A specialist physiotherapy role supporting bariatric residents

Ribble Court Care Home is looking for a qualified, HCPC-registered Physiotherapist to lead the physiotherapy and rehabilitation support for a small, defined caseload of up to seven bariatric residents.

The Role

Our residents have a range of complex mobility, strength and rehabilitation needs associated with bariatric care. Your focus will be on helping them to build strength, improve mobility and physical function, maintain independence and achieve meaningful rehabilitation goals.

You will have the support of a dedicated Physiotherapy Assistant, alongside an experienced nursing and care team, with a structured approach to physiotherapy appointments and resident rehabilitation.

With 18- 19.5 hours across three weekdays, no weekend working and a defined resident caseload, this is an opportunity to combine specialist, hands-on clinical work with an excellent work-life balance.

Key responsibilities

As our Physiotherapist, you will take the lead for the assessment, planning and review of physiotherapy interventions for our bariatric residents.

You will work closely with our Physiotherapy Assistant, a dedicated bariatric care team and Clinical Deputy Home Manager, Clinical Home Manager, nursing and care teams to ensure residents receive safe, effective and person-centred rehabilitation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assessing residents' mobility, strength, physical function and rehabilitation needs.
• Developing, implementing and reviewing individualised physiotherapy and rehabilitation plans.
• Delivering targeted interventions to improve strength, mobility, transfers, physical function and independence.
• Providing physiotherapy support for residents with complex bariatric mobility and rehabilitation needs.
• Providing specialist clinical advice around mobility, moving and handling and appropriate equipment.
• Setting rehabilitation programmes and providing clinical direction and guidance to the Physiotherapy Assistant.
• Monitoring residents' progress and adapting interventions to achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Maintaining accurate digital clinical records and care plans.
• Working collaboratively with nursing and care colleagues and wider multidisciplinary team.
• Supporting colleagues with guidance and best practice in rehabilitation and safe moving and handling.

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree or recognised professional qualification in Physiotherapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Demonstrable post-registration physiotherapy experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, rehabilitation and mobility skills.
• Experience working with people with complex physical or mobility needs.
• Confidence working autonomously and managing a defined caseload.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working skills.
• A person-centred approach and a genuine interest in helping residents maximise their mobility, independence and quality of life.

*Previous bariatric experience would be particularly valuable, although we would also welcome applications from experienced Physiotherapists with strong transferable rehabilitation and complex mobility skills.
