Based at our stunning, brand-new care home, Elm Lodge in Hartley Wintney, RG27 8JG. Newly opened, Elm Lodge is a 60-bedded care home providing residential care and offers a fantastic opportunity to set the foundations of an outstanding home.

We are looking for a full-time, reliable, caring Assistant Care Supervisor who wants to make a difference by contributing to providing the best care possible at all times. This role is to support the Care Supervisor and management team in delivering high-quality care to residents. The Care Supervisor Assistant will supervise and support Senior Carers and care staff, assist with staff training and development, and help ensure that care is delivered safely, respectfully and in accordance with residents’ individual needs.

The role also includes supporting the management team with staffing, care standards, documentation, training, and duty manager responsibilities, including shifts of agreed evenings, nights and weekends.

Starting salary £15.75 per hour. Alternate weekend working will be required. 42 hours per week.

Main Duties of our Assistant Care Supervisor

  • Support care staff in providing residents with high-quality personal care and maintaining their dignity, privacy and independence.
  • Assist with medication administration where required and as directed by the Head of Care or Home Manager.
  • Take direction from the Home Manager and Head of Care regarding residents’ daily care requirements.
  • Supervise and support Senior Carers and care staff in the delivery of effective care.
  • Support care staff through supervision and appraisal when required.
  • Assist with managing staff rotas and provide support during staff absences.
  • Oversee duty manager calls on pre-arranged days, nights and weekends.
  • Support the induction and training of new staff until they are confident and competent in their role.
  • Be responsible for MCM training as required.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions and other professional development activities.
  • Promote good practice and ensure staff understand and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Support the Care Supervisor to create and maintain non-clinical care plans for residents, ensuring care staff have accurate information to deliver appropriate care.
  • Regularly review daily care notes to ensure they are accurate, informative and reflective of the care provided.
  • Ensure care documentation is completed to the required standard.
  • Work with the Home Manager and Head of Care to ensure residents’ changing needs are identified and appropriately addressed.
  • Support to monitor and audit the standard of work carried out by care staff.
  • Ensure care staff contribute positively to the efficient running of the home and promote a welcoming, respectful and supportive environment.
  • Promote a culture of dignity, respect, safeguarding and person-centred care.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to residents, staff and the organisation.
  • Comply with current Data Protection legislation and company confidentiality requirements.
  • Understand and comply with Health & Safety, Employment and Social Care legislation relevant to the role.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures and professional standards at all times.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the Home Manager, Head of Care or Care Supervisor.
  • Must be responsible for delivering Moving & Handling training to all new care staff as part of their induction and ensuring staff demonstrate competency before working independently.
  • Must deliver regular Moving & Handling refresher training and competency assessments to the whole home, including existing care staff, in line with organisational requirements and identified training needs.
  • Ensure Moving & Handling training is delivered safely, consistently and in accordance with current legislation, organisational policies, risk assessments and best practice.
  • Maintain appropriate training and competency records and ensure completion is reported to the management team.
  • Identify poor practice or unsafe moving and handling techniques and take immediate appropriate action.
  • Support the induction of new employees and provide practical guidance until they demonstrate confidence and competence.
  • Participate in staff supervision, appraisal and development.
  • Identify training needs and report these to the management team.
  • Promote continuous improvement and good care practice.
