Senior Carer

To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents while supervising and guiding care staff. The Senior Carer is responsible for ensuring residents' physical, emotional, and social needs are met in accordance with care plans, regulatory standards, and the home's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Care

• Deliver compassionate and professional care to residents.
• Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and mobility.
• Support residents with eating, drinking, and nutrition requirements.
• Monitor residents' health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns promptly.
• Administer medication where trained and authorised.
• Maintain residents' dignity, privacy, independence, and choice at all times.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, support, and mentor care assistants during shifts.
• Allocate duties and ensure care is delivered to a high standard.
• Provide guidance and support to new staff members.
• Assist with staff induction and ongoing training.
• Promote effective teamwork and communication.

Care Planning and Documentation

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records.
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of care plans.
• Record incidents, accidents, and changes in residents' conditions.
• Ensure all documentation complies with legal and regulatory requirements.

Health and Safety

• Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns immediately.
• Ensure infection prevention and control measures are maintained.
• Adhere to medication management policies and procedures.
• Promote a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
• Participate in health and safety checks and risk assessments.

Communication

• Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
• Attend handovers, meetings, and training sessions.
• Support residents and families with compassion and professionalism.
