults and are very happy with the overall care for his needs.

Gable Court Care Home

from L S (Relative of Resident) published on 12 February 2026

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
Ground floor seems nice, seems to be a regular programme of activities. Just hope that your relative is down there. Unfortunately, residents on upper floors are left in bed all day with just their four walls and an incessant TV to look at. It must be understaffed as noone has time to talk to residents
or their relatives let alone actually pay attention to their needs. No ability to even make a cup of tea for your relative or yourself.
No one says hello to me when I visit and I can spend several hours in the room with my relative without seeing any staff coming in, even though they are supposed to regularly move and feed them. I could easily walk into any room and abuse or steal from other residents as doors are open and noone speaks to you.
I've had relatives in other cares homes outside of london and unfortunately, this place seems more like a prison in comparism
Reply from Louis Rouxelin, Registered Manager at Gable Court Care HomeI am pleased to hear that you found the ground floor welcoming and the activity programme there felt positive. I am very sorry that your experience on the upper floors left you feeling concerned . No visitor should feel unsupported, ignored, or worried about the wellbeing or safety of their relative
We expect every resident, on every floor, to receive attentive care, regular interaction, and meaningful engagement throughout the day. We also expect visitors to feel welcomed, acknowledged, and confident that their loved one is receiving safe and compassionate care at all times. I am sorry to hear that this has not been your experience
I would value the opportunity to discuss this with you, so we can understand what you observed, follow up appropriately, and put improvements in place where needed. Please contact us and ask to speak with the manager, or provide your details and we will be happy to reach out
Thank you for this. Your feedback is important and will be taken seriously

My dad & family had the great experience with the staff at Hayes Cottsge.
From dad's first day to his last.
They kept his dignity at all times.
They made family welcome anytime day or night.
Everything was with a personal touch from speaking on the phone to the visits.
Most importantly my
dad was happy there and it was like his home from home.

Just really bad food and the staff said it will get better however it's haven't
And the carers take too long to get to the people who need the care and when staff get "punishment" it will change for a day but the go back to how it was and the staff like talking to each other instead of doing there
jobs and when you try to talk to the head nurse or the manager the staff will take the complaint on you and or your family in the care home.
And my Dad has been in the care home for a year now but when he first when into the care home the managers never introduced themselves to us.
And they inconsistently move staff around so when the people in the care home needs they're baths or showers they are left with people they don't know or don't have a bond because they were moved upstairs for no real reason and that can leave people feeling uncomfortable when having a shower or bath.
Reply from MONICA-SORINA Rasura, Home Manager at Hayes Cottage Nursing HomeThank you for sharing your feedback. I am very sorry to hear that you feel this way and want to assure you that your concerns are taken seriously. Our priority is always to provide safe, high-quality, and person-centered care.
I regularly discuss any issues or concerns directly with your mother and address these promptly with her . However, I would also welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally so that we can work together to resolve any outstanding matters. My door is always open, and you are welcome to contact me by phone or email at any time.
We value feedback from residents and families as it helps us improve the service we provide. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention. Your comments will be reviewed carefully, and we will take steps to ensure the best possible care for your loved one

When I was looking for a care home for my father, Hayes Cottage stood out from the others immediately. The staff member who showed us round was so warm and friendly that I knew it was the right place for dad. I've met many staff since then and they have all lived up to my first impression. Accepting
that a parent needs to move into residential care is incredibly difficult and having them surrounded by staff who are friendly, professional and understand what you're going through really does make that decision easier.
Dad was really quite poorly when he came to Hayes Cottage but the care he's received has helped him to improve hugely. He takes part in all the activities he's able to, and it has been lovely to see his smiling face among the photos on the noticeboard each month.
All the staff - carers, nurses, activity staff, admin and management - genuinely care. That, more than anything, is why I picked Hayes Cottage, and why I'm so grateful. Thank you!
Reply from MONICA-SORINA Rasura, Home Manager at Hayes Cottage Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. Our whole team , are dedicated to providing the best possible care, and your feedback means a great deal to all of us.Thank you again for trusting Hayes Cottage to care for your father. After my dad's first 3 days at the care home, we knew it would not be for long as he was end of life, and I was allowed to stay with my dad 24 hours a day, which I know meant a lot to him and especially to me. Everybody was extremely accommodating, helpful, gracious, and polite, as I know this is not
the normal. I'm ever so grateful, as was my dad. Certain members of staff need extra credit as they really did shine. 5 in particular, thank you.

I am so happy with the care my husband has received. He's been there since December 2023 and has had nothing but the best care. Everyone looking after him as follows, I would like to thank, from my husband and myself, the carers on the first floor, nurses on the first floor, activity staff and of course
management. I can't thank them all enough for being so kind to myself and my husband. Thank you all for your caring and hard work.

From the first day, my mum was always very well cared for. She got on exceptionally well with all the staff, who always had time for her. They always made sure she was well dressed and her hair brushed. She loved to join in all the different available activities. We would always find her with a smile
on her face when we went to visit and often would laugh and joke with the staff. As a family, we felt reassured that she was being well cared for at all times. Thank you.

The new manager is really lovely. Had a meeting with him yesterday relating to my mum, along with the clinical lead and they were both really lovely, friendly and helpful. All the staff here that I've dealt with have always been very friendly, helpful, informative and are excellent. Weekend access can
be challenging (as there is no weekend receptionist) but apart from that, Mum is very well looked after and safe here. Gable Court is kept very well clean and it is a nice care home. It is very difficult to get Mum to join in activities downstairs in the lounge, so unable to comment on the activities here, but the staff do try and persuade her to go down. Glad Mum is safe and well looked after here.
Reply from Louis Rouxelin, Home Manager at Gable Court Care HomeDear Susan, thank you for your kind feedback. My mother returned from a short hospital visit to the home but was still feeling quite unwell and exhausted. She didn't want to eat, drink or talk. The carer in question was extremely kind to my mum, spending time with her, reassuring her and comforting her. She encouraged her to ear a little and drink
some water. I would like to this carer to be recognised for her extremely kind and caring attitude.

From start to finish everyone was so kind and helpful in getting my brother in, settled and wonderfully cared for during his year here. The staff went above and beyond continuously to make sure that not only were his physical needs attended to but kept him in such an emotionally stable place too. Right

Staff are welcoming, kind and appear caring. They encourage residents to join in activities and sessions.
Food is ok but could be better, those not in the dining room are not asked what they want and food is served plated. Desserts are awful, main meals are ok but could be better as meat is tough and
everything is covered in gravy even when it is not wanted.

My wife came first and I was so pleased with the entire home, I wanted to be with her as she was so poorly. I moved in temporarily to be with her until she sadly passed away last week. I cannot fault the care provided, friendly staff, kindness and happiness throughout. I found the simple meals so beautiful,
I enjoyed them all and the fresh fruit and the odd glass of wine were a regular treat. The activities provided were great but couldn't always be there as I was comforting my wife. I will be moving out to be with my son in sheltered accommodation next month but when the time comes and I will need a nursing home I will be coming straight back to Hayes Cottage.

Nursing care team are proactive in the management of relative healthcare needs. Care staff are polite and sympathetic to my aunt's needs and management staff are very facilitative with health care provider interactions. During recent periods of hospitalisation the nursing staff have been actively engaged
regarding admission discharge and have kept us as relatives fully informed which was highly appreciated.
Visior support at weekends could be improved, when staffing levels are lower, it can be challenging to find assistance eg to answer the door, answer questions, get access to additional seating. However support for the residents is still strong.
